Basically, all tokens do the same thing.  They add one to the number of tokens you need to use to capture it.

So if you want to capture 4, you need two tokens to start, plus one for the troll token, plus one for the mountain, plus one for the Troll Lair = 5.

To capture 43, you would need two to start, plus two for the pygmies, plus one for the encampment = 5.

Take Alchemist Halflings (I assume this is what is meant by Hobbits) , get 10 tokens.

Conquer 11, 16, 6, 15, 22 with 2 tokens each.  Holes in the Ground are on 11 and 16.  Redeploy taking 11 and 16 down to 1 halfling each, for obvious reasons, and boost 6 and 15 to three halflings each.

Used the catapult shot to take out 40 (hence why I can conquer a mountain region with only 2.)

Oh man, did I miss that earlier?

Near as I have been able to discern, the Catapult is placed once, but its bonus applies to ANY number of regions that fit the criteria. So it can be used to reduce multiple regions to -1.
