There's a valid question of how much worth channel ownership is.
I'm pretty sure if the group at large strongly disagreed with an owner's decisions or the owner did something ridiculous, that the DL would either move to another server or just open another marginally different name room on the same server.
To put it another way, we probably put more overall trust in the Lunarnet staff than we do a chat owner. At most, a chat owner can cause inconvenience. It's pretty minor. (Well, past being an op anyways. And I suppose you could say they have control over who becomes ops, except I think that's being discussed in general so whatever.)
Not that I'm arguing if people want to microanalyze who should be chat owner, mind you. (One could argue that decentralizing power is a valid move as well.)
