employee who co-created the Metroid series in the first place.

Still, it's hardly surprising that a long-time Nintendo worker sucks horribly at writing, or that a veteran Japanese salaryman has deep-rooted sexism. The end result's still worse than I would've anticipated.
In fairness, the director in question here isn't some external guy, but a Nintendo

Wasn't Other M directed by the same guy who did Ninja Gaiden?

For those who weren't in chat, there's a new Humble Indie Bundle.

Edit: Same dev team as the new Ninja Gaiden games, but directed by a lifelong Metroid guy.

"Sakamoto has directed all Metroid games produced internally by Nintendo except Metroid II: Return of Samus."

Oh, wow, so...every single one except for the game with the best plot?  (Don't laugh--I can't tell you how much I obsessed over the Metroid 2 manual when I was young.  Definitely more interesting than the manuals for...any of the others.  This is back in the day when metroid plot was mostly manual-based, of course).  Anyhow...

Internally-produced Metroid games had a plot?

Metroid 2 is a favorite around the Captain K. house also.  Have to keep a GBAdvance charged just to play it.

http://onfaith.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/2010/12/is_christmas_christian/all.html?hpid=talkbox1

who celebrates Christmas in America?  Christians, a majority of agnostics, a majority of atheists...and a majority of members of OTHER religions.  So I guess that's a pretty good reason for it being a federal holiday.

I celebrate Christmas despite being an Atheist.  Partly because of my Methodist upbringing, but more because there really isn't a whole lot of religion left in Christmas.  I see it more as a celebration of Capitalism.  And as Austin Powers said, "Yay, Capitalism."

It's more like there's two Christmas' these days.  There's the religious holiday, and the societal one.  The religious one is still plenty alive and kicking, it's just not something you'll pick up on unless you, or a good amount of your family, are devout.

In another interest story related to this, there was a study done recently by a local university that said that obvious reminders of Christmas tended to stress out non Christians.  When reached for commentary, the leader of a prominent local Buddhist Temple said "News to me" and asked the reporter if they wanted a shot of the temple's Christmas tree.

I think knowing that you will spend your next life as a dragon or some shit and the other dude is going to end up as Seth Rogan's anal bead would relax you.

Of course.

Secular Christmas represents an obligation to buy presents.  Hopefully you're not short on cash already.  And heaven forbid that Tickle-Me-Elmo is sold out, or there will be hell to pay; better wrestle that other woman to the ground for the last one.  And you have to go pick out a tree (and choice of tree will cause much debate), and then decorate it, and it will probably get pine needles in the rug.  And have fun untangling the christmas lights.  If the lights have been in the family long enough, then a single burnt-out lightbulb will mean the entire set does not work, and you have to test every individual bulb until you find the one bulb in a hundred that burnt out.  And presents need to be wrapped--did you remember to get wrapping paper?  Enough scotch tape?  Are the kids in a screaming match over who gets to use the scissors first?  And oh, Christmas dinner needs special preparation (and you'll probably have to shop for that in advance, too, becasue the grocery store's probably closed on the 25th).  And of course, kids+chocolate+new toys means injuries (the emergency room gets much higher traffic on Christmas).

Don't get me wrong, I love christmas.  But it doesn't surprise me that there's people out there who find it stressful.

So really it's not Christmas, it's that children make everything worse.
