Proving Grounds Heavy 4- FF6, 7S, and SN

Peppita: 24-20
Rita: 17-19
Ryu: 21-26

Strago- The best of the FF blue mages. He's got status, healing, and good damage- enough to belong in Heavy.
Esuna- Very good Red Mage build. Plenty of healing, status, damage, buffing, but has the usual appalling 7th saga mage durability woes.
Gruntzford- It's Dekar on crack,  pretty much.

Strago Magus (FF6) vs Chie Satonaka (Pers4)- Magic evasion staves off Bad Breath for a turn, which is all Chie needs. This is a remix of Guy/Strago, come to think of it.
Strago vs Justin (G1)
Strago vs Sephiran (FE10)- OHKO with Grand Train.
Strago vs Keith Valentine (SH1)- Goes first, hits Deathblade Jiru.
Strago vs Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4)- Status.
Strago vs Sync (TotA)- You know, I was going to work on some strategy where Strago ripplers away overlimit and buffs/heals his way past Sync's damage. But you know what? Even if rippler works on overlimit, I don't think Strago has a prayer of keeping up with Sync's normal unlockable combos, especially with White Wind being gimped at low HP.  He'd win this if X meteo was actually useful!
Strago vs Kaus Debonair (OB)- Think his evasion pushes this to turn two.
Strago vs Roufas (SaGa)- Bad Breath.
Strago vs Serge (CC)- OHKO.
Strago vs Tidus (FFX)- Bad breath.

Esuna (7S) vs Chie Satonaka  (Pers4)- Void: ice. Esuna: *wrists*
Esuna vs Justin (G1)- Esuna has to open the fight with Defense 1 or she gets OHKOed from HE cut. Justin opts for the moonlight shield and ID Axe. He probably needs three-four turns, but he likely gets that.
Esuna vs Sephiran (FE10)- Esuna is walled hard by Seph's defenses.
Esuna vs Keith Valentine (SH1)- DBJ.
Esuna vs Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4)- Vacuum.
Esuna vs Sync (TotA)- OHKOs right though defense 1.
Esuna vs Kaus Debonair (OB)- OHKO.
Esuna vs Roufas (SaGa)- Tenatively leaning towards Awakening keeping him alive long enough.
Esuna vs Serge (CC)- Definitely a OHKO.
Esuna vs Tidus (FFX)- I think Vacuum is turn one against Tidus.

Gruntzford (SN) vs Chie Satonaka (Pers4)- Chie's best off using bufala!! no
Gruntzford vs Justin (G1)- ID. Justin's durable enough to survive one turn.
Gruntzford vs Sephiran (FE10)- Yikes. He has issues making damage stick here (.........).
Gruntzford vs Keith Valentine (SH1)
Gruntzford vs Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4)- Way to get owned, Kresnik.
Gruntzford vs Sync (TotA)- Uses Hot Rage, obliterates Sync's bitch ass.
Gruntzford vs Kaus Debonair (OB)- Hell if I know. Debonair's got a fuckton of evasion and a huge speed lead, but Gruntzford does have that brutal damage+healing. EDIT: Melee counters tip it.
Gruntzford vs Roufas (SaGa)- Skips awakening, spams status till it hits. Roufas is extremely evasive when he's using attacks.
Gruntzford vs Serge (CC)- *squish*
Gruntford vs Tidus (FFX)- Evade and counter is enough, offhand.

Strago: 5-5
Gruntzford: 4-5
Esuna: 2-8

Strago vs Justin (G1): Bad Breath.
Strago vs Sephiran (FE10): Matches like this are why Sephiran isn't godlike despite okay durability, good damage, counters, and on-crack regen. He doesn't double with the long range moves, so he can only 2HKO Strago then get overkilled by ITD damage in return. Yay for being like 20% PCHP when defences aren't a factor.
Strago vs Keith Valentine (SH1): Sure, I'll buy Keith being faster.
Strago vs Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4): Condemned, stall.
Strago vs Sync (TotA): Shouldn't have much trouble overwhelming. A long fight will provoke doubleturns, to boot.
Strago vs Roufas (SaGa): Assuming DeadEnd is turn 2? (Actually, I forget if Roufas even had that.)
Strago vs Serge (CC): Not sure I see Serge one-shotting here to begin with. Throw in Strago's modest evasion and he should take this.
Strago vs Tidus (FFX): Tidus, on the other hand, has accuracy.

Strago 5-3

Gruntzford (SN) vs Chie Satonaka (Pers4)
Gruntzford vs Justin (G1)- Yep, the ID whole is one reason that I could see the SN cast getting lower.
Gruntzford vs Keith Valentine (SH1)- ID mk 2
Gruntzford vs Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4)
Gruntzford vs Sync (TotA)- Abstain as I don't know how much to respect Absolute. Match basically comes down to just that I think.
Gruntzford vs Kaus Debonair (OB)- Speed difference is semi tempered by buffs+counters. Attack buff also mean that Grunz kills in one hit likely (albeit barely)
Gruntzford vs Roufas (SaGa)- Roufas has a single status, so Grunzford can block that at least. Even with Awakening, Roufas 4HKOs Grunzford, so I just don't think he's going to be avoiding seeing Grunzford's 5th turn- or 4th in Grunzford counters twice (Especially since's given up the first turn, One Shot of healing pushes Roufas back two turns)
Gruntzford vs Serge (CC)
Gruntzford vs Tidus (FFX)- Does Tidus evade counters? That's might much the key here. If yes, he speed games away before Grunz can get his limit. If not, speed game blows up in his face

Grunzford 5-2
...into the nightfall.

He can just use cheer up until Blitz Ace to beat Gruntzford in that case.

I was assuming Roufas had ID. Kneejerking he'd get three shots at it on Gruntzford, which would be enough.

Strago vs Justin (G1) - Bait.
Strago vs Kaus Debonair (OB) - Bait.
Strago vs Roufas (SaGa) - Bait.
Strago vs Serge (CC) - Serge doesn't come that close to OHKOing average to manage it here, so bait.

Esuna vs Justin (G1) - I'll buy it.
Esuna vs Kaus Debonair (OB) - Esuna PDur is probably hideous enough to get oneshotted here, yeah, and Debonair is going first.
Esuna vs Roufas (SaGa) - I'll buy it.
Esuna vs Serge (CC) - Serge isn't going first here, though.  He does have a functional heallock, though.

Roufas isn't listed with Dead End in NEB's topic, so I'm assuming he may not have the talent for learning it .

I don't even think you can cheer up enough to make Blitz Ace an OHKO against Grunzford, but Grunz would hit his AoE limit (so no evasion bonus) way earlier.

This is correct, so make of that what you will.

Strago vs Keith Valentine (SH1) - Faster spoiling~
Strago vs Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4) - Bad Breath I guess
Strago vs Sync (TotA) - For all that Rippler->Overlimit is hilarious.
Strago vs Roufas (SaGa) - Bad Breath~
Strago vs Serge (CC) - Bad Breath~

Tidus has no reason to do anything but spam cheer up after applying haste and slow. Grunzford can't hurt him otherwise outside of his limit (Elf, can delay buster be countered?)

Strago Magus (FF6) vs Chie Satonaka (Pers4): I'm going to break it up into "Magic evade" and "Status resistance/reduction". FF6 uses one stat for both, while P4 breaks them up. I'm inclined to follow with "Since Chie isn't that good at reducing status in-game she isn't that good at reducing it in the DL". I'm not sure about this.
Strago vs Justin (G1): If no comment, Bad Breath
Strago vs Sephiran (FE10): ITD damage vs. FE boss.
Strago vs Keith Valentine (SH1): Goes first, ID.
Strago vs Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4)
Strago vs Sync (TotA): Physical damage.
Strago vs Kaus Debonair (OB)
Strago vs Roufas (SaGa)
Strago vs Serge (CC): Overkill.
Strago vs Tidus (FFX): I think Tidus can drown Strago with  SS Initiative -> slow -> Quick Hits? Not sure.

Gruntzford (SN) vs Chie Satonaka (Pers4): Just better at this.
Gruntzford vs Justin (G1): And again.
Gruntzford vs Sephiran (FE10): I forgot about the typing thing. Though honestly keeping track of all that makes my head spin.
Gruntzford vs Keith Valentine (SH1)
Gruntzford vs Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4)
Gruntzford vs Sync (TotA)
Gruntzford vs Kaus Debonair (OB)
Gruntzford vs Roufas (SaGa)
Gruntzford vs Serge (CC)
Gruntzford vs Tidus (FFX): Right. Grunzford had his own AoE Limit.

That'd depend on the counter in question! On the whole, though, I'd see FFX skills triggering almost any counters that normal physicals do, since this tends to be true in-game ("skills" in FFX referring essentially to normal physicals with extra added properties, such as Delay Buster, Quick Hit, breaks, Sleep Buster, Mug, etc.).
