Errrr isn't that like as old as discussion about BoF 4 being a prequel?  I am sure I saw that before I saw that stupid Rinoa is Ultimecia stuff.

Of course you get some IotD at the conclusion.

Quote
The truth is, I don’t think there is a substantial amount of evidence to conclude whether or not the writers intended for the audience to interpret the game in this fashion. I choose to believe that this is how the game was intended to be understood because, to me, the game makes no sense otherwise

Other than the fact that during development they were open about the fact that they wanted this game to be a love story?  Yeah there is no secret there.  No hidden unexpected twisted interpretation, just a bad story with bad fucking writing.  End of goddamned story.  It is an interesting piece of mental agility to juggle everything and come up with an alternative interpretation, but that is all it is, an interpretation.  You can't stop shit from being shit just because you want it to badly not be shit.   Plan 9 From Outer Space is a great piece of cinema that everyone should watch, it is an absolute masterpiece and is one of my favourite movies of all time.  It is a horrible movie.  Same situation here.  FF8 is a fun game, but it is terrible and no amount of mental agility is going to turn it into a compelling amazingly told masterpiece.

And hey you know what?  Even interpretting that way FF8 is still a shitty story with no resolution built on stupid ideas.  Congrats, you spent an entire disc building up plot that you would have effectively made ENTIRELY FUCKING IRRELEVANT BECAUSE YOU KILL THE POINT OF VIEW OF THE ACTUAL STORY AND DON'T RESOLVE SHIT ANYFUCKINGWAY.  Squall's story, let alone Disc 1 Squall of no goddamned personality and whiney bitchiness is not a compelling story to finish at Disc 1.  You would have a plot of this guy is a douche.  He got killed by some chick.  EXCITING STORY MANG, NOW WATCH NONSENSE FOR 30 MORE HOURS.

It is still a shit story even interpretting it that way.

It is. It's just a testament to the overwhelming shittiness of FF8 plot that it's still a better option than assuming that the final 3/4 of the game actually happened.

The Half-Life mod has been linked here before, but it's still amusing.

I don't understand what Argentina thinks is going to happen by trying to start another Falkland Islands war.

They've specifically ruled out military action. Which makes sense, they did not fare well the last time. International pressure's at least worth a try in their case.

Uh, excuse me, but that has already been decided and is Staff Sgt. Max Fightmaster. Do your research  ::) ::) ::)
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

I should have read this sooner, but just have to point out that there is in fact already a comic thematic inspired band that go by the name Doctor Steel and it is awesome.

I know a guy named Bill Halberdier.  Pretty badass when both of your names are weapon related.

Old news, but the cat one is neat.

Edit - And he has done plenty more than just his face, at least one album has most songs end in a spiral of some kind or another from memory.

http://www.gq.com/blogs/the-q/2010/02/the-last-hummer-a-brand-is-a-terrible-thing-to-waste.html

An article on how the Hummer is awful and now they are dead. I thought it was a good read.

Quote
But perhaps death is the most fitting punishment for Hummer. One regrets the lost jobs and the lost opportunity, but before you get to feeling too sorry for the brand's demise, remember that when they went after civilians with the Hummer, the corporation and its dealers had invested in a machine which unashamedly appealed to the least altruistic, angriest elements of the American motoring public and their psyche. They spent billions promoting a machine that took the SUV's anti-social tendencies to previously uncharted depths. In short, Hummer was a cynical bet on the worst in the American character, and, for once, the cynics lost.

God Bless America.
