Steam sale- november
« on: November 21, 2012, 10:38:28 PM »
Is anyone buying anything from this? IT's going from November 21st till the 27th.

I picked up Orcs Must Die 2 DLC. OMD2 is on sale, pick it up! What other games are good that are on sale? The only other one I can recommend is Defense Grid (Which is great), but yeah.

Today, KotOR2 is 75% off, X-COM is 33% off, Walking Dead is half price, Torchlight 2 is 25% off, Witcher 2 is 60% off, Fallout New Vegas with all DLC is 40% off, Dragon Age 1 is 50%, Legend of Grimrock at 50%, World of Goo is 75% and of course Basition is 50% off.  These are all good things.

Also worth considering, To the Moon is a point and click adventure game that gets a little bit of love at 50% off, E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy is supposed to be pretty decent (75% off), Hotline Miami I have heard good things about (25%).

Not on special but very good is FTL at $10.

Deadlight gets a bit of talking up at 25% off if you aren't sick of zombies/shooters yet.

Cave Story at 75% off will not hurt your wallet and is a Good Thing tm.

Payday: The Heist if there is 4 of you that want more Left 4 Dead style action and are sick of zombies is worth checking out.

Finally, I saw Endless Space is on there for like 50% off and Rat had been playing it a lot so I figured I should find out what it is; and hey there is a Rob review on the page which says

Been playing since the Alpha. My first comment was "This is an Alpha? Most games function this well at release." If you love 4x and spaceships and the possibility of a DS9 scenario where a giant evil empire is waiting for you on the other side of a wormhole, you'll dig Endless Space.

Soooooo yeah that is a decent enough recommendation for me to want to spread public praise.

If you like parkour and stabbing dudes in the face and for some reason haven't tried them yet Assassin's Creed 2 is very cheap.

Suffice to say, this is another sale that I have a lot of the stuff already, so eh.

There is a bunch of CoD games, Darksiders, Dead Island and Sonic Adventure 2 if you want  things of questionable taste.

TL2 is just on regular sale as opposed to daily deal, so I am holding out for it to go 50% off at some point. Probably won't but I have enough other stuff to play anyway.

World of Goo is great if you haven't grabbed it in any of the Humble Bundles. Limbo is pretty neat for what it is, and well worth a couple of bucks if you like that sort of kinda-retro platformer.

Picked up XCom (33% is likely as good as it gets unless the game tanks or I wait 6 months) and the really expensive Deus Ex: Human Revolution DLC while it's merely expensive (15->8 bucks).  And sure KOTOR2 too despite technically owning it already, it was 2.50.

My counter-alien soldiers better have anime hair and let me arrange them in relationships with each other so I can write bad fanfic.

Quantum Conundrum is 9 bucks & The Witcher 2 is 12 bucks.  I think both will drop more with patience, I think I'm willing to pay 5 bucks each for those or so.  Dishonored is potentially p. cool too but XCom will be my newish and actually costs more than 10 dollars Steam game, I'll wait the year or so for the price to drop to a more reasonable level for Dishonored.

For those who don't have it yet, Civ5 Gods & Kings is half price, which is unusual (they rarely have notably dropped the price on it).

In more puzzling news..  what the HELL is Age of Empires 3 Complete doing on the Steam top sellers list at #3.  The game was released in 2005 and has not aged particularly well; I got it for ONE DOLLAR - one, uno - off Microsoft's Steam ripoff service 2 years ago, and it *pales* in comparison to StarCraft II.  Not really surprising as they're separated by 5 years.  So what is a dated RTS doing selling so well for 10 bucks?!

Since at least 3 separate DLers randomly have been going through Deus Ex: Human Revolution lately, it's on sale for 5 bucks at the moment.  Also the DLC Missing Link I acted too soon on - it's now 4 dollars.  (Ah, DLC pricing.  Now that I know I like the game, they can hike the price up for far less content, and it's still a good trade.)

Borderlands 2 is also half price if Diablo-with-guns is your thing.  (Actually got to play a bit of the XBox 360 version with my cousin.  Decent for what it is, certainly, just not going to play it on my own...)

I bought Skyrim.  Figured $30 was as good as I was gonna get for a while yet, and the mod community has finally reached a point where I can play as Thor, who fights dragons that look like Randy Savage and lives in an airship, like I want to. Bought the girlfriend-ish lady The Walking Dead.  It's really more of an interactive movie than a normal game, but the finale was crazy impactful.  I was unable to feel anything for three days because the game had deafened me to feelings.

Civ5 GotY is like 12 bucks, buy it if you don't already have it.

Arkham City is also in that price range.  It is a very good impression of what it is like to be Batman.  They couldn't do this with Iron Man because there would be too much fucking and you'd kill all your antagonists and they'd get yelled at by the media for the level where you fly the Iron Man drunk.

Borderlands 2 is also half price if Diablo-with-guns is your thing.  (Actually got to play a bit of the XBox 360 version with my cousin.  Decent for what it is, certainly, just not going to play it on my own...)

I find that Borderlands is just kind of pretty okay, unless you are playing in-person multiplayer, in which case it fucking owns so hard.

Called it!

Also Orcs Must Die 2 for 75% off. In Super's absence, allow me to badger you all into buying an excellent game.

Edit: Not officially part of the Steam sale, but Amazon is selling Steam codes for XCOM for $25.

I second the OMD2 badgering, it's amazing.
