Haha. That honestly sounds about right. I think we are trained to prioritize our own feelings.

Sounds like you people should have guns.  People will listen to anything you have to say if you say it pointing a gun at them.

Should I include guns in my poetry about science as well? Laser guns maybe?

Wouldn't water guns be more appropriate?

I don't care what you have in it, just make sure it looks like a real gun.  That's the lesson you all should have learned from the Brendan Frasier/Steve Buscemi/Adam Sandler vehicle Airheads, other than the lesson that there was once a time where Brendan Frasier was considered a bigger draw than Adam Sandler and thus got higher billing.

Not sure what is worse.  Realising that your habits aren't so weird after all and someone normalising them, that you are not even nearly remotely as unique as you would hope/expect or that there is other people just as fucking crazy in the exact same ways you are in the world.

You mean it's not uncommon for people to fidget with their mouse while reading things, and also not uncommon for people to favor symmetrical shapes over asymmetrical shapes?

The hell you say.

I honestly just kind of assumed alot of folks do this, or Snow's variant of it. Or at least anyone prone to fidgeting with stuff. (Spoilars: I do this too.)

PG&E (gas & electric) continues to be an amusing and infuriating piece of work.

Andrew and I have mentioned a few times that PG&E regularly doesn't give a fuck when it comes to billing. They'll randomly drop our automatic billing without telling us, then happily charge us monthly fees for, oh, 4 months with nary a notification letter. They've done this a few times to us, so we try to track it.

We moved in June, so we swapped our account from the apartment in Emeryville to our new one in Sunnyvale.

Or so we thought.

Today we got a letter in the mail that said, "Your apartment is currently scheduled to shut off because it has no services." So we go "wut" and check our online account.

Not only does our automatic billing not work, it turns out we switched our ACCOUNT to this address but not the SERVICES! Who knew? :D

So calling the office to get the services set up takes 10 minutes of a combination of holds and transfers. Then we ask how much we owe since, you know, June. Oh, they don't handle that, we have to call PG&E Billing! Which is, for some reason, an entirely separate department which requires yet another phone transfer.

PG&E being a publicly subsidized utility is clearly only working in their favor, since apparently they don't need to take money from the people using their services.

What the fuck, PG&E. What. the. fuck.

EDIT: This, by the way, marks month 6 of "here's a random charge out of nowhere that's going to cost you at least $400." I don't know why this has been happening, but it's been true since May. Replacing the brake pads, replacing the tires, speeding ticket, PG&E back-charges, random medical bills from the previous year... ugh. I wish I would stop feeling poor while making as much money as I am.

Had to get our cat put down today. 15 years old and diabetic, but still, kinda hurts.

Of course, this was Kiernan's cat. And he was off at a band event all day today. And trying to wait until tomorrow would have left Sekhmet in pretty terrible pain for an extra day, which was something we really did not want.

Good news is, we can donate all of the excess pet supplies, the special food, his carrier and litterbox and all that stuff, to the vet and they'll see that it gets to the local shelters that need it. Will be doing that monday.

So sorry to hear about the kitty, Gate. My thoughts are with you guys and Kiernan.

Thanks for thinking of other kitties, too, and donating the supplies. Shelters really appreciate that.

PG&E (gas & electric) continues to be an amusing and infuriating piece of work.

So I just learned that a big power company in Florida stopped taking Visa.  And didn't, like, tell everyone right away, which is maybe not the best approach when tons of your customers have set up automatic debits.  Also who the fuck doesn't take Visa?

Won out this week; led two sessions, one on post-structuralism, gay liberationism and queer theory & another session on the predicament of black feminist thought in the postmodern era.

OK, so, school is great and all, but I have not -ever- had to read over 1100 pages in just one week while trying to maintain sanity and clarity (on a srs note: will look at page counts before signing up for presentations in the future). But I did it, and ended pretty fucking successfully.

Amid my extreme exhaustion (which brought me to physical, non-emotional tears yesterday before passing out), I trudge back to my library carrel for even more reading and find a wonderful, wonderful surprise from a friend-artist: CANDY RAINBOW CIRCLE WITH A STUFFED ANIMAL.

What best matches the extreme infantilizing process of doctoral study but NONE OTHER THAN CANDY AND STUFFED ANIMALS? Love it, and thank you library for not removing it.
