The people who came up with those UIs must have never even heard of the concept of design. I swear half of those have more shit written on the screen than actual screen visuals. Also, half the data displayed makes absolutely no sense!

Long story short: Fenny is the bestest.

Agreed, I can appreciate some things about Sting's general aesthetic but the UI is super cluttered (some of those are taking up 3/4 of the screen!) and a lot of what they are showing you is absolutely mystifying or fucking useless.

I highly suspect the choices there exist to make the interface look edgy and cool without actually handing over much useful information ever. Obfuscation design by sensory overload at its crudest, really, though that's assuming they're actually thinking about their design choices instead of letting teenage font hormones run them over.

My experience with Sting games based on the three I played is that they pretty much just consist of throwing random shit at a wall to see what sticks, so I'm more inclined to suspect the latter.

I think I played Baroque more than Dark Souls. The game made me crazy.
I completed the whole baroque database.



Sting games (except Baroque) are funny because they have a ton of insane mechanics interfering with each other all the time and they're all kinda relevant. (except in Riviera because Riviera is piss easy)

FFT is kinda like that, but you soon figure out that you don't really need to give a fuck about stuff like Brave/Faith and zodiac signs, while Sting games throw in your face all the time (because of the ridiculous UI) that everything in this game matters.

I played Rondo of Swords for a short while but I wasn't ready for a Sting game at the time. I know Sting didn't make the game, but, here, let me just try adding a bunch of text with 10 different fonts on a random Rondo of Swords screenshot, and it instantly becomes a Sting game.

EDIT: Adding a filter and more gradients to the fonts would probably make it literally indistinguishable from a Sting game.

Codename STEAM - Chapter 14. After my last post I realised that Randolph was due for a try again, and of course I then send him out in a map where he's completely useless. Unlike Snow I don't really have the patience to reload and choose a different team unless I lose.... and actually I just realised it's been quite a while since I lost despite the fact that I did quite a bit in some of the early-mid maps? It doesn't really feel like the game has been getting easier (especially not that Stealth Prowler map. Man, fuck those guys) so I guess I have been getting better or something.

Fen I am pretty sure we can make the worst game of all time by combining Sting's inscrutable and meaningless UI with AAA objective vomit and collectables that literally encompass every step. Dumb sanctimonious shit like "this sword is my burden" or "these sheep are my burden" appear in comic sans while attacking or doing fetchquests. Also the rest of the game is Magna Carta.

Well. I guess DS2 certainly has the cluttered UI to earn my love! Too bad it's a solo RPG with ugly character models.

Turn offs aside, I genuinely like DS lore and have spent more time watching YouTube videos talking about its backstory than I have playing any of the Souls games.
