I can't even imagine CT's plot without Zeal; not only is it one of the best and IMO most fundamental parts of the game's story, but it serves as crucial development for Magus, the game's best-written character. Guess the CC writer was good for something!

Just seconding this because wow, rips the heart out of the game for me if Zeal isn't there.

BTW, regarding Shebat jail.
I remeber that it was Miang that was held down there. She tempted Lacan, who was going psycho because of Sophia's death, to free her by letting him know about the Zohar.
The Diablos are Deus's minion bots, which later was known as Aeons.
After Lacan made it to the Zohar, he acuqired some access to Deus's function and unleash the Diablos all over the world.

As for the limiterm Krelian inserted that into human genes when rebuilding the human race post the calamity, making the land dwellers easier to control.

Yeah, they say something about how people with Limiters become instinctively paralyzed with fear when confronted by Solaris or something along those lines.  It's something we are only told and never shown in action.  Bart, who still has his limiter until you get to Shevat, can fight Ramsus, who is both an identical duplicate of Cain and the leader of Solaris' army, without having any kind of reaction, so it seems like the idea of the Limiter is something that was conceived of midway through development and they never really thought it out very well.

The Diablos aren't properly explained ever, so it's PW territory.  Basically though, Grahf dug up some Eldridge relics, mechs meant to be fused with anima relics that he was able to directly control due to his Contact with Zohar.  Basically it was Grahf and a dozen prototype omnigears.

How many things ARE explained properly in that game?  There's so many things that got dropped that even stuff about the main plot is missing.

-Magma chests in the Iron Keep*. Even with the fire resist ring and Flash Sweat up, I can only survive long enough to make it to the chests. If these were items on corpses, I'd just grab them and die, but no, I have to be able to survive long enough for the entire chest-opening animation to play out. Ack. Short of taking time to identify and upgrade the most fire-resistant armor set in the game, doubt I am ever getting these two (maybe it would help if my only upgraded armor set was something other than the harem outfit).

Just got this one. By the sniper who attacks you when you're by the entrance to the big lava pit room there's a Pharros Lockstone that when unlocked releases a pool of water. Roll around in that and see if your footprints turn dark, if they do that means you have greater fire resistance for a while. Also you can drop straight by the chest from the draw bridge you lowered with the switches. You need the Silvercat ring or else you'll die from fall damage but it puts you right by the chest. Aside from that, Flash Sweat, Orange Burr, and any equipment that boosts your fire resist or health. You can also pop some lifegems to give you and extra few fractions of a second.

DS2: Elvis has left the building.

Someone tells me hey, go to the throne already, finish it, but I have reason to believe that Someone doesn't have my best interests at heart. So instead I'm poking around this old mansion and oh my god you guys I found the snazziest witch outfit, it's unbelievable. I'm too dumb to wear the hat (and, hilariously, wearing equipment you don't meet the stats for slows your movement down even if the stat in question is purely mental) but it looks totally fabulous even without that. I would definitely switch this in as my standard armor set if only I could upgrade it! But I can't because that calls for more twinkling titanite than I've found in the entire game (argh, why is this stuff so rare). Will have to table that one for whenever I get around to running a mage.

Keyblade got! Keyblade lost. :( Will I dedicate a ring slot to looking all pretty and human even while undead? You better believe I will.

Shrine of Amana was creepy, but in a sorta different way? Unexpected use of torchlight! Frog granny was a no damage kill, though. Crypt was just dark, discouraged use of torchlight. The bells, the belllllls! Presently in dragon country, which really doesn't bode well considering how encounter with the last one turned out (survival only because HP tankin'). Other than this...hmm, there's still that big black door in the Forest of Fallen Giants (which I should be able to open now). And someone tells me there's something beneath Black Gulch, which is just...auuuugh.

If it wasn't apparent from volume of ::words:: expended over last several days, pretty much all my silly early bitching about whoamg things are slightly different turned out to be stuff that is almost wholly inconsequential and I am in fact very impressed.

I tried all that stuff except the water pool (somehow didn't make the connection at the time) and still died. Always croaked right before finishing the chest opening animation. Oh well. Unless there's a hoard of ore in those chests, I don't much care to go back for it anymore. The strange thing is, when I tried popping an orange burr while Flash Sweat was active, I actually died faster. It seemed like the item effect overwrote the spell effect.

It's entirely possible that the two are mutually exclusive as I noticed something similar on one attempt. I think the water makes the biggest difference as I think it cuts the damage down by like half. The time I ended up getting it I even had enough time to fudge the landing a bit and lose a couple ticks of health and my build doesn't have a lot of health at all. My Vitality is still in the single digits. The chest has a shield by the way. It has really good fire resistance and decent enough everything else. It wouldn't surprise me if it had  some hidden stat bonuses though. Apparently there a quite a few items with unlisted bonuses to certain stats.

First off, I totally agree that CT without Zeal would be just off, seeing how big an arc it is, and how it legitimately plays a serious role in the storyline, not to mention so many things stem from it, and they don't even feel forced either.

If there's anything that felt remove-able from CT, it'd be 65 million BC.  That felt like it was mostly there because "You have time travel, how can we not put in a Dinosaur Themed area and a Cave(wo)man PC?" more so than anything else.  Not saying the game was hurt by this, just doesn't really add much to the game's overall narrative, contrast to the other major time periods which all play some sort of significant role.

BUT that's neither here nor there.

Soul Silver: Elite 4 time!  I got me a Mamoswine too, making this my 2nd playthrough of Soul Silver having a Ground type from Sinnoh!  That said, I am kind of scared of the E4 because my team is really awkwardly set up, and a little underdeveloped due to a number of changes.  Also decided to replace Jolteon with Raikou, which I may regret because Jolteon has T-bolt...I might go and do like 5 hours of Voltorb Flip granted <_<

Also possibly should consider replacing Vileplume with something, though dunno what; lack of a decent attack is holding it back.

Go ahead and keep Vileplume. If I can get through SS E4 with a Delibird, you'll survive.

I always thought it was funny that the guy who wrote CC needed to ascribe not the development of language or technology (since the humans in Ayla's village have mastered things like fire, toolmaking, and rudimentary construction) but the development of grammatically correct syntax in the mere span of 64,988,000 years to Lavos exposure.

Dark Souls 2: Fuck those enemies outside Undead Purgatory. Fuck that item sitting right next to the bridge on Undead Purgatory. Fuck Skeletons.

Tried Poisonville, not quite happy with the way the dark orb from those giant things murders me.

Found a Greatsword. Went to Tomb of Sinners. Used a Pharos Keystone and then was sad. Murdered some rats. Lost a bunch of souls misjudging a roll.

Dark Souls 3: From the Future!  Managed to solo Pursuer after a half-dozen deathes?  Going back to Demon's Souls everything does half your health in damage always is still bullshit.  Especially when the roll randomly decides to let damage through.  Woo.  Flex Sentry down as a joke.  Ruin Sentinal down after three attempts and just as many summon success in 20 summons.  I can't wait for the slog that is Lost Sinner.

On upside news, I managed to get my Caestus to +6 which means when I get another Lockstone I'm going to Bellbro it up.  Also going to grab hexes as a secondary because lordie is my damage sad.

IN OTHER NEWS.  The Ring of Life Protection aka this game's Ring of Sacrifice breaks when you die.  Breaks.  Like every other object.  As in it can get repaired at the Blacksmith for 3000 souls.  Enjoy never losing human form again.  Unless Pursuer curses you ffffffffffff.

If you have a ranged attack, they can't angle their dark orb attack at all. Get angled either below or above them and their dark orb will whiff or get caught on a ledge.

FF Dimensions: Into the paladin chapter. Dancer chapter was pretty good, and I was able to finally accumulate some cash reserves by gambling for a fuck-ton of X-Potions. Not sure what I'll do with the class, but hey. Experimenting is good, right? Paladin I do know what I'm doing with, since it seems about perfect for the Spellblade ability Sol is about to learn.

Out of curiosity, you are supposed to just jump for it, right? Pretty sure I just keep failing at pressing jump correctly and then being mad that I have to walk back through the douche monsters.

We're talking the item right outside Undead Purgatory entrance, right? On the stone ledge. You can make the jump, it's just kind of bitchy (I made it and died on the way back, meaning I had to make it again to recover souls. B'oh).

The presence of a wheel skeleton picture in that collection pleases me greatly, Grefter.

Dark Souls 2: Do not play if you have arachnophobia seriously

So yeah I don't understand what happened here with the giant soul.
So there's a lot of plot hidden in the game and trying to understand the story will probably take a lot longer than in Demon's / Dark. I've noticed that you can sometimes hear faint female-ish voices when you do not move for a little while. Wonder whether they say anything not gibberish.

I'm fairly sure it's just more adaptability = more i-frames, not the roll randomly not working.
The difference between my first and second fight with Pursuer was night and day.

Oh man now I can't use that ring at all

Doing a first playthrough as blindly as possible and that's just too much info. I wasn't going to use it except in emergency uses!
Honestly the regen is way too slow anyway. It is Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines level slow.

I'm in the obvious last stretch of the game.

Edit: Also, that ant. It will haunt me.
And that room in the castle. Jesus.
