I'm trying to get together planned for December. Tenative idea is for the last weekend before christmas, which is the 20-23rd (Sunday) in DC. Thoughts?

Someone who sees Xer on IRC pass this onto him? Thanks.

That weekend is a no go for me, as far as I can tell. Family is planning a vacation then, and even if I don't go on said vacation, complications would arise elsewhere, in terms of transportation and what not.

Probably not a good weekend for me - usually have family stuff that close to Christmas, but it's not set in stone yet. If I don't, I'll try to make it.

Yeah, that's generally a fairly shitastic weekend overall. I could probably do it, this far in advance, but...not good overall, especially if there's snow on my end.

The dates given are a definite no go. If it's sometime after (like after the 28th as Djinn said)...I'm still only a maybe. Taking a week off from work, it'd be hard to request off time right after it without clever manipulation.

I'd be all for being able to make it to this minimeet. But I kinda need to ask Djinn one thing: how long is the trip from Florida to DC? While my trip begins on the 28th, I'm not arriving in Florida until 2:30PM in the 29th at the earliest. Will it be viable to make two straight itineraries with this in mind? Maybe 29-31 might be simpler, but Mondays, even New Year's Eve Mondays, can be a bitch.

EDIT: An alternative, if you're not too attached to the -necessity- of making a minimeet before the year turns its tail, would be January 4th-6th.

January 4th to 6th would be preferable because the 28th is literally the day after I return from another trip, and well, you can see how that goes.

Again, though, I can't make any promises about going one way or another; the fact that I am going away from the 21st to 28th makes things a bit murky. Main thing about 4th to 6th is it gives me a week to recover + I can probably manipulate a request off by saying a temporary availability change for that week.

Meeple told me to suggest Boston. I'd be for it, but I have really limited space and would need to run it passed roommates. That said, Boston hotels/rent is hideously expensive, and I honestly prefer spending time with people when less money is involved.

After mulling over it a couple days, I will suggest a different host location. I have no clue regarding anyone's expectations, tourist inclinations, etc., and realistically do not have the free time to manage any itinerary arrangements.
