Post-DLC5 Topic~
« on: August 16, 2010, 02:34:26 AM »
So, DLC5.

It was quite fun! Props to Gate and Jenna for helping us get the house. It was good! Kind of noisy, but good. Also had way too many people sleeping in random locations. Random people on stairs and such. I’m sure ya’ll could have found some floor space to stay on.

Glad to get to play SC4! I would like a 360 just for that. FF4TAS in French was good times.

Food was good. The Mexican place we went in downtown SF was pretty freaking amazing even though it was literally a trailer. Italian place was passable as well. When you guys went to Macaroni Grill I decided to bail because I wasn’t in the mood for it, having ate it the day before. We instead hit this rather awesome Thai restaurant near the hooker hotel.

Bowling was awesome as always! 123 on the second game was my highest at DLC? It was happy times. Playing DDR was … well… >_> no comment!

I got a Piplup from Djinn and a Piplup from Meeple. Life is good. I also got a Chikorita from Elfboy for him winning bowling~~~ SO MUCH CUTE!!! Thanks all three of you! <3.

Karaoke bar was too congested for me. I think I’d like something more if it was a private room instead of having to wait for people and being in front of other people. So Grefter and the elf and I wandered off because we didn’t feel like waiting, especially not a place which at least smelled smoky (not sure if that was the people in the bar or if there was actually smoking there…) Glad you guys had fun though. I wanted to talk with Djinn more there because I hadn’t had the chance to corner him before that. Well, whatever, hopefully we will be at next con!

Grefter is awesome. I already knew this, but he was an amazing houseguest; completely undemanding and one hilarious dude. He’s quite a classy guy too, very down to earth and very adultlike. He’s definitely the person I feel like I know a lot better now. Move to Vancouver!!!!

Meeple stayed with us a couple of days and definitely required more energy in those two days than Grefter required in two weeks. We had a lot fun together talking about stuff though and things were good. Car trip was quite fun. I enjoy bullying the Meeple~

I played my first game of Arkham Horror here. It takes a loooong time, but it’s good times. It reminds me a bit of DnD. Andy and Ashley were evil GMs. :( Grefter is the true being of evil, though. Two successes to close gates when there are two at -3? ;_; Yeah, it was bad. We lost. :(

I’m glad to see Kaitlyn in good spirits; you look absolutely awesome and I’m so happy to see you every time I see you. Your happy disposition makes me happier by proxy.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaagggyyyyyyyyyy wasn’t around enough but I got to annoy him/pick his brain a couple times. Awesomeness. I need to come down and just visit you at some point~ And hopefully drag Excal along!

Got to talk to Tallychu a bit, which made me happy~

Super…. Oh Super. You set yourself to be the infinite whipping boy. It’s kind of cute how much you love to be ridiculed~! And sad. Tai is doing his civic duty by threatening you with a baseball bat at all times. ^.^

Dhyer! Always fun to talk and be catty with you. I’m sorry the hottie was married.

OK! You are totally insane and I love you for it. Hope that all continues to go well with you~ And hopefully we can host the Con at your place next year!??!

Tai: Thanks for FFTA2! I will hopefully enjoy it~

New people!

Rat is amazingly normal and polite and it confuses me because I always thought he was ultra crazy. Like, hair that sticks in the hair, unkempt, which is basically the opposite of what Rat actually is. Probably the most kempt person at the Con in fact!

Archmage (Brian~!) is a cool dude, very laid-back and fun to talk to. I hope you had fun hanging out with all us crazy folks even if you don’t know a lot of us all that well.

Chiaki doesn’t talk much but he seems like a fun guy. ^_^ I approve of the pink DS! Hope you have fun in the States.

Getting to hang out at the airport with Jenna, as annoying as airports can be, was awesome. I felt like I was one of the few people who actually got to chat with her for a long period of time. I tried to take the time to corner everyone but since I had to leave early it was pretty difficult. I love the sprog too. Very cute kid.

Great time as always. Missed Hal and Shale and Pyro and Xer a lot. :(

On a side note: Great fun with my plane. I get to the BART station at like 9. I have trouble getting a ticket, I sit around waiting for a transfer for like nine minutes, and I was two minutes from missing my plane. It was epic. I got sent through the priority security even because I was so late and I had to run places. I was just glad my gate was close. I think I just underestimated the travel time rather epically.

If this post seems fragmented, that’s because I am kinda tired right now and I am typing all this on an airplane.

Anyway, I will emphasize that the Con was sweet and I can’t wait to go to one next year~ <3

You also missed Djinn and I singing the Beer Song during the Trivia contest and OK and I singing the internet is for porn song. DLC6: The Musical is clearly next on the agenda.

Will post more later, at Dallas airport right now.

Between Dhyer and myself deliberately overtly discussing Dhyer's mystery man crush I would say it is a fair statement to say that the yaoi was completely lacking in subtext.

You would have liked him Snow, good jaw line and dress sense from what I saw and Dhyer is going to need to find someone to cast dispel magic on him to remove the Dominate effect he is under from his weakness to the guy's Mesmerize attack with his eyes.  He worked at a book shop.

And then there was the time we got Super to declare himself a Bear and the endless good times that were had after that.

Edit - Of course there was standard degrees of yaoi subtext underneath all of that.

This campaign was pretty important, given that it was the first time I've actually been able to work up the nerve to hit on a guy in a very public, non-homosexual arena (...not that I've really hit on a guy in the other arena first). But I'm pretty sure that spoke more than enough about that actual con

After the last couple of days, I don't even have thoughts (other than laughing at Super's twist of sleeping fate now!!) and I quite enjoyed talking to Tal for 2? or more hours really heavily hashing out how various MK 2 rankings and view could fall out.

Don't worry, 20 more married guys and you might develop gaydar.

Anyway, con was sweet.  Adored having absolutely anything we could reasonably want in comfortable walking distance.  Despite the blisters I developed after Saturday~
(Heck, even the movie theater we needed was PROBABLY doable on foot, but not at that time of night sadly.)

May or may not say more later.

The plane trip over to San fran was painless this year, other than a minor delay thanks to fog. I chose window seats for the hell of it, and get to see the Mississippi River and the Grand Caynon on the way over. I was met in the airport by Andrew, Ashley, and Soppy. I was pretty quiet for most of the trip, due to lack of sleep and just generally taking in the sights. There was some confusion on the way out thanks to SF massively failing at labelling parking lots, but nothing too bad. Traffic was pretty terrible on the way to Oakland, where I was crashing for Thursday night. We had a very brief toro and Jenna appearance that day as well, during the scramble out of the airport. We get to Ash and Andy's apartment, and I get to meet Djinn and Chiaki.

It's mid afternoon at this point, and everyone's ready for some food. A quick In and Out run later, we have dinner. The food was solid enough, and the conversation was definitely entertaining. Soppy, Djinn, Chiaki, and Andy were setting up a four playaer game of Scott Pilgrim, while Ashley went to take Tally for a walk. I tagged along with her for the walk and got a nice tour of downtown Oakland. We get back, and Djinn, Ashley, and Chiaki wander off for food. Soppy, Andy, and I play a silly card game I'm too tired to make heads or tails of, and they set up Arkham. I pass on Arkham due to being dead tired, and barely stay up long enough to see Chiaki and Andy make cookies.

I got up at 4am Friday by somehow falling/jumping out of bed and smacking my head on the couch. Djinn couldn't sleep, so we both got up and started talking. Poor Soppy couldn't go back to sleep with all the noise, so he joined us. It's mostly talking and reading until 9am when Ashley gets up. She is taking Tally to the dog park, and I tag along since I wasn't up for games and walking along the bay sounded fun. We ended up spending over an hour in the park walking around while Tally charged into every dog he saw. The view was great, and other than a brief scare with something getting dropped, it was a pretty mellow trip. We walk back into the apartment at 11am to the sight of some Blazblue Omakes, which varied from hilariously awful to just awful.

Ashley then goes to drop off Djinn/Chiaki/Soppy at the con house, then goes back to Oakland to pick up Dhyer at the airport/Andy/myself. She gets held up pretty badly by traffic, so Andy and I spend a few hours in the apartment relaxing. I read a little, and he plays some Blazblue. We ended up both playing street fighter 4 and failing miserably at it, but at least it was entertaining. The con house was the usual scramble to meet new people, see old friends, and see who's doing what. Arch and Rat were the only new people this con, and it took way too long to start telling them apart. There's some Poker and Arkham Horror played, both of which I lose badly. Dinner was a salad and some bread at a pasta place. After Arkham ended, Dhyer, Miki, OK, and I talk for a while before crashing at 2am.

Saturday involved 95% of the horde going to get breakfast at IHOP. I wasn't up for that, so I stayed back with Niu and talked for a little while. Ashley had to go back to Oakland, so I tagged along with her- good thing I did, as I left behind a couple of books at her place. Djinn and Chiaki had just gotten up, and everyone else was still at IHOP. We decided to go out and eat, which turned into a bit of a walk due to bad directions/confusion. We spent about an hour wandering around El Cierrato's shopping plaza looking for a sandwhich shop and taking in the scenery. By the time we finish lunch at Junkets, it's late enough that we are better off going straight to bowling.  We make a reseveration at the Macaroni Grill for 5pm, then hit the alley. Ashley ends up having to pick up people right as we get there, so Djinn/Chiaki/myself kill some time there. I play DDR and horrify poor Chiaki, and then he and Djinn get in a couple of DDR matches. Soppy and Andy appear with Ashley at this point, and poor Soppy staggers in sick with a case of con crud. Bowling is the usual fun, but I skip this year due to the price and spend most of the time wandering around talking to people. Did anyone get a picture of the Al Davis jersey the guy in the alley next to us had on?

The group then splits up- a large part goes to barnes and noble instead of going back, and the rest go back to the house. I pick up a Gaiman short story collection, Dhyer picks up a bunch of books and drools over one of the cashiers there, and Elfboy gets warbreaker and the Mistborn trilogy. Dinner at the grill is fun; I'll let Andy and Djinn tell the story of their mad works. We get back, I 'run' the trivia contest which was hilariously chaotic thanks to my lack of planning. Niu has the moment of the game with his utter insanity, with the singing catagory (Thanks Djinn!) being a close second. After that, a small group of us run off for some ice cream, run back to the house, and head off to Karoke. The bar is utterly crowded. I have a single shot of crown royal and get to see MC and Djinn do awesome work on the stage.

I stay for a couple of horus and split right before Ash and Djinn were going up for a duet- I couldn't take the noise any longer, I had the earache from hell. I walk back with Cmdr and Dhyer, and have a blast talking with them. Dhyer's still buzzing about the guy at the bookstore, and Cmdr and I talked again- which is weird, we never talk at cons. I get back and kill some time talking to OK about Karoke. The rest of the horde from the club returns, and a group of us (Dhyer/Ashley/Cmdr/Grefter) talk for a bit before a group of us settle into a badass game of apples to apples. It was... hell. Miki, myself, Ashley, Djinn, OK, Archmage (Sub for players who had to get up), and Cmdr play for a couple of hours. We have to stop at 2:30am due to noise, and I finally crash. Poor Dhyer gets woken up several times as well thanks to my tossing and turning- sorry man.

I wake up sunday morning at 7am. Most of the morning is just hanging around the house, not doing much to let my poor abused feet recover. Ciato's out the door early today, so everyone who is up says goodbye with way too many hugs given out. OK and I spend some time listening to music and even have a few awesome moments of random singing. A small group of us (Cmdr/Ashley/Djinn/Chiaki/myself/OK) then head out for food.  Everyone but Ash and Cmdr has a hotdog, Cmdr has a subway sandwhich. We also hit up a comic book store, where Ashley picks up a Sandman spinoff comic and someone buys Scott Pilgrim magna. We meet a group of people on the way out to town for food. OK and I go back to the house and talk, while the rest head out for food. I sneak in a quick game of spades with Tonfa, Miki, and Tal with Tonfa's AWESOME cards. The game's stopped by everyone returning and the music quiz starting! The quiz was too heavy on the obscure tracks this time, but it was still fun enough. I play a game of Betrayal at the house (Poor Andy was the traitor, and god his setup sucked), and then watch a second game where MC is the traitor and she is the evil little girl and slaughters everyone else. Dinner is just a quick run to El Cierrato plaza for food. Gate, Tal, Dhyer, Tonfa, Nitori, and eat some Panda Express. I spend the time talking Soul Nomad with the group, and get some much needed BS time in with Tonfa. It's then back to the house! People decide to head to Berkley for the Scott Pilgrim movie. About a dozen of us head over there- I ride with with Monkey and Soppy. The movie is great fun, and seeing it in a random indy theater in Berkley made it even cooler. We get back to the house around midnight. A few people (Ashley/Cmdr/Andy/Djinn/OK/Gate) want to run off for a late snack. At this point, I'm beyond tired and have to get up in 6 hours. Do I:

A: Do the smart thing and go to sleep, since I have to travel cross country the next day
B: Show my usual common sense and say fuck it and go hang out?

If you know me, you know what I did. I wasn't hungry so I skipped on the food, though I did steal one of Andy's fries.  After a spirited round of musical chairs and attempting to break Djinn's ribs with a hug, it ends up with OK/myself/Ashley at one table talking about dieting at one table while Andy and Djinn talk about the IAQ at another, with Gate/Cmdr at another table. We get back at around 2am. I can't sleep, so I talk with OK for a bit, then briefly with Andy/Soppy before deciding it's pass out time around 3:30am. I get up at 6am (Dhyer had to kick me out of bed, I slept through the alarm), toro to the BART station with Gate, and get to SF. I get through SF pretty painlessly, minus being zonked and waiting too long in a line for my boarding pass. I doze on and off on the way to Dallas, get some awesome McDonalds at Dallas airport and some time on a free internet computer, then read some of Fragile Things while waiting (3 hour layover) for the flight home. The final leg home is mostly boring, though I do get to see an amazing sunset. There's also an amazing thunderstorm I see as we head over Richmond and the hampton roads area. I can't really do the imagery justice with words- there is something about watching lighting bouncing from cloud to cloud, illuminating darkness that is visually breathtaking. I land, scream bloody murder about the heat, talk briefly to parents when I get home, and pass out for ten hours.

People!

Ashley- Person I spend the most time with/talking to this con. The walks through Oakland and Point Isabel were great, as it gave some cool local flavor to things.  It is generally fun to talk with her about books and other shared interests like exercise as well. She got the short end of the stick at points with driving people around but that happens when you host cons. Props to her for outmanning the guys and managing to tie Djinn in an extremely perverted game of apples to apples, and also for not strangling most of the con for various comments like this:

Ashley: "Come on guys, even I know this song."
Meeple: "Wouldn't it be from cooking mama then?"

She also did a really good job trying to herd people along when it had to be done, especially with the Macaroni Grill stuff.

OK- Person I spent the second most time talking with, and the only reason it wasn't first was because we barely saw each other friday. We ran the usual comments on relationships/life/the con, along with generally eating at the same places and doing the same board games. OK has the best stories, including one of my all time favorites about a young lady in the ER which can't be repeated in public.  OK: I also accidently took back the second Days of Infamy book with me.

Djinn- The person I spent the third most time with this con. He was the life of the party as always, and always ready to both insult and be insulted. While my poor brain may never recover from the trauma of using Djinn's computer, it was still great to see him and listen to talk about life in Japan. I did spend a fair bit of time with Chiaki, but barely spoke to him for obvious reasons. Listening to him go Baka every time he made a mistake when playing a game was funny though!

Cmdr- For the first time in ever at a con, I actually got around to spending time talking with him. he definitely felt chattier than usual this year, and much more active in general.

Dhyer- Covered it pretty well in the writeup. Lots of talking and general cattiness, plus an extra dose of me making his insomnia worse. Sorry dude.

Grefter- Still a commie and has horrible taste in quilts.

I spent a lot of time talking to others, but that was the main crew I spent a lot of time with. I tried to talk to Elfboy and Ciato a fair bit, and definitely wanted more time with all of Laggy's crew. Was really good to meet you, Archmage.

I may or may not post more about this later (like, say, once the con is actually over; you'd never know it ended Monday by the number of people that are still hanging around!), but I definitely wanted to say this weekend was fantastically fun and I totally love you guys, even being the crazy lot of perverted, introverted gamerbois that many most of you are (and also the ladies, who are simply fabulous).

Karaoke was ridiculously entertaining once we managed to steal some seat space. Mega thanks to everyone who stayed for singing at least once - and also thanks for suffering through my singing not just once, but twice. Congrats to DJ, too, for managing to flirt shamelessly with every single lady in the bar. Ask him to talk about his finale singing Britney Spears.

Edited to add: When I say DJ flirted with "every single lady," I don't mean just the ladies who were without boyfriends.

Definite, huge THANK YOU to the people who wanted to be outside in the sun (or half-moon) for most of the weekend, allowing me to escape the confines of a very loud and echo-y house full of "REBEL 1! Counter. Counter. Counter. Counter. 'How can this be?!' Counter." and PSPs. I really enjoyed the conversations I got to have with the few people I got a chance to properly chat with. It's sometimes awkward for me at DLCon since I have so little in common with everyone's gaming interests (board and card games aside), but being able to talk books and school and life made the con great for me.

It was wonderful to see you all again, and nice to meet some new people who also turned out to be super awesome. :)

Also had way too many people sleeping in random locations. Random people on stairs and such. I’m sure ya’ll could have found some floor space to stay on.

Yeah, the floor on the ground level.  Which was cold as hell.  Stairs are definitely a step up from the alternatives.  I ended up moving to the bathroom because I couldn't sleep due to freezing to death, and that was more in the way than the stairs (got kicked out at around 8:30 AM due to the bathroom needing to be used).

That aside, definitely had a blast this con.  Lots of fun stuff going on, though as usual we needed more variety in video game playing.  Too much Scott Pilgrim/BlazBlue, even if it was a huge step up from the massive amounts of Brawl from last year.  Never did get to show off Trinity Universe but did get to show Nier.

At least my Blazblue lecture over Hazama turns out to be effective.

Good fun. I'll post more detailed thoughts later, just wanted to post, at large, if anyone acquired an extra PS3 USB/Controller cable? Mine went MIA. ;_;

That went missing? It was still around when I left... but I left early anyway.

USB cable with a small head labeled "B" on one end, right?  I have it.  Mistook it for the USB cable for my camera.  PM me your address and I'll send it your way.

Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

Just noting that I got back fine with no hitches.  I could have chosen to come back like 16 hours later in 1st Class and with a bunch of awesome other perks...but I turned it down...almost kind of regret doing that too!  But lets not get into that.

Will have a larger, more interesting (?) post later.

And now, boring story time.

Friday morning.  I opt not to sleep after working Thursday, since I was leaving ridiculously early to get to the airport.  In talking with people who'd be up by detroit lately, I discovered the highway exits into DTW were on roads under construction, which had been reduced to 1 lane.  So, traffic bottlenecks, things like 2 hour delays, things of that nature.  These turned out to be true.

It also turned out to be true that said lanes were only closed from friday night to sunday evening.  So, having left home at 4:30 or so, I get to the airport shortly before 6.  My flight leaves around 9:30.  My ride happened to drop me at the wrong terminal, but given my ridiculous buffer it was simpler to send him on his way and get there from inside myself.  Took me a minute to work out that there wasn't an internal pathway, and that they used shuttles for this purpose, but that's okay, not like they charged for them.  At this stage it's still barely after 6, so there's no issue getting through security, grabbing breakfast, and settling in at my with enough time to read about 300 pages of Sanderson before boarding. Things from here proceed as they often do.  I read another 100 or so pages of my book before deciding to doze for the rest of the flight.  I suspect that I get, between sessions, about an hour of sleep here.  From the plane I head off to wait in baggage claim, and read more.  After about half an hour Jenna and Kier wander over; they'd been waiting at niu's claim, since he was coming in later, but realized I didn't know what carrier he was using and claimed me while waiting.  It turns out that he was delayed anyway, so it was another hour perhaps before we got going.  I'm convinced now that Kier must've been tired at this point, because he sat down, played DS, and only got up every 15 minutes or so to check when Niu was getting in.

Since traffic over the Bay Bridge was pretty bad, it was around 3 before we got to the house.  Now, at this stage I cannot actually remember what all I did on Friday.  I think Jim roped me into some card game, and I watched the end of texas hold'em perhaps.  Anyway, dinner I remember better, and it involved the italian place with a group of... hm.  Super, Ciato, Elf, Met, Meeple, Tal, Grefter, Laggy, Rat, and Archmage, with Niu and Tonfa joining late and not only not sitting with us, but not sitting together.  It was funny.    Dinner wasn't thrilling, but that's my fault; I ordered the tortellini despite misgivings about the sauce used, and it turned out bland.  Anyway, sitting in the middle of the table, I was able to dip in and out of two conversations but not really follow either correctly.  Damn.  Evening activities are more blurr... I don't think  I remember anything about it in fact.  Perhaps this was the first bit of Scott Pilgrim game.  I know, though, that I zonked out early (well, 12ish).

Next morning involved the Niu game parade, I think.  This was a lot of fun, not because of anything the games were doing but because Dhyer was highly entertaining when presented with stripping loli girls.  I recall the phrase "I've never been so glad to see a woman's breasts".  ... or was this Saturday morning?  That's where I want to put it anyway.  Eventually, around 11, the great migration to IHOP takes place, where I end up sitting with Sopko, Meeple, and Nitori (the only time I really see Nitori during the con).  What was said I can no longer say.  Frustrating.  Anyway, get back from that, and quite quickly Ciato and a group head out just to get out and walk about.  I can't really remember where we even WENT this time, but there was much Suikoden talk.  When we get back from that, it's time for Jeopardy (for a given definition of that).  Didn't do all that well, though.  Or... hm.  Maybe that was at a different time.  Anyway, then!  Bowling.  I did much better than in years past here, and the side show of DDR hype was nice.  After this I go with those who splinter off to hit the book store, pick up a little Gaiman.  Afterwards, macaroni grill.  Wasn't impressed with this place; got a safe chicken parm and was disappointed with the sauce.  Very bland, and not enough of it.  Anyway, on the way back, I end up with a crew including Djinn, Chiaki, Meeple and Kier, and we spot a comic shop.  They turn out to be trying to get some collectable games as well, and I snag a copy of Suikoden III for the Vancouverites.  Back at the house, I immediately set off again for the Luckys, realizing that a) I need something to drink besides coke and b) I've managed to chaff a bug bite on my leg so badly it's bleeding a bit.  Anyway, after that I chill for perhaps an hour, just floating about, until ice cream is declared.  Pretty good, if melty.  THEN Karaoke was declared when we get back.  The walk was fun, but the bar itself wasn't much.  They're really only set up to seat perhaps 25 in their singing zone, and there were already 20 back there.  I stay long enough for 3 drinks (although I don't finish the last) and in this time Djinn, Met, and Jim get some singing in.  Andy proclaims himself drunk almost immediately for some reason, although it must be said this bar poured reasonably strong drinks.  After finally getting a seat and not touching my last drink, super gives up and I and Dhyer go with.  I find one or two people still up when I get back to the house, and about an hour later the rest of the singing crew join in.  Apples to Apples happens, and runs to about 2:30 or so at which point Toro appeared to destroy us.  I'd found a closet with another sleeping bag in it earlier, and grabbed some floor space for a bit until Meeple got up, at which point I snagged the couch and slept until about 8:30 or 9.

Nothing much happens until about 11, at which point I join Ash, Andy, Djinn, Chiaki, and Super for lunch wandering.  Ash never does eat that I see, and the rest grabbed hot dogs, but I held off and eventually I decided everyone had humored me long enough and grabbed some Subway.  On the way back, we run into Elfboy, Tai, and... I believe OK.. wait, no.  OK started out with us, then Andy joined.  A few splinter off back to the house, I decide to resume wandering.  Tai breaks off for some Nations, while we let the other two grab some Rubios while we idle.  Getting back from that (perhaps stopping over at the comic place again?) it's time for the music quiz.  I perform shamefully.  not too long after this, it's time to head off for dinner, where I end up with Sopko, Met, Meeple, OK and... hm.  I forget.  OH!  Jim.  It takes us a while, but we end up at a sushi place, which was pretty decent.  We hit ice cream on the way back, which is where Jim got the picture of himself, after which I don't really remember what I did until the movie.  The awesomeness of that has been well covered, although we get damn near parked in by what I've taken to assuming is a hooker trying to leave.  After that, a few people head out again for late night Nations, and since going out with every group willing to has worked out so far, I go with.  Djinn, Andy, Ashley, Super, OK, Gate, and Sopko end up there, with Monkey eating then splitting.  I decide to sit in on Soppy and Gate trading RPing stories, which was a lot of fun.  We hang for a couple of hours at least, before heading back, staying up just a bit chatting.  After that breaks up, I hide out in the back room and read for a bit, then grab a shower while it's open, then read a bit more while my hair dries.  I give up on waiting out the night around 4:30 and grab some floor space, then again grab some couch once that opens up and sleep until perhaps 9.  I really thought it was later, too.

Gate, Grefter, I believe OK? and Tonfa decide to grab some breakfast, so I check out the donut place.  Not bad, although I'm so used to donut holes being cake style I was a little thrown by that.  We also let Tonfa nab some books and scope out the game store before heading back and doing final check on the house.  after that, time to BART our way to somewhere convenient to Pacifica, followed by chillng at Gate's until heading out for my flight.  for some damned reason I end up dozing heavily at this point, and generally being worthless to the world until Tai fed us some of his croissant deals.  After that I was, while not conversational, at least AWARE of the world and read a bit until we left for the airport.  This similarly goes pretty well.  I get some reading done at my gate and again waiting for takeoff, ending up at about page 550 of 740.  I don't read on the flight, at first thinking to grab some sleep, but later just because people on either side of me HAD and I'd have felt bad about that.  We take off a bit late, but given the time of night they were able to skip a slight detour and get in more or less on time.  I wait a bit at the baggage claim, and juuuust get into the Sanderson Rush when I recognize my ride walking past the door and through another one.  I catch up to him, and thus we get going.  He ends up, out of habit, taking an exit that takes us on a scenic route back home, so it was nearly 8:30 when I got home, but eh.

So yeah.  For the life of me I can't remember a lot of the specific conversations that had gone on, and didn't hang out with the folks from Laggy's crew so no people breakdown this year.  Which pretty well raps this up then.

Short version:

Grefter is awesome ^_^

I feel like I actually had non-negligible conversations with a few people whose mutual introvertedness had kept us from talking much at previous cons (like Lady Door and Tal) so yay.

Con needed more Laggy (yeah, I know, he got sick.  Bah!  Back in my day, we went to NEW JERSEY just to go to DL Con, talk about sick!)

Sad that Shale and Zenny weren't there (and Hal misses for the second year ;_; )

Karaoke was surprisingly fun.  We should aim to do it again next year.

Got along really quite well with Archmage; I do hope he keeps coming to these.

A grand total of zero rounds of smash played (which confirms my suspicions that it's on the decline for DL popularity.  Granted, a few of its biggest fans like Zenny and Sage not being around probably influenced this).

Bowling...my old method seems to be scoring steadily lower each con (DLC1 I think I broke 100) so...switched to a normal method for the second round.  Got me a higher score, but even one round of that made my right arm pretty sore (and the last few frames were pretty poor, possibly because my arm was tired).  Hm :/

More later.
