It's too bad, really. They were actually entertaining individuals in the Kevin J. Anderson series. But no one read that series, so they became Han/Leia clones with no actual personalities or meaningful relationships.

The New Jedi Order books looked like they had some really great ideas, so of course they decided to make every single new thing introduced about the Force a Sith lie. Coincidentally, I stopped reading Star Wars after that.

See, the KJA novels were where I started to hate them. It was the first of many, many, many times that they saved the day.

I think he means the Young Jedi Knights series, not Jedi Academy. I think I read like just the first book of that, it's... formulaic but I can see having some sentiment for the characters there. The big difference really is that they aren't super-powered toddlers doing implausible things that Luke Skywalker, Bestest Jedi Ever can't even match, but just gifted students. Definite improvement.

Also, Nephrite has taste. Chen Kenichi is my favorite Iron Chef ever, from either series.

Credit where credit is due. Oddly enough, I bet that chef at the French Café restaurant in Atlanta that I could never afford is shitting his pants over the win. But now since they did win, and I fortunately met him at a New Years party, perhaps a free meal is guaranteed?
