Since there is no hockey topic and I feel like musing on the games, I am making a topic.

Last night was such an amazing game. That Henrik Sedin goal may have saved the series. My officemate the Canucks hater is sulking like mad. I laughed.

Today, the Devils fight for their playoff life, but they are going back home so hopefully that will help!

I think Ottawa may be the first team eliminated today~

I don't think my heart can take the way the Wings have been playing. It's fucking Phoenix, DESTROY THEM.

Here's to hoping that Luongo gets back in his groove.  Vancouver has been giving him plenty of support for once in the playoffs, but man he's not been himself.

Stupid Caps~

What does everyone think the most exciting series has been so far? I think Colorado/San Jose has been pretty exciting, and Van/LA of course bt I'm biased. :)

Colorado/San Jose has been kinda exciting in a "How the hell is that goalie carrying their team like that?" sort of way(Seriously, every game has been a one goal game, but the Sharks are outshooting the Avs by 174-103 and it's tied two apiece), but the games I saw were pretty boring really since it's a lot of San Jose offense and the Avs weren't doing much of anything.  I only saw bits of the middle two though, where SJ was really building that shot lead. <_<

Which has been the most exciting?  Hard to say since I don't get Versus so I can't see most of the games.  The only ones I've gotten to see are the Wing/Coyotes and that's been an up and down series as far as game quality is concerned.

Comments like this are why I'm cheering for the Coyotes (though I like the Wings well enough). Phoenix got 107 points this year (more than Detroit by the way), nobody is going to be just destroying them. How the hell are they still this colossal underdog? Watch more hockey.

I've been enjoying most of the series so far, particularly LA/Vancouver, Phoenix/Detroit, Pittsburgh/Ottawa, and the one Buffalo/Boston game I watched (4) was really good, too. Very competitive year, which is nice... every single series went to 1-1 which is apparently a first. Yay no sweeps.

Welp, so much for getting home to NJ in time to watch at least one Devils playoff game. The wake was during the game. They didn't deserve to win anyway from the way I gather they were playing. Hopefully the coach gets fired, as it seems the players just got fed up with the lines being shuffled every 3 minutes during the last quarter of the year or so. The person I feel bad for is Kovalchuck. He seemed to be the only person actually trying and the whole reason he was excited to be there was the chance to actually get further in the playoffs.

Any hockey team from the Sun Belt should play at a level of mild retardation when faced with any team from a place where people actually play hockey. That's just how it should always be, forever.

They were such a huge underdog at least partly because the Wings went in as one of the hottest teams in the league at the end of the season.  The Wings were something like 16-3-2 after the Olympic break.  Also, the Wings obviously have a hell of a lot more playoff experience than the Coyotes do, which counts for a lot for some people.  So no, I really don't think considering the Red Wings a favorite is really all that far fetched despite the seeding.  Expecting them to utterly destroy the Coyotes is probably going too far but considering them a favorite makes perfect sense to me.

Phoenix was only like, one game worse post-olympics (and notably better before, of course). Nobody noticed because it's Phoenix.

I have no problem with considering the Wings the favourite (don't think I agree, think they're too close to have an easy favourite), but it's comments like Rob's being common which just irked me. It's easy enough to see why, since it's a combination of Phoenix disrespect (lol Bettman) and overrating the Wings (who seem worse this year, they aren't the offensive threat they used to be with the loss of Hossa and Samuellson, and Lidstrom is starting to look like he might only be top 10 defencemen material instead of Mr. Norris Trophy). It makes sense, but it still annoys me.

Or Vancouver can just put up 7 goals a game... that strategy works too!

So far the three teams I am actively cheering for are: 3-2, 2-3, 2-3. Really hope Phoenix/Buffalo can pull out the next two victories, but losing at home hurt for Phoenix.

The gross fangirlism of the announcers on the Red Wings is making me want to barf. I don't think you noticed but the Red Wings are uh losing.

It's professional sports.  The Red Wings are the Lakers/Yankees/Cowboys of the NHL world.

The score is 4-1 and still all they are talking about is how easy it is for the Red Wings to come back. -.- C'mon.

Lets see...  I have 4 other friends intersted in hockey and oddly enough all 5 of those series are done and none of "our" teams played each other.

Canucks win
Sharks win
Pit wins
Philly wins

Sabres lose

Looks like Canucks got their work cut out for them if I want bragging right this year.

If I was to compare them to one team in other sports, it would be the Spurs. Not because they play a terrible, boring version of the game, but because they have made the playoffs for long enough they are expected to make them forever. Which is good, because the city of Detroit has shit else to be proud.

I'm actually kind of sad Boston took it in 6 (even though it meant a home ice series win). A Rask/Miller Game 7 Duel could have been one for the ages with the way that series went.

The Red Wings have that random fan factor though.  Maybe it's just people I talk too... I'm definitely not as knowledgeable about hockey as I am Basketball and Football.  Just seems like random people that don't live in a city with a team are fans of the Red Wings, kind of like with the other teams I mentioned.  Spurs have made the playoffs forever, but they're not really a national favorite like the Red Wings are.
