Go to Gym and do Deadliffs in the morning. Match my previous PB for single rep in sets of 3/2/2. Feel pretty stoked because of it. Go have a cold shower. Come out to watch someone crying in pain.

Moving this weekend. Finally will stop having to drive an hour to work and an hour home. Now will be ~10-15 minutes. Yay!

Less yay is the actual moving part. I hate moving. I hate boxes. I hate trying to find everything I boxed up, and find a place for everything.

I do like having gone through the pantry to find food that expired a year or two before we even moved to our current place, or even the one before. WHY DO WE STILL HAVE THOSE?!

So, there's a drink here called Umeshu. It's Ume, Japanese plum, and Nihonshu, or sake. Last year, a friend of mine changed up the recipe and made Umequila, which you can guess what that is.

This year, I am making 4 liters of it. Party time.... in 3 months.

I'm okay! The protests have reached an absolute ideological nadir, though, which means, in return, that I'm not going to any of them any time soon, and I think they'll start waning in due time.

I recently listened to a lot of songs I haven't listened to in a long, long time. Most of them videogame OSTs. A lot of nostalgia brought back, but also a lot of...

god, what the fuck am I doing with my time here? I can read most things fine (Heisig, baby), but... my listening and speaking skills in Japanese are wholly subpar. What I'd expect to have upon COMING to the country, not being in the midst of my time here.

It's put me in a really depressive mood. Like, I go out when I can, try to talk to Japanese people when I go out, but maybe I need to step it up. Maybe I need to stop reading so much in English when I'm relaxing, try to immerse myself in Japanese. But then again, I do want to keep writing, which has been coming along more.

I don't even know what I'm rambling about. Maybe I'm just drunk. Still, you'd think I'd be able to understand more than half of what's being sung in these songs after being here two years. Maybe I'm just wasting my time.

Can you understand half of what gets sung in English without really turning your ear to it? Lyrics have the flow of language all fucked up, the rhythm is all off all the time. No shock that you still struggle with it for a second language.

Zenny: put it in perspective. Go find a random group of foreigners who have lived in Japan for 1-3 years and see how good their Japanese is. When you find out you're inevitably better than at least 50% of them by virtue of putting in -any effort whatsoever-, you'll feel better and not worry about it so much. This 'not worrying' thing will also improve your speaking/listening fluency. And you get to do it by acting superior to others and reveling in their failures! It's win-win!
