The preferred Air Port is Burbank and Los Angeles. I am more familiar with Los Angeles as I work around that area, but Burbank is less crowded and closer.
Ontario is also an option, but that one is much further away.

Andy and I are 99% driving down. Snow may be with us. That will mean I might have room in the car for 1 more person traveling from the Bay Area. I will have a better idea what we're doing after Saturday, but wanted to put that here for now.

If we do drive down, we'll likely leave Wednesday morning and aim to get there Wednesday evening. If we're going to ComicCon, we'll be leaving LA on Sunday/Monday to stay with Andrew's family for a couple days, then driving down to San Diego on Wednesday. If we're not going to ComicCon, we'll probably drive back up to the Bay Area on Monday or Tuesday.

I'm down for driving down/up with you guys if you have the room and don't mind the extra 300lbs of Gate crammed in the car on the trip? If not though, I can handle my own travel no sweat.

Actually, I hadn't gotten a chance I ask yet, but I was kinda hoping that Ashley and Andy could put up with me for a few days before or after the con so I could spend some time in Cali. And maybe get reacquainted with Andy's writing projects if he's not too busy those days. Also, theme park trips if the con proper doesn't include one.

Not sure what your schedule is like at that time though.

Doesn't matter to me all that much. I'm going to be driving, the rest of y'all need to figure out how to cram yourselves into our small car. It will *technically* seat 5, and we've done the drive to SoCal in an only slightly bigger car with a similar composition of peoples, but... like I said. I'm going to be plenty comfy in my driver's seat. I'll let Andy duke it out with the rest of you.

I think the composition would be pretty clear assuming Gate/DJ/me/Andy: Gate in the other front seat, the other three in the back. Since I'm tiny, it -probably- won't be necessary to use the glove drawer.

Also, once your ComiCon destiny is decided, I'll PM you for the how tos for post-con in case you -do- get tickets, since I don't think it'd be very comfortable to invade Andy's household with extra baggage.

I will confirm a lot by Sunday, once I'm for sure about whether we're doing ComicCon. Some details may change -- if Andy or I get a job that makes getting more time off, one of us may end up flying, for example -- but I'm committing to the Con time-frame come hell or high water, and at least one of us will be driving the car down.

Okiedokie. People have expressed desires to hang out with us before/during/after Con, so here's where we are right now:

We're driving to the Con. We'll be leaving Wednesday, most likely, meaning we'll get in Wednesday, July 10th, in the evening.

After the Con (Monday July 15? Tuesday July 16?) Andrew and I and whoever else wants to come will probably be staying with his mom in the mountains about 90 minutes east of LA. On the Wednesday or Thursday after Con, July 17th or 18th, we'll drive down to San Diego. We're staying with a friend who may or may not have lots of floor space to share -- I'll try to figure it out for sure, because trying to find a hotel in San Diego during SDCC would be an unholy nightmare, and expensive to boot -- until at least Sunday. Then we'll be driving back up to the Bay Area on Sunday July 21st or Monday July 22nd.

Snow is staying with us. He hasn't bought tickets yet, but he'll start in San Francisco for sure, and will be driving down with us to the Con. I am pretty sure his plan was to fly back to Brazil the Friday-or-so after the Con.

Our apartment:
We have 2 bedrooms, but limited sleeping surfaces and hardwood floors all around. One spare bed, one futon cushion, one couch. Lots of floor space but, again, hardwood floors everywhere. There's a shady-as-fuck hourly motel down the street from us, but I think you might prefer to find your own hotel/hostel or crash with another Bay Area DLer than risk being shanked for drugs there.

Our car:
Comfortable room to drive down to SoCal with 1 more person (that is, me + Andy + Snow + someone), and can find space for 1 more person after that (me + Andy + Snow + two someones). I do not believe Snow will be coming back up to NorCal with us when we drive back, so we'll have three spaces for the return trip.

Major caveat: Andy is looking for a new job, and I'm doing whatever the hell it is I'm doing, so the timing of all of this is subject to change. I'll give as much advanced warning as I'm able, and I won't leave anyone who makes plans around us in the mud -- we'll always work something out!

I'm looking into flights, but since I don't know what the pre-con and post-con events or lodging will be like, I don't know which dates or cities to book.

I'm totally down for an amusement park trip or something, but I don't want to book a hotel room for a whole week if I can crash with Andy/Ashley or something. And I know if I crash with them, it'll be better to fly into -their- city instead of Los Angeles.
