Neil Gaiman will be in my neck of the woods the day after DLC. Goddamn, finally, I am actually going to be in the SAME PLACE at the SAME TIME as one of my favorite authors.

Been actively trying to make a signing of his since 2006. (Which is not to say I don't have signed books - Andrew managed to get some for me!) Been a fan since I read Neverwhere in 2000 or so.

Only taken me 11 years!

Better late than never!

Reached Hong Kong myself. Only been a couple of days but trying to get more used to the area. The good news is, people tend to wake up early, so I'll likely be around chat when the majority of the people are back from work or what not.

Other than that, couple days >_>. So only so much has happened. My dad and I took a walk around the pier area between Kowloon and Hong Kong though yesterday. That took up a good 2 hours; the view is gorgeous though.

If it makes you feel better, I have more interest in what your hair looks like now than anything about your (thunder-stealing) friend! Pics~

To be fair, they are kind of bad pictures, and only one of them is of the new hair.

(Then again, if you're hoping for better ones, you might be waiting a while.)

while admittedly you still have a pic of yourself from last week (or whenever) as your profile, having a before and after is perfectly valid.

... great, now I'm thinking you should totally do the Death getup again and do a before and after using that.

My Facebook pic is from last year's DLC!

I will probably get some pictures at Vegas this weekend (yee haw) and then I'll have a new FB choice.

EDITED:

Or I'll just take another one at work instead. For those of you not on Facebook:

Before and after
Today
Look how short it is!

I'm really, really tempted to make that last one my profile pic on FB.

Back from TCGing it up in Vegas. Sleepy and have work tomorrow. Between rage and sorrow, had fun. Now three days of work before we flee again, this time to see ya'll.

Gonna be a brief week! Came in ~11:30pm last night, flight leaves at 6:30pm on Wednesday.

Las Vegas: Good times. I like Vegas more and more every time I visit. People-watching there is absolutely FASCINATING, though it's even more fun to see what your friends do when they hit Sin City. The Paris hotel was uninspiring (what the hell is it with hotels offering zero amenities? not even a mini-fridge in the room?), but it was comfy enough and had deliciously effective air conditioning.

I came back with a voice any chronic smoker would be proud of.

I also managed to win 2 nights at the Paris hotel and 2 tickets to see a show run by the Bally's group, so, hey, that's pretty damn awesome.

--

Best friend who recently got engaged asked me to be her long-distance (co-)maid of honor. The response to this from people I know has been, "Well, of course," to which I shrug. We've been together through a lot over the last 13 years, but we're remarkably different people. The most relevant aspect of that: she's a lapsed Christian who grew up dreaming about her wedding day, and I'm a moderate agnostic who's pretty nonplussed over the whole concept of marriage. This is sure to be an adventure.

I checked and found out I missed the regional qualifiers for M:tG by one week. Sure, I wouldn't have won or really competed or anything, but I would have liked to have gone and watched. Especially since it was at Scotiabank Place. Sad me.

However, things aren't all bad - the International Chicken-Rib Cookoff starts again on Wednesday. I didn't get a chance to buy any sauces last year, but I will for sure this time. Attention U.S. DLers, especially Texans - are there any specific names/restaurants I should be looking for that you'd highly recommend? I know it's a longshot that any of your local faves would make it here, but you never know...

I have started the Moving Process. Goddamn, Moving still sucks.

It sucks worse in Japan because you can't just throw things away, since it costs tons of money to buy the proper city-approved trashbags for each type of trash. Trying to sell a lot of it, but it's likely that the second-hand stores won't take/buy a lot of things, even new sets of dishes and cutlery that have never been used. Annoyingly, a lot of this stuff are things I inherited from the previous umpteen JETs that I've never used and now am responsible for throwing away.

I hate you, former JETs.

* Clear Tranquil went to the gym yesterday

Somebody I knew had a free pass and invited me as a friend. So we had a day out all day from 10-4 at a fancy posh health club gym place. It was a great day. I went to pilates, used the exercise ball, tried out a bunch of different machines and went back to the exercise ball later with weights =-) Had lunch, got changed and used the pool area after. Swimming pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, more swimming pool and loungers. Finally to finish off the day we had tea/coffee and dessert in the cafe before leaving. Overall as an experience it was really something else =-)
