Pool F

Match 41

Avengers, unite!  For this great challenge where our contestants must form their own league of justice to fight the evils of the world.

Peppy Hare comes into this with a few different limitations.  First off, he's sidekick material at best, and not even the really good kind of sidekick, but the comic relief sidekick.  Secondly, his home is sadly bereft of Superheros, which means that while it is in need of a good league, especially given how well Andross fits as a supervillain, and how often he attacks, there's little raw material to start with.

Of course, his opponent is the boy from Secret of Evermore, whose era spanning antics may, or may not, leaving him any kind of qualified position.

Match 42

Cat Bathing, the sport of the truly insane.  And this week, we've got a couple of people who likely apply taking up positions, where the goal will be to get the cat as clean as possible, with as little damage to the cat, and to themselves.

Is it possible to murder by Cat Bathing?  With Dahlia Hawthorn, that answer is almost certainly yes!  The only real question is, how clean will the cat get before the poor guy croaks, will the Prosecution complete the job in order to wash away evidence, and how badly will Phoenix get mauled when the cat is inevitably tossed at him?

On the opposite end of the spectrum, one has to ask, even with the wonder of Kaibatech on his arm, and the Heart of the Cards within him, can Yugi Moto successfully wash a cat using only Children's Card Games?  And if not, can he con Joey and Tristan into the sidekick's duty of taking this task for him?

Match 43

Sometimes, the answer to a challenge isn't brute force, but instead getting from point A to point B while attracting as little attention as possible.  A concept known as stealth, but which we here at the Tournament of Randomness prefer to call the Metal Gear Challenge.

Our first contestant is both an expert in lots of force, in that she was born with it, and an expert in not wanting to use it.  Of course, when your special power is to turn into a flying flaming pink version of yourself, well...  stealth may not be your strong point.  But Terra Branford is game to try it all the same.

Which is good because her foe is the crafty mechanoid from the 30th century, Bender, whose powers of bending metal bars gives him access to all kinds of places he shouldn't be able to reach, and whose proclivities to theft make him crafty and cunning in the art of stealth.  Of course, everyone around him is pretty idiotic, and trust him regardless of how much that trust is deserved, so perhaps he isn't so much cunning as knowning how to milk a good thing.

Match 44

The name of the game is simple, but there's two ways to win.  The goal, to be the greatest thief.  But, whether that's through getting the most stuff, or by getting the best stuff, is up to the individual contestants.

As a drifter, Clive Winchester is used to having to get random artifacts from dangerous places.  And this is a task at which he is well trained, and very experienced.  Of course, he's also not usually denying rightful ownership as part of the deal, as very few of these missions involve outright theft.

As for his opponent, Queen Festering Pulsating Bloated Slug for a Butt, she's an Earthworm Jim villain, and one of the less competant ones at that.  Which means not all that great at nabbing stuff, but she'll be going at it with a zeal that Clive just can't match.

Match 45

The year is 1917, and all across the Western Front only one name is known across the Allied lines.  The infamous Red Baron, whose skill with a tri-plane is making the skies unsafe for our boys overseas.  His reputation and kill count so fierce, that now only two challengers remain to try and clear the skies of this German menace.

He's more used to the high seas than the untamed skies, but if there's ever a man for this job, it's the Dread Pirate Roberts.  He's outwitted a Sicillian, survived the Fire Swamp, and even come back from Death itself.  But will all of that be enough to allow him to defeat the nefarious Red Baron, even if his true love, Buttercup, somehow enters the picture?

His name, Bob.
His format, Guardian.
To mend, and defend.
To defend his newfound friends.
And if there's anyone to do the defending, this sprite is it.  Fresh from the Mainframe, Bob's got his state of the art Keytool, Glitch at his side, and the experience and cunning to win in all the games, almost certainly including WWI aerial combat.  After all, what can the Red Baron do that the dastardly User hasn't?

Match 46

So, I hear you're starting a Pokemon Journey!
Welcome to the Johto Region, where we use our pokemon friends as workers, lab rats, and of course, pit fighters.  I'd like to welcome the two of you to the Pokeleague, where you can start your trip to capture as many of these fantastic creatures as you can, in a quest to defeat all eight gyms before becomming the Pokemon Champion!

Our first challenger is the noted adventurer, Korgan Bloodaxe, whose travels along the Sword Coast and the province of Ahm makes him perfectly suited for this trip.  What he may be less good at is not doing the fighting himself, and possibly on mastering the complex beast that is pokemon battling.

Hey, Whatchu talkin' about, Oak!  You saying that Gary Coleman is gonna be a Pokemon Champion?  Good thing since the child star hasn't been up to too much since he got canned, and wandering the wilds of Johto would explain a lot.

Match 47

Heretics.  What are they good for?  Kindling, apparently.  There will be a set pool of heretics for both sides to make use of, and the winner will be the one who sets fire to the most of them.  And this time, both of our competitors will be very happy to bring down the flames.

Our first competitor knows that even as it burns, she'll be so happy with the heretics as they help her with her science.  The scientific AI, GLaDOS will no doubt have a bevy of ways to light the unbelievers up, all of them highly informative.  Of course, for her the real issue will be less completing this challenge, and more making sure the Beta's done on time.

But while she'll be working hard, her opponent, Sarah Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades, will be acting in the name of fun.  After all, when you lead the villainous Zerg, what isn't to like about setting things on fire?

Match 48

And so we move from the sport of popes to the sport of kings, chess.  That careful approximation of war, wherein each side moves one piece at a time until a king is captured.  Unfortunatly, we've got probably the worst two people to be playing chess here, with one of them not all that bright, and the other lacking any kind of patience for it.

We'll start with the dim one, notably, Bowser, King of all Koopas.  You'd think that being a king might give him some kind of advantage, except that none of his schemes have ever really hinged on his intelligence.

Of course, it helps when his foe is crazy.  And patience is one of the many things Kefka Palazzo is known to completely and utterly lack.  Of course, which failing will prove to be the greater one, we'll just have to wait and see.

45. Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts v Bob, Guardian - Shooting Down the Red Baron
46. Korgan Bloodaxe, BG2 v Gary Coleman - Complete a Pokemon Journeys- Coleman would be perfect for this, if he was alive.
48. Bowser v Kefka Palazzo - Chess- Bowser knows Haiku. Bowser has a refined palette. Kefka is a screaming clown who probably can't even spell chess.

41. Peppy Hare v Boy, SoE - Forming a Superhero League
The Boy, if nothing else, has genre savvy and knows a scientist.  Alchemy helps a bit, too.

42. Dahlia Hawthorn v Yugi Moto - Cat Bathing
Abstain.

43. Terra Branford v Bender Bending Rodriguez - Stealth Match (aka The Metal Gear Challenge)
Learns Vanish from an esper and most likely wouldn't be distracted at the first sign of booze.

44. Clive Winchester v Queen Slug for a Butt - Thief Off
Abstain

45. Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts v Bob, Guardian - Shooting Down the Red Baron
Awaiting arguments.

46. Korgan Bloodaxe, BG2 v Gary Coleman - Complete a Pokemon Journey
Zombie Gary Coleman would *still* be better at this than a screaming bloodthirsty idiot.

47. GLaDOS v Sarah Kerrigan - Burning Heretics
Ooh, good match, awaiting arguments.

48. Bowser v Kefka Palazzo - Chess
I'm sorry, but the Light of Judgment is not a legal move in chess.

41. Peppy Hare v Boy, SoE - Forming a Superhero League
42. Dahlia Hawthorn v Yugi Moto - Cat Bathing- Sets his trap card, thereby preventing himself from taking damage during the process.  The same can't be said of the poor sap Dahlia gets to do this.
43. Terra Branford v Bender Bending Rodriguez - Stealth Match (aka The Metal Gear Challenge)
44. Clive Winchester v Queen Slug for a Butt - Thief Off
45. Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts v Bob, Guardian - Shooting Down the Red Baron- Westley could likely fashion a means to shoot down the Baron without aid of a plane (negating his disadvantage of not knowing what one is), but it's just going to take longer than Bob getting in a plane and shooting the Baron down.  Shit, he's probably BEEN the Red Baron before, he knows the sort of skills he's up against.
46. Korgan Bloodaxe, BG2 v Gary Coleman - Complete a Pokemon Journey
47. GLaDOS v Sarah Kerrigan - Burning Heretics- Being immobile has its disadvantages.
48. Bowser v Kefka Palazzo - Chess- Sorry, this is exactly the sort of thing Bowser will fail hilariously at.  He'll find a way.

44. Clive Winchester v Queen Slug for a Butt - Thief Off
47. GLaDOS v Sarah Kerrigan - Burning Heretics: GLaDOS manages to derive much amusement from the burning of her heretics by making them run through an obstacle course, all the while forcing them to burn their own precious companion(cube)s, and then morally crushing them by denying them their promised cake as they slowly find themselves lowered into an inferno.  Kerrigan is the leader of an army of alien bug things which I'm pretty sure don't like fire enough to try and use it to dispose of their heretics.
48. Bowser v Kefka Palazzo - Chess

41. Peppy Hare v Boy, SoE - Forming a Superhero League
Has a Dog, that's like half of the League right there.

42. Dahlia Hawthorn v Yugi Moto - Cat Bathing
Meaner than the cat. Cat is cowed into submission.

43. Terra Branford v Bender Bending Rodriguez - Stealth Match (aka The Metal Gear Challenge)
Yeah, Vanish is a pretty good argument.

44. Clive Winchester v Queen Slug for a Butt - Thief Off
I can't conceive of anything that the Queen could steal that Clive wouldn't be better at.

47. GLaDOS v Sarah Kerrigan - Burning Heretics
Hmm... Kerrigan -does- have mobility on her side, but there's a certain amount of -style- in managing to kill all your heretics by luring them in with irresistable cake.

48. Bowser v Kefka Palazzo - Chess
I don't know what you're talking about, the Light of Judgment is a perfectly legal move. You clearly haven't been playing Chess long.

41. Peppy Hare v Boy, SoE - Peppy is at least taken seriously by Fox, so he tells Fox, and the league is formed.
42. Dahlia Hawthorn v Yugi Moto - Only Yugi means he feels too bad for the cat to do a good job/do it quickly. Meanwhile, cat scratches Dahlia, she loses the act, cat is cowed into behaving for a bath.
43. Terra Branford v Bender Bending Rodriguez - Bender has mastered Time Travel. He finishes as soon as it starts.
44. Clive Winchester v Queen Slug for a Butt
45. Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts v Bob, Guardian - Bob is the epitome of doing random things and exceeding at them. Besides that, Bob has also done things such as come back from the dead, so that doesn't impress him much.
47. GLaDOS v Sarah Kerrigan - Not much competition here.
48. Bowser v Kefka Palazzo - Kefka is clearly capable of making real moves, and probably knows how to take Bowser (who is also not big on patience) down in a few moves.

41. Peppy Hare v Boy, SoE - Forming a Superhero League
Boy is a bit bland but can probably handle this.  Peppy gets laughed out of the superheros joint.
42. Dahlia Hawthorn v Yugi Moto - Cat Bathing
If she can charm butterflies, she can charm cats.  (Or, failing that, even is a poor shmuck gets cat-shredded trying to do the bathing, that's not her problem!)
43. Terra Branford v Bender Bending Rodriguez - Stealth Match (aka The Metal Gear Challenge)
Sure, Vanish.  For all that this doesn't work very well in avoiding enemy encounters in-game.
44. Clive Winchester v Queen Slug for a Butt - Thief Off
46. Korgan Bloodaxe, BG2 v Gary Coleman - Complete a Pokemon Journey
Coleman in the form he's famous for, of course, and 10-year olds are the bestest at this for some reason.
47. GLaDOS v Sarah Kerrigan - Burning Heretics
Psionic Storm isn't really fire, and Kerrigan doesn't exactly have any dragons among her Zerg minions.  That said, Kerrigan can surely mind control a bunch of firebats and hellions to go do her dirty work for her.  That said, it wouldn't matter if who could burn heretics better, for which the answer is obviously (and confirmed in-game) GlaDOS.  That said, judging from the description, it's who can burn (N/2) + 1 heretics faster, where N is the pool of heretics.  Kerrigan takes awhile to get going - faked distress signals, etc. to bring in her soon-to-be-infested friends - but burns pretty quickly after that.  GlaDOS can only send so many people through the flaming obstacle course of doom at a time, though, can't have too many heretics in the same room together sharing ideas.  So in short, if the pool of heretics is small, GlaDOS wins; if it's big, Kerrigan wins.  As is, tiebreaking for "kills better" anyway.
48. Bowser v Kefka Palazzo - Chess
Interesting match.  For all his bravado in stealing princesses, Bowser is ultimately a very defensive player when the chips are down - he'll castle up and stick King (Koopa) behind elaborate defenses that would require precision movement and jumping to penetrate.  Kefka, meanwhile, would ignore Leo's advice and throw away his pawns in a frontal assault - only really moving them at all because that's what's expected of him - before eventually micro-managing the Queen and moving it exclusively.  As it happens, one micro'd piece is exactly Bowser's weakness, but that's not to say Bowser loses - if the game goes too long Kefka will get bored and either start making illegal moves like "my Queen blows up everything!" or tossing his own King off the side of the chess board to tumble to its doom on the floor.  Which would be resigning.  So...  does the game go long enough?  Good question, but modern Bowser seems to have severely clamped down on unauthorized warp zones and whistles, so thinking he can stall this out long enough for Kefka to go erratic.  But it's close!

42. Dahlia Hawthorn v Yugi Moto - Cat Bathing - This is normal Yugi.  A cat faced with the prospect of bathing...is a very, very terrifying beast indeed.
43. Terra Branford v Bender Bending Rodriguez - Stealth Match (aka The Metal Gear Challenge) - This...is more about who fails less.  And while a glowing pink, uh...whatever the hell Terra turns into is pretty noticeable, Bender's enough of a total jackass that he wouldn't be able to resist taunting those he's supposed to avoid.  ...point to Terra.
44. Clive Winchester v Queen Slug for a Butt - Thief Off - Regardless of what Clive would have trouble with, moral-wise, Slug for a Butt would still be single-minded about her attempts to steal Earthworm Jim's suit back, and she really hasn't succeeded at that yet.
45. Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts v Bob, Guardian - Shooting Down the Red Baron - Bob.
46. Korgan Bloodaxe, BG2 v Gary Coleman - Complete a Pokemon Journey - Korgan, easily.  He just needs to learn the loophole about pokemon fighting known as the "Mr. Fish" clause.
47. GLaDOS v Sarah Kerrigan - Burning Heretics - Sorry, GLaDOS.  While you are charming, immobility is a bit of a problem.
48. Bowser v Kefka Palazzo - Chess - This...is a tough one to call for me.  Bowser isn't exactly smart, and has a very bad temper to boot, while Kefka is Kefka.  Needless to say, it's very possible that it might come down to a direct fight started by either barring all other cases of either ragequitting or being randomly insane.  ...of which, well, let the ranks speak for themselves.  Bowser really needs to stop drawing matches where his temper and bullheadedness hurts him, I've noticed.
<+Nama-EmblemOfFire> ...Have the GhebFE guy and the ostian princess guy collaborate.
 <@Elecman> Seems reasonable.
