From what I can tell it's a calendar issue; 30-gig Zunes have 365-day calendars, and no date/time modification function (which means they run on Redmond/West Coast time).

Seriously: "build a calendar that works with leap years" is something that was taught to first year computer science students...10 years ago...as one of our beginner labs. Handling leap years wasn't even the hard part; the hard part was handling all the freaking months being different lengths.
