So, I actually signed up for that therapy, after snapping at one of my students for... nothing really... and having another one of my students come up to me and tell me, verbatim, "I sink... Mistaa (Zenny)...  lookusu... えっと、悲しそう英語で何。。。ああ、 saddo.  Faitto!". Sigh. That's a problem.

The guy I got referred to, in addition to working with the problems I'm having, is also a substance abuse specialist so I get the feeling I'm going to drop it after one session.  Still at least worth checking out.  Maybe I can even get some drugs off of him! Like ones that I can take before work.  And shut up all the yelling I do in my head.  That'd be nice.

Pretty sure it's going to be a waste of money though.

Okay srs face time instead of joking, I am glad you have at least tried it.  Therapists are a mix bag and different ones are different for every person.  If this guy doesn't work out and you are still up for trying then I would ask him for a recommendation.  A good therapist should give it.  He should also respect your choice with drinking in my opinion.  We both know it would probably help in the long term, but I don't think it is necessarily the time or place.  There should be other environmental issues that are impacting you as well that can be addressed.  Take wins where you can.

Also we are mostly in the same timezone.  I know my availability is spotty while life is being bullshit, but if you aren't trashed and want someone talk serious with then just drop us a message.  If you are trashed and want to yell or just piss about then that is an option as well.  I don't think serious discussion will help if you have written yourself off though.

Been legit worried for you most of the last year or so dude.

 Edit - and anyone that hands out meds on the first session isn't someone you want to see.

Don't preemptively diss the therapy, Zenny. Therapists are good, but I would also suggest a therapist when you return to America, just because cultural differences about coping, etc. may differ? Dunno. Anyway, I'll catch you on gchat one day and see if it's helped!

I'm pretty sure he stole from my till is the problem. If I report him it just looks like I messed up my cash intake and am trying to blame it on someone.

My advice:

Go to management.  Tell them that you lost $40 at X time and place.  Do not mention that you suspect it was your coworker, even if that is a blindingly obvious inference.  Let them make the inference.  Do not, in the first instance, demand the money from them.  If they are obligated to pay, that obligation will not change over time.  Check back with management in two weeks to see if they have taken any action to address the issue.  Do not suggest to them what you think said action should entail.

First week at work has been awesome. I love the people, the job is interesting enough, there's plenty of room for me to do stuff I care more about, and I am actively encouraged to play games at work. I get my first ridiculously large paycheck in two weeks, and I'm just trying to find a new place to live so Andy and I don't have a 45-90 minute commute each direction every day.

Unfortunately, rent here is even worse. We're looking at paying $700-1000 a month more than what we're already paying. Plus, apparently having a laundry machine in your unit is the most luxurious of luxuries, so it's been hard to find the right place I even feel remotely satisfied with paying that much more for. Less fun.

Therapy 2 sessions in. May be the most stressful thing ever. Do not like talking about my emotions or their causes that deeply, which is to say, at all. Think it's beneficial though... maybe. Going to give it until the end of June before I decide I'm just going to drop out and get anti anxiety medication from a hospital here. Tellingly, one of the things that came to light is that I should be talking about my emotions more but oh man fuck that. Emotions is bad news bros.

Congratulations to you, too, Zenny. Therapy is a difficult thing to start, and I am glad to see you are willing to give it some time to shake itself out. Do not be afraid to see what you can do to find another therapist if the one you're seeing isn't clicking. In the past, it took me a few tries before I found someone I really got on with, and when that happened the experience was wholly different.

Found an apartment, so we are moving in a couple weeks. It's amusingly similar to our current place, except I have to use a coin-op laundry machine again (damnit). But at least the commute won't be an hour each way anymore.
