DLC6: Games and Activities!
« on: March 05, 2011, 08:04:10 PM »
This is just throwing out some ideas for things that will be nearby/available as activities, as well as coordinating games/consoles/etc that will be coming in for the con.

Since most of the con will be taking place at my apartment, we'll have my gaming setup (42" LCD HDTV w/PS3, Wii, PS2 hooked up currently) for console games; we may need an Xbox as well. I also have a second smallish HDTV (24") that I use as a secondary monitor; this can be hooked up to a second console or consoles if we want a second gaming station.

For games of the group variety:

PS3:

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (Hal)

Wii:

Super Smash Bros Melee (Hal)
Super Smash Bros Brawl (Hal)
Mario Kart: Double Dash (Hal)
Mario Kart: Wii (Hal)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Hal)
Other fighting games (Cap'n)

360 (Cap'n)
Fighting games for 360 (Cap'n)

Board/card games:

Arkham Horror (includes Dunwich, Kingsport, and Innsmouth expansions)  (Hal)
Betrayal at House on the Hill (Hal)
Gloom (Hal)
Settlers of Catan (Yakumo)
Apples to Apples (Cap'n)

For local activities:

Schlitterbahn (waterpark, for early arrivals)
Gamefellas (local used game store)
Alamo Drafthouse (bistro+movie theater, dunno if there will be any movies worth seeing at DLC6 time though)
Rudy's (technically not an attraction, but everyone in the world seems to want to go so)
Arcade UFO

It'd be nice to get an idea of what - particularly in the way of local activities not at the apartment - people are interested in, since we can possibly get some early planning in for how many cars will be needed for trips and when we can fit stuff in. Also, if you have games to bring, post them and we can get a list of what'll be here and what folks are interested in.

I can bring Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the Wii, if you want.  Granted, I get the feeling the care factor will be low due to MvC3 overshadowing it but hey, couldn't hurt to bring an entry from the series that a shows a semblance of sanity <_<?

Noting publically that bowling at DLC6 will be THE SIMPSONS CUP! Meaning there will be Simpsons related prizes for the top 3 overall scores as well as one for the top single game score. Simpsons fans, start practicing. At least your chants. Rhyming Homer with homer doesn't count.

I have the base set for Catan but not any of the expansions if people want me to bring that.  I also have a board game that's basically a D&D dungeon crawl for small group play, the Castle Ravenloft board game.

I'll be bringing an Xbox as well as various fighting games for that and Wii.

Boardgame-wise, I don't have much to add that people haven't mentioned already.  I have Apples to Apples of course, and a decent trivia game for teams that I'll bring.

Put you down for A2A, since I don't have it and it'll likely be easier for you to fit it in your car than for someone else to fit it in their luggage.

Care to note which games you have/intend on bringing for both?  It'd help in figuring who should bring what.

Since I'm driving, will probably bring everything I have.  But notably:

For Wii, I'll bring Tatsunoko, Samurai Shodown Collection.

For Xbox, Mahvel, SSF4.

Will probably get King of Fighters Collection for Wii also, but haven't bought that yet.

Right, so what I'm reading is I should bring SC4 for 360, got it

(now if only I could find a way to bring my custom outfits without bringing my whole freaking Hard Drive there...)

I will be bringing Bang!, so we can engage in some nice, wholesome banging during the con.

Also, anyone up for playing the Stephen King drinking game?  Maybe on something other than IT...Rose Red, maybe?  That's one I haven't played it to before.

If we're going to riff on bad Steven King minserieses, it should be the longest one to maximize fatalities.  Therefore, Rob Lowe and Molly Ringwald hype are go as the DL takes on The Stand.

I'm bringing my consoles. Modded Wii, modded PS2, and a 360 with pretty much every next gen fighting game and then some, excluding Soul Calibur 4. Someone else will have to bring that.

I don't think we'll need a second Wii. Mine is modded, so if you have games on a hard drive, just bring the drive and any extra controllers you need. PS2 and 360 would be useful though (my PS2 is not modded, so.)

My TV is small enough to travel with as well, if that becomes an issue.

I have the big 42" in the living room for a primary gaming station and a 24" in the computer room that we can hook up as a secondary station. If past DLcon activities hold I don't -think- we'll need more than two gaming setups but I'll leave that decision to you guys.

Well if Xer brings his Xbox, we can move through the fighting tournament quicker by having two matches at once.

The only reason I'd see to bring an extra TV is if someone wants to hook up a gaming setup at the hotel.
