I mean it's not offensive or anything, it's just... safe.  Very generic shonen stuff, doesn't bring anything new to the genre.  Action isn't particularly good, characters are fairly unremarkable outside of the kappa girl and Gran Torino.  It's basically a retread of Tiger and Bunny with less interesting things.

Now granted I haven't seen the anime, which may address some of these issues.

Black Clover is the most interesting of the new manga in Jump atm.

Agreed it does play it close to the shounen playbook, but for a Jump title it definitely switches up reader expectations a lot, in the same was Seven Deadly Sins over in... Sunday? does. OP/Naruto/Bleach have conditioned people to expect certain story beats in Shounen, and MHA (and 7DS) tends to gleefully subvert expectations.

I dunno though. I was of the mind that while Tiger & Bunny had an interesting premise, it didn't really do anything interesting with it at all.
