I somehow finished NaNoWriMo in just 9 out of the prescribed 30 days due to the metric ton of work that has been unloaded on me this semester. I just have to slug through the last two weeks and hopefully I'll be able to pass all my courses this term. x_x On Monday I have to demo a software that two of my friends and I developed for one of said friend's relative's company. A travel agency company. The software is a requirement for my software engineering course, which if I don't pass, means I am screwed for I am delayed one year from graduation. So it is pretty big shit. Tuesday is when my research paper on DRM is due, Thursday I have another research paper due, and Friday I have an x86 ASM project and ANOTHER research paper due.

So this week's pretty heavy on deadlines. Then finals.

Good luck with it all Trance =)

**

Went down to the village's local Christmas festivities this afternoon. It didn't amount to much but I had fun =) The real live reindeer were there, down from Aviemore/the Scottish highlands and it was set up with Santa and a sleigh. I spent a while watching/petting those with the people I was with (more watching than petting, they didn't seem as friendly as last year) and then we went to the hospice shop's cafe for lunch. I had a cheese/onion toastie and a can of Irn Bru. One of the others bought me a small gift of a red bottle vase filled with shiny red tinsle and gold Christmas flora as a decoration for my room. Actually she treated me to lunch as well since I'd treated her to coffee and a sweet treat when we did this last year. It was very nice of her =) Then after lunch everyone else I was with went home but I decided to stay and had a wander round the village, doing window shopping, admiring the Christmas decorations, gifts, etc. Didn't manage to buy any presents for anyone unfortunately, the selection in our small place isn't as good since the big card and gift shop closed down =/ Will probably have to wait for the Christmas trips to the bigger towns for those. Afterwards I stood a while and watched the performances on the small stage they had set up in the village square. Children from the local schools and the Children's Theatre. Singing Christmas songs~

I watched them for a while then popped into the baker's for a coffee and an iced biscuit to take away then went back outside and watched them some more. There was also some Scottish music, bagpipes and dancing. Also some dude from the X factor was supposed to be performing live too but I didn't stay that long. I did get to witness first hand the phenomena of a bunch of screaming fangirls getting hyped up for it though! By this time I'd been mainly out in the freezing cold for an hour or so and didn't really care enough about the event to turn into an ice pole while waiting for this dude who might or not show up so I headed home~

There was also face painting and small show rides there for the kids. Santa's grotto was also set up in the local library which is where Santa went after the reindeer left (I had a peek) ;)

There would have been more to do/take part in if I'd had a spare kid to take along but yeah somehow I still enjoyed myself/had fun really ^_^ I really felt quite Christmasy, being all wrapped up in my winter jacket, boots and gloves, seeing a bunch of other people all wrapped up too (though there was one guy in shorts! He was on his way back from football/soccer training~ - he was given a shout out from the man leading the entertainment on stage too) , having hot drinks and food while we all listened to Christmas songs and watched the kids singing their little hearts out~

(the country's been hit by Artic blasts this past week, some serious snow up north and it added to the experience here, in addition to the cold there were some wet flurries down my way~)

It is SO WEIRD to watch a movie or TV show starring someone you were friends with in high school. I can't tell if she's a bad actress or if I'm just so familiar with her that it looks fake because it's not who she is in person. She was a fantastic actress on the stage -- but then we're also talking in comparison to high school students.

If you're curious, it's Strictly Sexual the TV series on Hulu, and the person plays Georgia. Maybe a third-party opinion would help.

The point of public speaking is to speak publicly. Getting over shyness is a grueling, self-critical process that strengthens public speaking, strip teasing, changing clothes in the locker room, cooking someone a dinner, being honest, feeling comfortable using the restroom next to someone in an adjacent stall, being honest with your parents, sharing your feelings with significant people in your life, growing balls, cutting balls, attacking pubic hair with a razor blade, sharing your iTunes playlist with someone you know'll rain on your parade, any form of unrestrained dancing, wearing a bathing suit without a large t-shirt, sharing your ideas in class, seeking help, offering help, having sex, feeling comfortable watching sex, e-chatting with people you're unfamiliar with, purchasing an eccentric product in public . . . . .

I thought overcoming shyness was to take all that screaming you do at yourself and direct it to everybody else as well.

Both of ye are odd. Rob, however, is the most perplexing. I pour my heart out and he talks about surrogate video gaming lessons.

Rob was raised by his SNES.  It fills the same place in his heart where people used to have a kooky, somewhat irresponsible uncle who was basically the only thing that got them through family gatherings.  So it was by all means heartfelt.

My family made a custom beer pong table. I don't have trouble getting through gatherings. In fact, I recently inherited the mantle of kooky and irresponsible uncle.

Really, if we're looking to me for any kind of emotional response we are in some shit.

(also what i was saying is I was just speaking second-hand; the book in EarthBound is read off-camera by an NPC so I can't have learned anything from it, you dig? I like my commentaries to be metatextual).

I'm really warming up to Jamaica Plain.

I also believe I'm exhibiting mild forms of dementia, and anything as simple as a place offering soy substitutes for almost every lactose-based drink gives me an overwhelming sense of calm.
