Lavos (CT) vs Profound Darkness (PS4): Lavos is pretty scary to me these days, but PD is still just such a monster. Don't think Lavos' better speed makes up for the durability gap.

Heavy:

*Alena (DQ4)* vs Ephraim (FE8): I will admit I kinda want to vote Eph to have an interesting finals but I really suspect this is Alena's match.
Masaji Kato (SH2) vs Elieen (S1): Status.

Peppita Rosetti (SO3) vs *Tifa Lockheart (FF7)*: I presume she has the damage control for this.
Isabel (S5) vs Jude Maverick (WA4): I... doubt Isabel's def lets her tough this out.

Isabel (S5) vs Jude Maverick (WA4): 3HKOs and nerfs Jude's only good damage pretty hard.

The earrings have a slashing animation in DQ4DS which really suggests they're melee to me. I guess they could be thrown and slashing but overall it seems less likely.

*Masaji Kato (SH2)* vs Elieen (S1) - I don't know about other people, but I see the Gem/Sword/Mirror as legal for Kato.  They're not much different than, say, Yuna's Aeons, Lady's Umbral, or, as a lesser extent, Ultimecia and Guv's Call Team.  They've already been killed proper before this battle, and it's pretty solidly Kato's will that summons them there.

That said...  If Eileen tries to EQ them away, she leaves herself open to a Howl.  If she goes for CF, she leaves herself open to dispel from the Gem, and THEN a Howl.

The way I do is have the boss face six PCs, three at a time.  No offense/defense support though (I could see allowing basic physical for offense support and basic defend command for defense support, since those are what they start at character specific upgrades but I dunno).

Alena (DQ4) vs Ephraim (FE8) - Think super's right. Eph needs the 2HKO here and he kinda doesn't get it. Alena probably -doubles- to boot, which essentially mitigates counters.

Peppita Rosetti (SO3) vs Tifa Lockheart (FF7) - Don't think Minerva stops Frozen Daggers from working, which is pretty much game. Peppita should have the damage control she needs to pull off this fight otherwise to boot.
Isabel (S5) vs Jude Maverick (WA4) - Waaaaaaaaaaay too much of a speed disadvantage on Isabel's side for the defense to truly mitigate Assault Buster here, methinks.

Peco (BoF3) vs Shabon (S3) - Kneejerk, really.

Isabel (S5) vs Jude Maverick (WA4) - Isabel's defence is slightly above average so the defence hype goesover my head. Regardless she could have game best and she'd still be a smear on the floor from Judes Assualt buster so whatever.

Sure, if by "average damage" you mean "OHKO physicals and near-OHKO magic". You'd probably have to be like L60 to turn PD's damage into a 3HKO unless you factor in defensive buffs against boss offense, in which case a lot of bosses weep silently in the rain (and you'd probably have to be like L55 -anyway-).

Buffs definitely would recolor your view of the damage, since it makes her damage manageable. Remember: PS4 defensive buffs are quite godly. As for Lashiec, you -will- have less potent MT healing to handle him, so his damage can seem more threatening in-game regardless, and then there's the fact that buffs get more potent the higher your stats get.

Isabel (S5) vs Jude Maverick (WA4) - Also easy. The speed disadvantage that Isabel has is just too great for the defense to mitigate out.

Well then Lashiec gets more respect then PD for me. I have a savestate outside PD so I'll check her out before voting next time.
