Final tally for the Eagles game: Jamaal Jackson and Leonard Weaver on IR, Kolb and Bradley suffer serious concussions, and most of of the Eagles fanbase apparently wants them to put Vick in.

Shale, you may want to take up knitting, as it is likely to be less painful than watching the Eagles this season.

Reid also would not guarantee that Kevin Kolb will remain with the team after the Oct. 19 trade deadline, despite touting Kolb's "bright future" in the NFL.
"I can’t predict anything down that far, nobody in this league can do that, that’s ridiculous," Reid said. "The future, we’ll just have to see."

It makes sense given Reid's position, though. Philly fans want results now, and he theoretically wants to keep his job (a concern made a lot more attention-demanding by the McNabb trade), so he doesn't have the time to just give Kolb the keys to the car and see how he drives.

The problem is that Mike Vick, Slayer of Detroit, is not going to give you results now. He's going to give you highlight-reel plays that will run over announcers talking about how the Eagles lost again. And if Reid is (potentially) sabotaging the future of the team to save his job this year, he needs firing today.

Even more than he already did, I mean.

Vick's also 30 and one good knee injury away from being completely useless as a quarterback. The Eagles are absolutely insane if they trade away Kolb after dumping McNabb.

I'd bet on this decision being forced on Reid from above, since it would be utterly insane to go into win now mode after trading away Donovan McNabb in the offseason.

Well, yes, you know this and I know this, but most people don't know this, because Vick is a "proven winner" thanks to that one NFCCG the Falcons got to.

And if Reid is (potentially) sabotaging the future of the team to save his job this year, he needs firing today.

This may be true, but I can't imagine the mentality is going to change even if the coach does. Philly fans are not exactly known for their patience and kindness. They're going to want the team to win now regardless of who's in charge, and they'll be calling for the head of any coach that decides to go the rebuild route. Hell, super basically points out as much at the top of this very page.

Coaching the Eagles really is a no-win situation. Frankly, I'm mildly surprised Reid hasn't resigned yet.

Kilga, are you expecting Morris or Taylor to pick up more carries now that Faulk's on IR? I'm still tempted to make a waiver claim on Taylor, but I do not trust him to stay healthy.

I know, he's so much less of a choker than that jackass who only got to five NFCCGs and one Super Bowl.

(Seriously, I still marvel at that. In the 10 seasons that Donovan McNabb quarterbacked the Eagles - not counting the Jeff Garcia Era - they reached the conference championship half the time. Factor out the Mike McMahon Experience and it's more than half the time. That is friggin' crazy.)

I wouldn't touch the New England RB situation with a ten-foot pole. I actually have a sneaking suspicion BJGE will be the pickup of choice if anyone in that backfield is.

For what it's worth, Morris will probably become the new third-down back, assuming they don't go out and get a stopgap. This leads me to believe Taylor will get more carries of the two. It's just a question of whether or not Taylor gets more carries than Law Firm.
