Cerberus does not have HP-J (or any elemental defense).  Enhanced Spirit is what will allow Squall to weather Holy or Flare.  Or Reflect or Shell.

Just confirming this. I made a mistake (was going off memory) and it seems like nobody else caught it or nobody cared. Or both. I blame CK though.

Labyrinthia Wordsworth (Wild ARMs XF)* (2-0) vs Citan Uzuki (Xenogears)*  (1-1) - Kneejerk

Millenia (Grandia II)* (1-1) vs Lucian (Valkyrie Profile)* (2-0) - Not having access to Magic Recovery or Move Recovery is a bit of an issue since it causes lag for her, but she probably still makes it, if barely.
Cidolfas Orlandu (Final Fantasy Tactics) (1-1) vs Arceus (Pokémon) (2-0) - I guess this comes down to how you treat normal physicals vs. Ghost typing. I don't buy Ice Brand resolving the issue. Would make it Ice physical but Orlandu also has to give up Excalibur's superior WP and his armor just to boost the damage, which then gets whittled down by Cosmic Power.

Squall Leonhart (Final Fantasy VIII)* (2-0) vs Ramza Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics)* (2-0) - See above. Ramza has Squall vastly outmaneuvered. If Squall had more than 1 GF, this might be a different story, as is:

- Cerberus is out. No HP-J so his HP is definitely below average. Flare is already close to OHKOing things already and without HP-J, Squall probably eats a OHKO from this. Even if he doesn't, this comes down to as mentioned, whether or not you see Squall being able to pull off an Aura Renzokuken before Ramza gets a turn. Otherwise, Ramza has way too many status to throw at him, which he can't block.
- Carbuncle is out. Math Skill ignores Reflect, so this only shuts down Squall himself. It has HP but no Spr-J. Might be able to survive a Flare, but loses the speed advantage. Still suffers from the status to boot.
- Brothers is out. No St-Def J so he's a sitting duck. Defend doesn't reduce status rates
- Pandemona is likely his best choice with Aura Renzokuken. He *might* be able to take this, but Pandemona lacks St-Def J options so Squall gets status'd out.

No other really good GF choices here. Comedy option for Ramza to cast Innocent or BERZERK on Squall if he tries to run a Meteor set up. DOOM also exists and operates outside of ID in FF8, and MAY actually be an option for Squall but 16 secs in FF8...eh. Not inclined to buy it, even though it would be the Laggy-iest thing.

Rebecca Streisand (Wild ARMs 5)* (0-2) vs Lenna Charlotte Tycoon (Final Fantasy V)* (2-0) - Break Blade. WA5 does not have a Petrify equivalent so GGs
Isolde Schelling (Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis) (2-0) vs Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI) (1-1) - Terra doesn't OHKO, so Isolde just piles up the damage at a ridiculous rate which she can't deal with.
<napalmman> In Suikoden I, In Chinchirorin, what is it called when you roll three of the same number?

Oh right, scaling Alternis against the other twink PC setups means he is actually very much worse than Dark Knight. Doesn't the turn-draining thing still win him this battle if he gets a turn? Unless you see one of SH2's statusblockers covering it.

I don't remember what the turn draining attack was. I don't see anything in the stat topic either. Can you refresh my memory (or could you have meant DeRosso)?

Just noting that even without technical rings, Yuri 2 can definitely cross well over 1 PC HP damage (can do about 1.7 PC HP). I can't remember if Yuri was supposed to be SH 1 only here. If SH 2 is valid, then he may well take it (especially if he's not on technical, he just needs to do under half of Alternis' HP). Since I probably see Alternis around 3 PC HP, Yuri 2 would actually probably take this by avoiding the early 2HKO, getting lots of speed, doing 1.3ish to Alternis (one other big advantage of not taking technical rings...Yuri can purposefully miss an attack or two at the end if needed. Or not crit if needed).

Oh, this is just a mental exercise on my end, the Yuri in this tourney is specifically SH1.

EDIT: Also, Yuri2's Power Charge is 2.5x damage? I was always under the impression it was 2.25x, though that's probably just OK's SH3 Pink Bat figures looking clearly off (and, from your topic, looks like SH3 EC is unchanged from SH2). Yeah, 2.5x Energy Charge means he's a lot better at busting through Alternis HP and probably wins.

Labyrinthia Wordsworth (Wild ARMs XF)* (2-0) vs Citan Uzuki (Xenogears)*  (1-1): Surely he can beat out Distortion!
Luther Lansfeld (Star Ocean: Till the End of Time) (0-2) vs Claude C. Kenny (Star Ocean: The Second Story)* (1-1): Could he whore some kind of barrier to just watch Claude die? Guess not.
Beast Rune (Suikoden II) (0-2) vs Edward 'Edge' Geraldine (Final Fantasy IV)* (1-1): Edge's luck ends.
Yunalesca (Final Fantasy X) (1-1) vs Miakis (Suikoden V)* (1-1): Yunalesca vs. PC...

Millenia (Grandia II)* (1-1) vs Lucian (Valkyrie Profile)* (2-0): I guess she locks him down? SBE damage can KO too! Or was it '0'?
Captain Crow (Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King) (0-2) vs T260G (SaGa Frontier) (0-2)
Jade (Breath of Fire) (1-1) vs Dheginsea (Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn) (1-1): Ow.
Cidolfas Orlandu (Final Fantasy Tactics) (1-1) vs Arceus (Pokémon) (2-0)

Yuri Hyuga (Shadow Hearts) (0-2) vs Alternis Dim (Bravely Default) (0-2): Yuri2 wins, Yuri1 loses.
Maxim (Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals)* (1-1) vs Peach Toadstool (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars)* (1-1): I guess a super-status he can't block?
Ghaleon (Lunar: Silver Star Story) (0-2)  vs Virginia Maxwell (Wild ARMs 3)* (1-1): Too much pressure.
Squall Leonhart (Final Fantasy VIII)* (2-0) vs Ramza Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics)* (2-0): Squall can't land a status here because of Reflect Mail + Blade Grasp? Hmm. That leaves him with no options other than Auto-Reflect and bounce it off himself, but I guess he doesn't go first then. But Cerberus has HP, Spr, Spd, and St-Def... along with Auto-Haste and so on. What's to stop Squall from Aura->Smash if all of Ramza's status is depending on Mdef, which Squall junctions up to high hell?

Yuffie Kisaragi (Final Fantasy VII)* (1-1) vs Ryu (Breath of Fire IV) (1-1)
Empyrea (Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King) (1-1) vs Tiz Arrior (Bravely Default)* (1-1): Meteorz.
Rebecca Streisand (Wild ARMs 5)* (0-2) vs Lenna Charlotte Tycoon (Final Fantasy V)* (2-0): Regen.... yeaaaah.
Isolde Schelling (Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis) (2-0) vs Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI) (1-1): Break damage. Unless MOrph would halve break damage.
