Edit* I realized that's not enough info. Anyway, a sorority founded by several black women. 'Tis a black female sorority, but I think in comparison to the 'regular' sororities, there's many more non-black people in it compared to .. other ones. Anyway, I've ran into several AKAs on campus that are in grad schools and they really seem like good networking +  me in search of brown people.

If she was doing that then I think Jim needs to do whatever it takes for him to Legally be able to be called Esquire.  So we can have Jim Esquire and Idun AKA Dunie.

Ooh, neat, I've never been in a sorority before.  I don't drink, though, is that going to be a problem?  (I know at UBC sororities and fraternities seemed to be primarily about drinking).

Good news! I get to design my own job, as long as it includes a few things that need to be covered. Also good news! It will come with super awesome title and some sort of pay raise to equal it. Obviously, until this is written down and signed it has a chance to turn bad. But this conversation is consistent with previous conversations I've had, AND it's moving toward what I want from this place, AND everything is looking dandy.

Someone I know was questioning why women dress a certain way (provocatively last night), why we don't own up to how we dress and how affects everyone else  . .  she deleted the entire part (where her boyfriend and sister annoyingly chimed in) where I and another person mentioned part of the problem with this entire thing is that we need to stop judging people by the way they look. Fundamental problem right there. MLK was doing it right.

I was partly upset (which is why I'm still talking about it) that she decided to play the game of no-one-offends-my-boyfriend-and-I-don't-want-to-consider-that-he-has-already-insulted-several-of-my-friends. I feel pretty thankful that I haven''t been close with her in less than a decade or else I would have deleted her.

On an another note, I was up til 5AM and now just woke up --- writing a paper. Doin' grad school wrong.

I have heard it argued that in a professional setting like work, you should dress non-provocatively, because apparently males in much higher percentage than females tend to be visual thinkers, not forget a visual memory, and more likely to get distracted by distracting visuals.  (This last point is also apparently why you shouldn't use lots of sparkly jewlery and glitter in a business setting, at least if you have male coworkers whose productivity you don't want to mess up).

I'm guessing the context for this was not "in a professional work setting", however.

Yeah, she was talking about women outside of professional settings - in stores, at school. etc. I do feel she was being uppity in part - and anyway, presuming said hoeish looking figure to be unintelligent or having low self esteem just doesn't sit right with me.
