OK brought to my attention: I need to change to a maybe. If, indeed, I am going to graduate school, then I will have to move a month prior to class starting in order to find some sort of living situation. In retrospect, this is pretty late . . . but it's either family-dorm living, or a house and Charles and I prefer the latter.

Put me down for a tentative maybe. I have the money and time, but I'm not convinced a 3-4 day trip to Texas just for DLCon is worth the money. Maybe if it was a whole week or not in Texas (really trying to not offend Hal or Alex here). If I choose to go, I can't go to Las Vegas in July with my brother and a couple of friends. That's for 2 weeks, and I don't have to pay for hotels and all.

I'm not going to make it for Schlitterbahn (booooo), so instead I'll be there Thursday morning through Sunday evening. Won't consider myself "confirmed" until I actually buy plane tickets, and Andy's schedule still needs to be worked out, but there you have it.

A note: I will definitely be renting a car. I grew up about 1:45 southwest of Austin, and I haven't been there since 1997, so I'll be indulging my morbid curiosity for most of Thursday. It's near-ish San Antonio, so I might just hit up the River Walk while I'm down there too. Not sure if there's enough interest or enough car space to warrant anyone else heading down to spend time at the River Walk, but I thought I'd throw that out there. I know it has some really nice restaurants.

ETA: Hmm. This may require some thinking. Maybe I'll just fly down a little early, stay overnight in San Antonio, and then drive up to Austin on Thursday. Will see what my work schedule/finances allow.

Mmph. So, I've hit kind of a roadblock, here. If I get into JET, I have no need to conserve the time off my corporate masters give me and will totally go. However, if I don't get into JET, I really would rather use that time off to go to interviews for other positions, and would like to remain in good standing with my current overlords because being fired terrifies the shit out of me if this all doesn't work out, and I don't know if I'm going to have the time off remaining to go to interviews AND hang out with nerds.

I really hate to be wishy washy, but throw me back in the maybe pool. Since we're now currently getting the hotel situation figured out, all else fails, I can sleep in my car if I DO go last second.

Expected, but I'm totally out. This fucking sucks, because I feel like I made some really cool e-friendships. I've overmaxed my days off for the summer - 9 days in May for my future sister-in-law's graduation in Iowa, 4 days off for Florida in June and 9 days again in July-August for apartment searching in Boston.
