Opera House Ultros is vulnerable to Stop, which I see as the same as Hold, so...

It's also faster than Nina. And quite frankly is his best overall form... most of the time. (Well, double Tentacle Lete River form is better if you allow that. It also beats Nina.) So your complaints here don't really make sense to me.

Opera House Ultros also has to face a Pincer attack which sort of invalidates any speed advantage he might have, although I'd be curious to know the average speed of the characters there... bringing Locke (since you have to...) probably changes things a bit, I would imagine.


For what it's worth, this particular person can get a level 4 sword tech off on Ultros before he takes his first turn. I find that... interesting, at the very least.

If the PC speed average is that much lower, I understand, but I tend to hold optional boss forms like the Opera House one to gimmicks. As for Lete... yeah, I'm not a big fan of Double Tentacle but he might win even without it.

He actually has first strike in that battle, but wastes it on a taunt ("Long time no see! Did you miss me?"). So if you want to hold him to that... well, that's pretty reasonable (and makes the form hate you, obviously), not that I do myself. If you don't (and throw out first strike as well, of course), he's as fast as Locke. Speed twinking barely exists at that point (Ninja Gear for +2 woot) and of course speed doesn't change with level, so I highly doubt there's any way you'd have a party that is actually faster than him through raw speed.

Also, as a word of caution for using YouTube videos, FF5-6 have adjustable enemy speed through the options menu, so y'never know - someone could have messed with it to make bosses appear faster/slower. I guess in both games you could argue there's a case to be made for taking bosses to the slowest setting but, poor documentation aside, the option is just a difficulty mode setting so I'd consider it as default like I do for most RPGs. This isn't really relevant in this case, though, I'm just randomly reminded of it.

Yeah, LP hits ANY buff.  I remember trying to throw up an Earth Resist on Natan...  And Lost Progress hit that just fine.  I don't believe that "(Element) Edge" and "(Element) Resist" buffs are that much different.
