That's actually very surprising, because last year's finals were awesome.

Of course, the Stanley Cup finals put the most popular player in the NHL (Sid Crosby) up against the greatest franchise in Hockey (my Red Wings, natch).

Bicycle Hero. Brilliant!

EDIT: Which apparently isn't real. Damn. Oh well, I still thought it was neat.

My question:  Who gives a shit.  It is still awesome to watch.

OK, I'm not sure what's more impressive.  The feat itself or just how much of a douchebag that guy is.

The fact that he is a douchebag is what makes it great.

Edit - I mean like if you are bored like I was and check some of his other stuff he wears metal foil shirts other times.  In different colours.

Interesting article for hockey and basketball fans. Looks like hockey's getting resurgance. Some interesting things too. Like the Stanley Cup getting higher ratings than the NBA Finals last year...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/NHL-vs-NBA-Hockey-winning-in-attendance-fan-e;_ylt=AuzdEJm4roH7Ira8GRb7xLt7vLYF?urn=nhl,123904

Hockey's certainly picking up in Boston, though that has more to do with the local team being fun to watch and resurgent than a more national trend (unless the national trend also includes more hard hits and fights).

I'm basing this on enthusiasm and prominence of Bruins coverage in the Boston Globe, mostly.  Just the fact that the Bruins are competing for front-of-the-sports-section space is impressive given the success of the Celtics and drama of the Patriots.

EDIT: and just in time to prove my point:

http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/2008/11/there_will_be_blood_2.html

Incidentally, the Celtics played the Timberwolves last night, first time Garnett has played against his old team since he sat last year's out with an injury, so it's him vs. the players they traded him for, who before the trade were hyped in Boston as the future of the franchise (Jefferson in particular).  And what's the top story today in the sports section online, you ask?  Bruins vs. Canadiens preview for tonight.  That says something.

The NHL really needs a real TV contract if it seriously wants to make inroads with the US market. I'd like to watch more Hockey but the coverage of games varies from bad to appalling.

Since people seem relatively excited about Laggy's FFT Hack, I thought I'd link another hack I found that seems to do things along the lines of what he's planning: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/465/

Neph: Yeah, Laggy's hack is a bit in response to that, since some of what they did is... um... um... kinda silly bizarre bad.

The mentality of that hack seems to be, "What do people who know FFT Mechanics use? NERF IT INTO THE GROUND. Orlandu too. "  I guess that's CHALLENGE. >_>

Yeah, I remember looking over that hack before and thinking they basically went out of their way to nerf anything a casual player would use, while making only token improvements to a few odds and ends.  Because, of course, improving enemies while nerfing random intuitive broken is the best way to achieve balance.

Apart from the horrible imbalance of that FFT romhack...

That site is one I hadn't ever seen before. I did some exploring and found a few games that I didn't know had full translations that I wanted to try (Treasure of Rudra, Live A Live, Persona 2:IS). Also, some of the cheesy FF4 and Chrono Trigger hacks look like fun time-wasters.

That's not quite right.  What the article said was that the Stanley Cup finals got higher ratings than the Eastern Conference Finals in Detroit, which is much less surprising.
