Alright, enough interviewing: I think I might get seriously ill and/or lose my visa if I interviewed anywhere else anyway.

I have accepted at Naughty Dog.

Yay hugs!

Does that mean you're headed back to CA?

Yes, but LA, unfortunately.

Close enough to maybe do spontaneous road trips to see Laggy, I guess?

Hope it ends up a good place to work.

Near Dhyer and Niu.  Sounds like a rad party to me.  You can laugh at both of them for their great scathing remarks and scare Niu with hugs and putting things on high shelves.

Back home, finally. Yay.

The good: survived the stay at Jenna's mom's house. Her relative that had come over that hated me last time we met...seemed waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more chill this time. It has been years and I know people do change, but she was practically a different woman. Which is great, since she's about as shy as Super about sharing her opinions so if she had still hated me it would have been a very difficult week. Also, house has been all fixed up and the landlord will be shaving some off of next month's rent since we weren't able to use our house for 3-4 days. Dunno how much yet, but even just $100 would help alot.

The bad: sleeping on a mat on the floor for 4 days has done wonders for my back. As in it is a wonder my back still works after that. Owie. Jenna's in about the same shape. Also, upon arriving home we discover that the cleaning chemicals used while we were out have left a rather unpleasant, and extremely powerful, odor.

The ugly: cooking thanksgiving dinner for a family with the following dietary limitations. 1) a low sodium diet. And by low I mean as close to "no sodium" as possible. 2) a low fat diet. Again, by low fat I mean as close to fat free as possible. Same person as before, by the way. 3) no garlic. Same person as the previous two is allergic. 4) no onions. Not the same person, but someone that needed to be catered to, so onions was out. 5) a largely sugar-free diet. One person strongly on this diet, and the same person as the low sodium/fat diet is partially on it. Cooking without salt, fat, garlic, sugar or onion was...a thing. But I got it done somehow.

As a note, the woman on the very restrictive diet was Jenna's mother, who was letting us stay at her house and is on such a diet since she just had heart surgery. So we definately had to cater to her needs there. And the no onions person was HER aunt, a woman in her...late 70s, I think? Not going to tell someone that old that they can just eat something else when I can find a way to cook around it. Ended up making my own vegitable stock from scratch to "brine"(as much as you can call it that without salt) the turkey in overnight, a weird eggplant stuffing thing that I'll post the recipie for later because it was delicious(this is also what was the biggest pain in the ass too cook. I love eggplant but godDAMN is it difficult to work with), and some mashed potatoes with only the barest hint of margerine to help smooth it out a touch. All in all was good eats, just more effort then usual to make.

Wow. I'm sure it turned out surprisingly tasty anyway though - Gatecooker =) I tend not to go overboard on salt and sugar(don't really use them) and spices myself but I do sometimes like some flavouring like onions and garlic so I suppose there's stuffs that can be swapped in instead - I like oregano or basil if I'm not using garlic for example (not sure what I'd add instead of onions if I was doing a turkey/thanksgiving style dinner though) ~

So apparently last week's paycheck bounced.  I somehow suspect my boss will fight me on getting the money back.

Why do I bother getting up in the morning.

So Saturday we had a thanksgiving party and I got all drunk and decided to go along with these people who were going on a 6 hour hike.  It was worth it but by the time we were climbing the third fucking mountain I wanted to do nothing but die.  Fortunately this other dude was just as out of shape so it was mostly us bitching and moaning in the back.  The best.  It was still a lot of fun especially once it was over but I probably could have done without those last two hours given how out of shape I am.

Now today is an Elementary school day so I get to be all dancing and trying to play soccer with the kids at recess and not dying so yay.

Deposition tomorrow.  This will consist of me asking some dude from a bank questions for 6 or 7 hours while the bank's douchey attorney objects every other question.  If I were awake enough to feel emotion, I might be vaguely terrified.

I'm trying to find 'myself' in the least tragic way possible. I've discovered I'm very impressionable when people who just defended dissertations and/or are finished with their coursework are mildly interested in trying to decode my discursive and stuttering conversational skills. Seriously. Either I'm that 'person' that makes them look even better, or I'm severely underselling myself.

Finished both presentations for the semester. Apparently the first one was a raving success. The research process for the second one was amazingly insightful, but I ran constantly into the issue of unsupported evidence. My thesis is culled solely from extrapolating sources I don't believe I have any authority to praise or denounce considering my obvious lack of fieldwork. I have yet to receive word back from my professor as to my presentation. So, despite my semester technically ending 'active brain mode' at the end of this week, officially on the 21st of December, I'm either going to have to haul ass before my birthday on the 12lth to overhaul my paper, or I'm just going to hang with Berklee musicians, become a bohemian and live in my own little inner world.

Howdy gang!

Is this test too obscure?

Just made it, and just wondering for wondering sake.

Thanks!

When you were giving your presentation did you remember to do the old "hand them the sandwich" move?
