Yeah, I can acknowledge that kind of paucity in relationships in general. Calling them "friendzone" immediately transports me into roll-eyes-so-hard-they-create-crevices-in-my-eye-sockets land, though, especially considering the social context where the friendzoning context flourished. The bottom line remains that nobody is -ever- entitled or obligated to romantic/carnal affections in a consensual relationship.

The situation it refers to is the same but attitudes regarding it are totally different: feeling like you're 'unjustly' placed as a friend and why don't they just see me as romantic partner material, as opposed to wanting more but being afraid to compromise what you have if it goes sour. One's eye-rolling privilege mongering, the other is a real social dynamic concern.
<Eph> When Laggy was there to fuel my desire to open crates, my life was happy.  Now I'm stuck playing a shitty moba and playing Anime RPGs.

I am clearly not one to say anything on this one, but just saying something is the apparent way to go about it.  Harder to do than to say to do so though...

ㅛㄷ모, 솜ㅅ'ㄴ

whoops, switch keyboard mode...

Yeah, that's my problem.  Like...we've gone to dinner together a few times, and he's insisted on paying...some of the time, so like...that makes me think there might be interest there.  And he has used the exact words "I do want to see you again" which at least to my western ears is a phrase that tends to have romantic connotations.  (But he's an Asian immigrant, so I'm not sure if these are romantic signals or if this is just a cultural way he was raised).

But like...I invited myself over to his place a little while back, and among other things we watched a movie and some dreamhack stockholm, and I was trying moves like shuffling closer to him till our arms were touching lightly, but whenever he moved, he'd be very careful not to initiate any physical contact, and I was like...huh?

And as much as I was thinking it, I was not anywhere near brave enough to say "yo, don't be afraid to touch my arm, I mean really...."

That's actually kind of adorable. But yeah, it looks more like a situation where a little bit of forward honesty might do good, since it looks more like shyness than actually being in that awkward middle-ground between friendship and romantic inclinations.

EDIT: Of course, keep in mind that my perspective is brutally blunt.

Your first problem is that you're "figuring out how to get a boy to notice you."

Shit don't work.  You've got to be pretty obvious if you want to draw the attention of guys if you don't already have it.  Be up front. If he likes you then you taking the first step is going to be appreciated especially because I have a hunch that, if you're into him, this guy is nerdy and awkward as fuck.  If he's not into you, it will only ruin the friendship if you continue to cling to any sort of hope of a romantic relationship with him.

Awkward guys are awful at picking up on signals, and are probably too scared to act on them even if they do pick up on them... for the exact same reasons you're afraid of making the first move.  It will only ruin your friendship if one of you keeps hoping for a romantic relationship where there isn't one to be had.  Be forward. Ask him out on a date. Say it exactly like that: Do you want to go on a date with me? If he says no, well that's just that much less time you'll spend crushing on him instead of pursuing relationships with people who will be into you.

Feelings are awkward, relationships are complicated~

In my experience I think if it's a really/good friendship it's possible to put feelers out and establish whether or not there could be any more to it without compromising the friendship and not being too direct or too vague, might just be me though.

Hope you're feeling better Snow.

Received quote for getting shower installed in bathroom today, inc electric shower, four sheets of splash back board (going for platinum wave, blizzard or frost white if I go for the deal), shower pole, curtain, electrician and plumber labour - £1100~ approx >_> More expensive than I thought, didn't realise the splash board was going to be so expensive <_<

Considering my poor history of hygiene while depressed and also not being the most vigilant/vigorous/excellent at cleaning I think it might be good for my mental health to go for it and I've been told splash back requires a lot less effort/time on cleanings than tiles, also been told tilers charge by the hour and I have a fair bit of wall to be done >.>

Also I have been invaded by ants.

Setting my location to be Korea has had almost no impact on my computer other than enabling unicode in several programs.

Oh, and Mcafee antivirus now only displays in Korean x_x

Talked to my friend a bit more directly, used the Ciato approach of asking "are you single".  Got an answer of "technically yes, but I'm not on the market, and am bad at relationships."

I've been getting seriously back into job searching, which has been a little disheartening. This week had some good news: one of my friend's companies is hiring for what I do, so I got an in-house referral opportunity that has turned into an interview with the hiring manager on Tuesday; a recruiter contacted me about a unique opportunity to work with a CMO one-to-one; another recruiter contacted me about a paid internship with high probability to turn into a FT gig at the end.

I am really gunning for the job with the referral company. They pay decently, I know the company is pretty laid-back, it's in the city, they have international offices I have a chance at someday transferring to, they have awesome benefits, plus my friend said he'd give me the referral bonus they'd give to him. <_<

It's nice to get some bites. I was getting really paranoid about my qualifications and personality because 9 out of 10 applications were going without reply. Given how I made the connections above, it seems it's still true: networks are everything.

And make that four interviews: Andrew and Laggy's company just called me to set one up for next week.

Yep, definitely need to pay more attention to this networking thing in the future. Apparently most companies shouldn't even bother with open applications given how often they promote/hire from within or within's closest contacts.

I hope one of these works out! Unemployment does suck. I feel like a fake American every time I avoid making a purchase because of budgeting.

Instead of every time you live in California?

In other news, now I know what it feels like to throw up the food you ate 10 hours ago.  That is way more work than I expected.

Not sure what to do for breakfast now...

I grew up in Texas. It didn't instill me with any great loyalty to that state, but it did encourage me to stake my loyalty in a state. I've chosen California. Therefore, California is the only true America.

Boo on losing dinner. Any luck on it having included Vegemite? A lot of the time, vomiting can turn someone off of a food entirely.

Then again, Vegemite already tastes like vomit. So who knows.

Hope you find something to settle your stomach, in any case -- definitely not cool. Broths, starches, and ginger have all helped me in the past, maybe one could help you?

It was probably just poorly prepped chicken.  That is what I get for cooking.  Pink after 2 days in the fridge should mean throw me out, not just try fixing it on the stove.  I think I just singed and burnt the outside without fixing the problem.

It really sucked because I had started prepping today's chicken before it happened...  Sooo I have a day and a half so of chicken that my stomach protests whenever I look.

I had a protein shake and that is sitting pretty good.  I will have Oats before training and see how I go.

Yeah, having worked in a meat department I know all too well to never take a chance on poultry. The best way to check it is the smell. If there's any smell whatsoever, I wouldn't even take it out of the pack. That said, a little pink will be... okay. Just be sure to take a meat thermometer to it and make sure the insides reach the magic number: 185 F for chicken and turkey, if I remember right.
