For cheapo netbooks, I have an Asus Eee, and it's served me well.
Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

My Asus netbook lasted me a pretty long time, see if you can pick up one of those?

So for those not in chat, for the past few weeks, I've been going through the application process for Delta. After I got back from Japan, I started tutoring part-time, but it's just not making enough money. Continuing my job-hunt, I stumbled across Delta's website and decided to see if they had any openings for something like a desk clerk.

Turns out the only position they were hiring was for Japanese-speaking Flight Attendants.

Well, Okay, I -suppose- I might as well apply for that. *barely contained excitement*

After putting in the online application and taking a few basic personality tests, I got an immediate email back telling me to call for a phone interview. After 4 hours of trying to get through the On Hold process, I finally got to take that interview (which I bombed).

But then they called me back anyway and said to take a phone/recorded/internet "test" for Japanese language. It was only 3 questions long, but the speaker was apparently sick since even my Japanese friends could understand what that guy was saying. After bombing that interview, they called me back anyway.

They said to come to Atlanta for a face-to-face interview session. They flew me up there yesterday and I met a lot of other candidates and we had a big group interview/question-asking session, and then some one-on-one interviews. For once, I shined and did not bomb an interview. I'm not sure I've ever performed so well at an interview in my life. And also I made friends with a lot of the other applicants. In fact, after the interview and before our flights left, a bunch of us went out to drink and karaoke in Atlanta.

Anyway, I just got back last night and now begins the *sigh* 2-week waiting process for them to get back to me.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Djinn.

Relatedly, interviewed with the EPA for a spring semester internship yesterday.  Thought it went pretty well.  This morning they emailed me that I got the position!

Also keeping fingers crossed, DJ! :D

Congrats, Jim! Just be careful. If Perry pulls ahead in the GOP primaries, the EPA may start feeling insecure. :(

(But seriously. That's fucking awesome. :D )

You know, I asked them about that in the interview, and they said they'd heard it before and weren't too concerned.

Based on patterns, you doing well at the interview means you didn't get the job.

I'll probably be assigned to the CERCLA New Jersey division.  Which is to say there will be leaks, but not the kind you want.

Some advice for you women who plan on getting married some day:  There is a corollary to Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle that you may not have learned in school.

You can tell a man what to do, or you can tell him how to do it.  If you try to do both, the results cannot be predicted.

So anyone following the minimeet topic will have seen that the water line connecting to the toilet came loose and water got everywhere in the bathroom, the kitchen and the hallway. Cleaning all that up was bad enough, but it gets better.

Oh boy does it ever get better.

The water was not content with soaking the top of the floor, and decided to soak THROUGH the floor. The hardwood floor in the kitchen and hallway will need to be torn up so they can dry underneath it and replace the stuff that was on top. The carpeted area that got soaked? Well, the water went through the carpet and into the mat underneath it. Which absorbed water like a giant sponge and has gotten soaked all the way down into the living room. Note that the water never made it that far, the mat under the carpet is what carried it down there.

What does this mean? Well, it means they have to tear up the carpet and dry the area underneath. With fans that will run for three days straight. Fans that are dehumidifiers as well.

Which means it's a health hazzard for us to stay here while they're running.

Which means we have to be out of the house for three days. Starting later today.

Which means I won't be online for awhile, as we're all going down to stay at Jenna's mom's house(you know, the one who just had HEART SURGERY) where there isn't a spare room so it's living room crashing for us.

Oh, and we have to take the cat with us as well. There are people down there allergic to the cat(thankfully NOT the woman who just had heart surgery), so this should be fun.

And by fun I mean the exact opposite.

Anyway, see you all in awhile.

Also, could someone who still talks to Tai pass this along to him for me? Thanks.

Bloody hell.

It wouldn't be a holiday if a family member didn't die.

Is it worse to have a funeral the day before or the day after Thanksgiving?

Looks like we're doing it the day after.

It was my father's brother - had metastatic lung cancer, presented with a massive esophageal bleed, ended up with anoxic brain injury, so it happened fast.  Still, very sudden, and his mother is distraught.

Alright, enough interviewing: I think I might get seriously ill and/or lose my visa if I interviewed anywhere else anyway.

I have accepted at Naughty Dog.
