Lavos (CT) vs Claude Kenni (SO2): Kills him in 2, isn't OHKO'd.
Jessica Albert (DQ8) vs Profound Darkness (PS4): If Jess had healing then maybe.

Heavy:

Masaji Kato (SH2) vs .Mazus (S2): Mazus was slow right? Status.
Lenus (LoD) vs Elieen (S1): Copper Flesh.

Middle:

Isabel (S5) vs Jeane (Suikos): Lightning res, 2HKO (OHKO?)
Jude Maverick (WA4) vs Lemina Ausa (Lunar:EBC): Sweet jesus this is going to hurt.

Light:

Katarina (S4) vs Shady Thousand (WA3): Uh. I think.
Banon (FF6) vs Gordon (Disgaea): Shouldn't get OHKO'd, right? Might be heal locked with a physical though...

Godlike:

Lavos (CT) vs Claude Kenni (SO2)- What Pyro said.
Jessica Albert (DQ8) vs Profound Darkness (PS4)- I'd bet PD OHKOs her easily.

Heavy:

Masaji Kato (SH2) vs Mazus (S2)- Mazus is faster, OHKOs.
Lenus (LoD) vs Elieen (S1)- Lenus.

Middle:

Isabel (S5) vs Jeane (Suikos)- Thunder immunity.
Jude Maverick (WA4) vs Lemina Ausa (Lunar:EBC)- Probably OHKOs, not OHKOed back. Ugly.

Light:

Katarina (S4) vs Shady Thousand (WA3)- Shady didn't resist thunder.
Banon (FF6) vs Gordon (Disgaea)- Gordon may be able to crit his way out of trouble, but I doubt it.

Godlike:

Lavos (CT) vs Claude Kenni (SO2) - Standard smashing of a Low Godlike PC by a Godlike boss

Heavy:

Masaji Kato (SH2) vs .Mazus (S2) - Need to do a speed check

Middle:

Isabel (S5) vs Jeane (Suikos) - Goes first, has HP, and resists Lightning. Isabel easily survives a Jeane turn. Jeane isn't surviving two Isabel turns.
Jude Maverick (WA4) vs Lemina Ausa (Lunar:EBC) - For optimum slaughter, activate Rapid Attack on the first turn, then Assault Buster on the double.

Light:

Katarina (S4) vs Shady Thousand (WA3) - Not Shady

Godlike:

Lavos (CT) vs Claude Kenni (SO2): Dreamless spam off 16 CT speed is just ugly.
Jessica Albert (DQ8) vs Profound Darkness (PS4): Pretty bad mismatch. OHKOs for sure, yes.

Heavy:

Masaji Kato (SH2) vs Mazus (S2): 90.5% speed vs. 90% speed. Wow. Though, even without this, a decent tiebreak is the fact that Mazus WILL kill if he gets a turn, while Kato's status has a very small chance to fail. Tiebreak #3: kneejerk against easily blocked boss status in-game!
Lenus (LoD) vs Elieen (S1): Spoiled.

Middle:

Isabel (S5) vs Jeane (Suikos): Equips to the rescue.
Jude Maverick (WA4) vs Lemina Ausa (Lunar:EBC) Sceptile (PKMN): Why yes, I am still bitter that a dueller I like who had a shot at the finals got felled by blatantly false writeup hype. Anyway, this week's match merits no comments.

Light:

Katarina (S4) vs Shady Thousand (WA3): Um yeah Shady wouldn't win even if he nulled thunder.
Banon (FF6) vs Gordon (Disgaea): Oh, wait. Gordon gets a double every 7 turns or so. And two Gordon Blitzes do KO. On the other hand... Banon does have evade (25% taken at the time, higher with latergame equips). And Gordon is slightly below average Hit although Disgaea Hit doesn't seem to mean much (even Laharl/Etna hit all the time for me, and they're game-worst). Gordon may also be able to equip a more accurate weapon and 2HKO still though I wouldn't count on it. Uh. Um. Someone help me out here.

Godlike:

Lavos (CT) vs Claude Kenni (SO2)
Jessica Albert (DQ8) vs Profound Darkness (PS4)

Heavy:

Masaji Kato (SH2) vs .Mazus (S2)- Kato has like 2 PC HP to me anyways. Mazus is also faster to me, but yeah, Kato takes the hit for me.
Lenus (LoD) vs Elieen (S1)

Middle:

Isabel (S5) vs Jeane (Suikos)
Jude Maverick (WA4) vs Lemina Ausa (Lunar:EBC)- Lemina cries that this isn't Twaikin as it should have been!

Light:

Katarina (S4) vs Shady Thousand (WA3)
Banon (FF6) vs Gordon (Disgaea)- I think this all depends on if Gordon's counters heal lock. If not, think Banon takes it. Number crunch later maybe.

Lavos (CT) vs Claude Kenni (SO2)

Heavy:

Masaji Kato (SH2) vs .Mazus (S2) - Yeah I don't hold the sidequests against Kato.
Lenus (LoD) vs Elieen (S1)

Middle:

Isabel (S5) vs Jeane (Suikos)
Jude Maverick (WA4) vs Lemina Ausa (Lunar:EBC) - Side comment re Dark Holy Elf: I dunno if the writeup hype was "blatant"ly wrong!  Catastrophe sure looks like it's omnielemental and it hits weakness on Zophar's magic-weak tentacle and there isn't much game to use it on aside from Zophar and the postgame.  The fact that it's actually non-elemental seems pretty obscure to me.

Light:

Katarina (S4) vs Shady Thousand (WA3)
Banon (FF6) vs Gordon (Disgaea) - I don't really respect FF6 speed after turn 1 so Gordon is getting his doubleturn on turn 15 or so to me.  Banon's damage isn't quite THAT horrible and Gordon's SP-conservation moves are unimpressive according to the stat topic.  Closeish, though, if Gordon could spam damage that threatens a Blitz finish consistently while also keeping room for double-Blitz in the tank, I'd vote him.

Yeah I don't hold the sidequests against Kato.

None at all? I can't really see that. Although I'm sure Kefka will be happy to hear of interps like that...

Even taking 50% of sidequests against Kato (what I do, for the record) makes him pretty unimpressive durability-wise. SH2 bosses go down like rag dolls in general (Arc Spells + four-person combo chains lead to insane damage, stuff like keys and Lucia's strike booster neither of which I personally used make this even worse) and while he's better than most (10k when the highest before him have like 6.5k) it's still not exactly impressive.

We have a stat topic that can be checked for these things. Quite frankly I feel the opposite as you: "omni-elemental" is a largely fabricated mechanic (can't think of many games that use it) and certainly a more complicated one than the mechanically straightforward Lunar 2 seems likely to employ; the logical conclusion is that it is non-elemental. The game clearly has enemies which are magic-weak and not element-weak (also vice versa) which is illustrated very nicely in a certain earlygame dungeon, and Zophar's hand is one such (seemed immensely obvious to me given that it resisted physicals). And if you actually use Catastrophe in the aftergame, then you'll see quite a bit of evidence of it not hitting elemental weakness, of course. Anyway, why you would -assume- this strange mechanic of it I don't really know... but even if you do, to put it in a writeup without checking with the stat topic or people who know the game well seems kinda dishonest to me.

I shouldn't really heap too much blame on the writeup, though. Like I mentioned, I'm bitter, so take everything I say here with a grain of salt. It's just frustrating to see that falsehood aimed in a fight you feel strongly about and know there's limited things you can do in response because so many people will see it. It's even more frustrating when you do what you can (hey guys I have video proof!) and nobody responds or gives any indication of changing their vote, and I know for a fact some people didn't.

I hold sidequests/buffs against Kato and he's still pretty durable to me! Pushes the average about 50% higher than the DL average to me. 600 with Technical Rings still leaves him with over 1.5. Combos are fun, but are also finishers that need about 1/2 a turn of prep time for most of the PCs.

How do they need prep time? All they do is set everyone's speed equal to the slowest PC, e.g. in a four-fighter party you may see:

Kurando: Combo with Joachim
Yuri: Combo with Joachim
Karin: Combo with Joachim
Joachim: Start chain, which happens at the clocktick Joachim gets his turn.

This isn't even close to 1/2 a turn given how tight the SH2 speed curve is. All you're losing is the harmonixer speed boost, really, which, as I believe I've mentioned before, isn't factored into our view of bosses ANYWAY.

Some of these combo-bait moves do have recharge time granted but I dunno it's never seemed that high, given I was able to use two such combos against several bosses to kill them before their second turn. Might just be some bosses being total slugs or having some bad recharge moves of their own I happened to see.

There should be some break up speed wise since by my views at least the first combo isn't taking Kato out, meaning that if you used it the first turn that recharge comes into play. It's not impossible that Combo mitigates some recharge time, in which case, that would hurt boss durability to me, yeah.

Godlike:

Lavos (CT) vs Claude Kenni (SO2) - Murder and death.
Jessica Albert (DQ8) vs Profound Darkness (PS4) - More murder and death. PD for finalist.

Heavy:

Lenus (LoD) vs Eileen (S1) - Spoilery. Funny, if Kato loses, Eileen's hitting the Heavy finals.

Middle:

Isabel (S5) vs Jeane (Suikos) - Okay, so Isabel avoids the OHKO with the 40% Lightning resistance and is faster. Jeane's just fresh out of luck.
Jude Maverick (WA4) vs Lemina Ausa (Lunar:EBC) - Lemina is quite possibly OHKOed by a raw AB. Given how Jude instadoubles her with a RA peppered in, the overkill is even uglier.

Light:

Katarina (S4) vs Shady Thousand (WA3) - Poor Shady. =(

Godlike:

Lavos (CT) vs Claude Kenni (SO2) - PCs get slaughtered week
Jessica Albert (DQ8) vs Profound Darkness (PS4) - Yep.

Heavy:

Masaji Kato (SH2) vs .Mazus (S2) - Leaning that he tanks a hit.
Lenus (LoD) vs Elieen (S1) - Eileen can taste that championship~

Middle:

Isabel (S5) vs Jeane (Suikos)
Jude Maverick (WA4) vs Lemina Ausa (Lunar:EBC) - This is hilarious.

Light:

Katarina (S4) vs Shady Thousand (WA3)
Banon (FF6) vs Gordon (Disgaea) - Too good for Light. RNG in Disgaea varies enough that I'd see him OHKOing with his physical eventually.

Gordon's damage isn't that good nor is Disgaea RNG that widespread for this to work. It's Disgaea, which the damage curve is generally pretty tight (Minus Flonne with no staff levels). Throw in that Gordon's damage on top of that isn't all that spammable.
