TIME FOR ANOTHER EPISODE OF SOAP OPERA ASHLEY:

That job that I was a shoo-in for, the one that would let me design a new department? That fell through. It got really *weird* around the end of December. They started not responding to emails as quickly, and then sent me a vague one asking me to call them. I did, and they said it didn't seem like I was as interested. The behavior that triggered that? Three emails in a single week, each one offering more suggestions of job descriptions, and reference contact information. Not Good Enough!

Then they called my references anyway. Then they waited until just this past Monday to let me know "it looks like what we have available is not the best fit for your skills and experience level." Uh huh. Whatever.

The job they wanted me for, at least the job we talked about, was perfectly in line with my experience and their requirements. They wanted to pay less than $45k for a job whose tasks recommended a salary of $55k+. So, basically, I think they completely wasted my time by not knowing what they wanted.

Next step is... I don't know. Still not at the point where I *need* a job, so I guess back to pursuing alternatives and keeping an ear to the ground for opportunities worth applying for. I'm plenty okay with this!

Speaking of which, the Airbnb job I applied for fell through. Ashley, if anything else shows up in your area that I'd be a decent fit for, shoot me up as well. I've been doing some looking myself, but there are issues when you're in a different country. >_> I should pull up a cover letter model once I get back.

I'm sorry that one didn't work out. I'll definitely keep an eye out! I'm regularly combing through Craigslist and LinkedIn for jobs for myself, and you're not that far off from my skillsets. Easy.

The only places that really seem to be interested in sponsoring VISAs right now are medical residencies, and even then, places seem a little loathe to do a lot of it.

It doesn't always work. One of my friends was looking forward to the end of that routine after he came out, but now that he's getting married and his little brother is a confirmed drug addict, his mom is just yelling at him to adopt the day after they tie the knot.
