Didn't run this morning. Will do it tomorrow, I think. Too messed up about last night. Haven't eaten today yet, either, and it's not looking like I'm going to - stomach is churning and it'd all come back up again anyway. Ugh.

Not happy. Want exercise endorphins. :(

Ran. It was rough. W6D3 is 25 minutes of sustained running. Didn't do it. The gym was horribly humid. I was on the treadmill for 35 minutes, did 2.85 miles, but I didn't run the full 25.

So, note to self: don't wait. Gym FIRST thing in the morning. Drink water. Bring water. (Hadn't been, but I get too overheated now.)

Not going to repeat W6D3 since the end of this program is all sustained running and Monday's run, W7D1, is the same thing. So is the entirety of week 7, actually. So if I can't get 2 full 25 minute runs in by the end of the week, I'll stick with week 7 until I do.

This... is not going so well. I have hit my wall for running.

There are many things I could blame it on -- being tired, stressed, not eating well/enough -- but it simply feels like my body is rebelling and saying, "Nuh uh. No more."

... to which I say, of course, "Fuck you, YOU RUN, DAMN IT!"

Which leads to poor runs like today's, but at least it's sticking to a schedule. I may just be stuck on Week 7 for a while.

No, no I am not. It told me so today.

Foot pain + catching up on sleep + stomach rebelling = no run today.

I'll check how I am on Friday. I at the very least would like to be cardio active, and since I can't walk the dog until the 10th, this probably just means going to the gym and cycling or using the elliptical or something.

Going to be on week 7 foreverrrrr.

Just yeah please look after yourself, exercise isn't about pushing yourself until your body breaks.  That is what employment is about.

Sleeping issues are annoying as hell.

Moving the run schedule to Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. Not as satisfying and in sync with my work schedule as I'd like, but since I regularly have trouble sleeping well on Sunday nights and I regularly am out late on Thursday nights, it doesn't make sense to make getting up to run even harder than it has been.

Did not run today. Will run, or do something, tomorrow.

Between being overworked in the mornings and rainouts, I've had to call this week a wash as far as C25K goes. I re-did the last day of week 2 to try and keep in some kind of shape, and will star week 3 on Monday.

2 1.25mi runs (separated by 1.5 hrs of class) each 12 minutes, carrying about a 5lbs backpack.  I'm getting better at sustained running, can make it about 1/3 of the way without walking now, though I break frequently thereafter.  It's really a strain to run for sustained periods of time without breaking, so I try to make up for that by taking the shortest breaks I can, usually about 10 seconds for about a minute of running.  I gotta say, I feel pretty good all things considered, though my "unique" sense of time management usually means I'm still panting and sweating when class starts.

I am still badly out of shape, by which I mean Week 3 is pain. Might need to insert another transition week between this and week 4's 3-5-3-5 cycle.

I did the elliptical for 30 minutes on Saturday instead of running. My calves, shins, ankles and hips thank me for it. (2.0 miles, but I was also reading Wheel of Time so win/win for being cross-productive.)

Running picks up again tomorrow, I think.

In better news, I weighed myself again. (Talk about unlikely sentences.) New weight is 175, which means another 3 pounds down. 2 more before I reach my revised C25K goal, though I feel that's cheating a bit since I've been repeating weeks like crazy.

The really annoying part is that the weight loss seems to be happening when I don't run. Once C25K is over, I think I'm going to swap to cross training with 10 minute run warm-ups. My body tends to respond better to nutrition + strength training than cardio when it comes to weight loss. That's no real shocker, just a little disappointing. Stupid reality not bending to my will.

Being cross-productive is how I worked on losing most of my excess weight in high school - run on a treadmill and play a game, easily go at least 4 miles in an hour back then.  I do that now sometimes, mostly in the winter when I don't feel like running outside.  Works wonders - especially with finally being back in a semi-decent schedule for exercising and having money to actually purchase a decent diet >_>

Still can't run for 25 minutes. I am frustrated.

I think I will drop back to Week 6 starting tomorrow. I need to stop thinking about this program less sequentially, more landmark-y. Once I can do a run with no cheating and little struggle, I'll have "graduated" that run and move on to the next one.

Not sure why 25 minutes is such a wall for me. Partially I imagine it is the weight. IRONY.

Took the time off. Got kind of sick? Sorta? I don't know, but I felt like shit. Then I ate a bunch of sugar for my birthday and felt like shit on Monday and Tuesday.

Went to the gym this morning for 30 minutes anyway, because I do need to get back into gear. Someone was on my treadmill. :( I'd care less except it's the only one with a fan, and I die if I don't have moving air.

Did the elliptical for 1 mile instead, and then some general sit ups, push ups, leg lifts, arm raises with weights, etc. Not the most intense workout, but at least it was something.

ETA: Today's food is pretty good.

Breakfast: steel cut oats with apples, cinnamon, brown sugar
Lunch: half turkey + cheddar sandwich, salad with Italian dressing, apple
Snack: almonds, string cheese
Dinner: something with the cornish game hen and some veggies and potatoes, probably

So I ran my first ever 5K this morning, came in at 24:04, which is a lot better than I expected.  So that is pretty gratifying.  Also I hadn't done my laundry in a while, so I ran it commando in a pair of khakis.

Actually, only my thigh is a little sore.  other than that, I feel pretty good, aside from getting beat by the dean by about 45 seconds.
