SRW OG1: Up through chapter 32 now.  At this point, I more or less have my final team setup, the only thing I haven't actually gotten to play with yet is the actual combined SRX.  I'll go ahead and evaluate what I thought of the cast in my run (remember, Ryusei route) so far, nonetheless; I doubt my opinions will change much between now and endgame.

Ryusei (Gespenst 2-TT -> Wildraubtier -> R-1): Weirdly unimpressive for an SRW main protagonist.  Both of his mechs are notably better than he is, really.  He's not utterly terrible, and most of the time you don't have anyone better to deploy on his route anyway, and his availability is solid at least.  Shishioh Blade has done wonders for his effectiveness in the late-game.
Rai (Schutzwald -> Huckebein 009 -> R-2): Probably the best of the SRX team.  Good stats, great seishin set.  R-2 is a bit of a mismatch for him (hampers his good dodging stats) but the weapons are right up his alley and you can fix it with upgrades/parts, so I left him in it.  Never disappointed me; even during all those water stages in the Schutzwald, I could fall back on (upgraded) Autocannon for solid offense.
Aya (Gespenst 2-TT -> R-3): Ugh.  She's just not very good, and spent a lot of the midgame benched.  Very clearly the third wheel of SRX.  Only really worth deploying for R-Formation and the eventual SRX combine, even in this route.
Garnet (F-28 Messer -> Lion F): My favorite support pilot in the game.  Huge SP pool and 20 SP Trust is just amazing and lets you play extremely aggressively, which is fun.  Ryusei route also gives you time to get her kills and pilot points; if you can get her up to SP Regen (I didn't) I suspect she'd be absolutely insane.  She's terrible at combat, in the long run, but that's not what she's there for.  Deployed her in every map I could and never regretted it once.
Giado (F-28 Messer -> Schutzwald): Filler PC and little else.  I had to use him a bit again in the lategame, and he does perform better than an empty slot, at least.  The mech is a mismatch, but he's not getting any of the things that he'd actually be better in as they go to better pilots to him.  Felt like a liability in the plane.
Latooni (F-28 Messer -> Wildraubtier): Really good, although I actually don't think she was my MVP in this run.  Overcosted Valor hurts her a little, and the enemies didn't like targeting her as much as usual.  She also did a bit of time in the 009 and performed well there.  Really, she's good in just about anything you put her in.  But she wasn't whoamg amazing this run, either.
Ryoto: Only got used in one or two stages (in a Gespenst 2-TT) and was generally a liability.  Probably would have been okay if I hadn't stolen his mech to use as a support bot, but I don't like him much as a character type.
Rio (Gespenst 2-M -> Huckebein 009 -> Huckebein 2): She was decent, and only that, once she got real mechs.  I feel she'd be better used in a different mech, but other PCs would be better used in that same mech, so she ends up with this.
Irm (Gespenst 2-M -> Huckebein 009 -> Grungust): Man everyone went through the 009.  Anyway, he was pretty awesome in this run.  I don't think I'd call him MVP but he's definitely one of my better PCs.
Ingram (Wildschwein): Solid while he's around.
Tasuku (Giganscudo): The Giganscudo's lack of range sucks, but what the hell else is Ryusei going to deploy?  Didn't see play on every map, but performed okay when it did.  Filler, but pretty good filler.  I equipped him with the +10 starting will part, which helped a lot.
Katina (Gespenst 2-M -> R-Gun -> Valsion Custom): Pretty great once she got the Valsion.  I don't think I'd bother deploying her if I hadn't gotten it, it plays hard to her strengths (and covers her weaknesses extremely well).
Russel: Only used him in one map where he was forced, where he was an okay supporter.
Radha (Schutzwald -> Guarlion): She saw a bit of support use lategame.  I like Garnet better in general, but Radha's less helpless in combat, so that's a thing.  Probably my pick for second support PC when you can afford to use two.
Bullet (Huckebein 2 -> Wildschwein): He sucks in the Hucky 2.  Like, really badly.  He's still not that great in the Wildschwein.  He wants a super robot and there aren't enough in this game to give him one.  Bleh.
Kusuha (Grungust Type 2): Pretty good, but I don't get the huge DL hype for her.  12 SP Guard would be ridiculous in most SRWs, but by the time you can field her most enemies are frankly not that threatening, and Giganscudo/Valsion Custom can tank them admirably without blowing away SP on it.  She misses most of the fights you'd actually really badly want that 12 SP Guard in, frankly.  Still, overall I'd say she was in the top half of my PCs?  Maybe.
Leona (R-Gun): Basically a second Latooni.  Equally good at it.
Gilliam (Gespenst 2-S): Decent lategame filler I guess.
Kyosuke (Alteisen): Solid.  Game liked putting him in the back of the formation all the time, which held him back.  I miss newer SRWs letting you control your starting formation.
Excellen (Weissritter): I'm glad she can equip weapon modules to get a P attack that isn't terrible.  That said, solid PC.  Kyosuke makes her better, of course.
Masaki (Cybuster): Probably my run's MVP.  Bless + Valor + Cyflash on a pile of weakened grunts = tons of cash, and I did this again and again over the course of the game.  He can boss kill with the best of them too, using either Akashic Buster or spamming Cosmo Nova with Garnet parked next to him.
Lune (Valsione): The other MVP contender, for exactly the same reasons as Masaki.
Hagane: The better ship of the two, but with worse pilots.  Overall it saw more use than...
Hiryu Custom: The worse ship of the two, but with better pilots.

VtM: Bloodlines - Replaying this with latest Plus patch.  Not sure how much stuff I am noticing for the first time and how much is added by patch (some is obviously patch).

- Ran into the Kuei-Jin you can fight in Santa Monica in the back alley behind the hospital (he just teleports away).
- Saw Becket running along the cliff tops in wolf form when I went to get the Astrolite.
- You can see the Elizabeth Dane from the room in the Hotel where you get Amulet.

Something that the patch definitely introduced was that Dominate sometimes makes the NPCs dance.  That's pretty great.  Dominate a Hunter and watch a dude in a trenchcoat start busting moves in the sewer.

Just finished the sewer part of Hollywood.  Holy fuck it is worse than I remember.  Like the whole last level is fucking pointless.  There is nothing in the maze but trash mobs, a key and an exit.  It is a maze full of dudes you just fought as a boss fight and some bullet sponges.  Also the Tzimitcie heads with legs things make me jump like a billion times more than the Hotel does.  not because they are scary, but because their sound balance is completely fucked, like twice as loud as the base audio and they scream every time they do the following
- See you
- Attack
- Jump around pointlessly
- Don't see you
- Walk around
- Jump around even more pointlessly

By the end of the dungeon I am pretty sure you have killed upward of a hundred of the fucking things and you are so desensitized to the shouting that it has dulled into the background like the white noise of your AC at work the same way Beheaded Kamikaze do in Serious Sam.

I tried to restart that on the new computer, but I couldn't even get it to run on Win8. Is this a known issue with a workaround?

D3: I started a monk in the new season, and RNG decided it loves me.

Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac, Broken Crown, Nagelring and a legendary potion dropped while I was rushing to level 70.
I went to spend blood shards after hitting 70, and two of my first three purchases were the chest armors from really good monk sets – Inna's Mantra and Uliana's Stratagem.
I went to do some bounties and almost immediately found the ice immunity amulet. I no longer have to hate Frozen bosses. I CANNOT OVERSTATE how much I hate Frozen bosses. This alone means I may just not touch my non-season Barbarian that I've been playing since release until the season ends and this amulet falls into my regular inventory.
Finished my first bounty chain, which happened to be in Act 2 – out pop the Illusory Boots, probably the best quality-of-life item in the game.

I feel like I should play the lottery now.

Or run an 11-pull on FFRK lulz

Speaking of which!

Final Fantasy Autobattle On The Big Bridge (The Black Mages version) - Yeah, so this DU has Battle On The Big Bridge. Cleared all the Classic dungeons of the update, currently running Elites. After this, max stamina will be 130, precisely enough for three daily runs in a row. Which ain't really meaningful, but so it goes. Also holy mother of fuck, Dark Knight has REMOTELY USABLE STATS. Too bad about the sub-Donkey Kong Cecil skillset. EDIT: nvm those are GALUF's stats. Dark Knight remains Coretastic.

We shall have our DL Duck Game tournament. Eventually.
It doesn't quite have the longevity of something like Towerfall but it's just perfect at what it is.

FFRK: That sandworm sprite is one of the coolest things in the game, I rank it on part with those Raijin/Fujin/Seifer/Rufus sprites. It's just a really big, drooling, sandworm. It looks awesome.

It seems that FF3 is the only game that has a decent levelling dungeon. Ah well. I might have fucking useless lvl 65 Luneth / Refia, soon-ish.
The websites say that Lightning's stats aren't too bad, but every time I've used her she's been LVP by far, contributing fuck all to the party.
Maybe spellbladers were only useful earlygame? My Squall and Cloud have been lvl 65 since forever now. Let's not get into her "Ranged spellblader" niche, which is like the dumbest niche around.

I dunno about you, but Lightning's been consistently performing for me as a melee unit (and is quite frankly my top physical unit now that I have her signature weapon, but so would Cloud if I had a Hardedge). Spellblades are currently in a rut right now, though: lower mult than Launch means they don't deliver when not hitting weakness and, of course, we're at the point where the slugfesting rage is all focused on the 4* abilities, and mages get the brunt of those. I'm not even sure if the 4* Spellblades will be a renaissance, since they're only 2.1x, IIRC? Regardless, I think we've made a near full-shift to the age of mage meta now.

Illusory Boots, probably the best quality-of-life item in the game.

Illusory boots is really good for monk, but if you use Dashing Strike you may eventually find you don't really need it.  That's how it went for me, anyway.  Dashing Strike can teleport through walls, and as a practical matter there is very little that is better for survivability than to just mouse over to where you would like your toon to be, hit a button, and then be there.

Monk is really great right now, and one reason is that every single monk set has really good set bonuses for 2 and 4 pieces.  You almost can't go wrong mixing and matching.  Uliana's 2 bonus works really well with the 4 bonus of Sunwuko - you inflict Exploding Palm on a ton of dudes at once then get Sunwuko's 5x damage bonus to it.  It is delightfully obscene.  Or you can go the other direction and use Uliana's 6 bonus with Raiment's 2 bonus so you can do good damage with your generators inbetween casting 7-Sided Strike (and also use Raiment's attack speed bonus to get to that third hit of your generators that applies Exploding Palm faster).

Yeah, we need to club DL folks into four-player mode weekend times. Did I mention that you guys there's a button just for quacking? Because you guys there is a button just for quacking. Also whoever made this was seriously in love with the Genesis sound chip.

I should never pick up grenades.

It looks like there are a lot of user created levels, But I really don't get how user content works on steam. I click on the map in the workshop and then I have the option... subscribe? To something? And that's it?

Exploding Palm is wonderful even unbuffed, especially starting a new character with no stash or paragon levels or obscene gold reserves to fall back on. Kill one thing, everybody else dies. Nagelring is an especially great pairing for it when punching above my current weight class, because the minions it summons crit for 25 million goddamn damage when they suicide, so I can just EP one target in a crowd and let them start a chain reaction.

You had me at

Exploding Palm is wonderful

Really, the reason I keep coming back to D3 is that Blizzard keeps finding ways - somehow! - to make Exploding Palm even MORE fun.  For example, before this patch, the DoT from Essence Burn did not stack.  Now it does.  I have been known, on occasion, to look a boss who has just been blasted by a dozen minions' essence burns straight in the eye and say, "You're already dead."

Does D3 have a walk button?  It needs a walk button so you can walk slowly away as dudes explode behind you.

Final Fantasy 7 - Yeah, after a long hiatus, I'm going back to this. Jesus christ, the programming of those timing-based events is woeful. I have no idea of what the timing on the jumping cable during the Shinra building invasion is supposed to be. The game at times -really- feels primitive. The plot ideas still feel like a wonderful little mess, which is cool. Holy crap, Hojo's utter derangement really flew over my head when I was 13.

Final Fantasy Because The Autobattle - Still doing Elites. Running Fire keeps paying off - used it as Lightning's backup weapon against Kalavinka Striker and it worked out nicely. Also doesn't hurt when I don't need her doing ranged for Sazh, whom I really started to appreciate as a jack-of-all-trades supporter: I'm often slotting him with the weird BM 3 status or WM 3 buffs/utility so I can pack up Diaga on my healer for very good results. Having him dump Faith on my mages often works just as well as using Mental Breakdown and requires less judicious timing. Too bad Faith doesn't work on Diaga.

I've also been watching pull videos from random Redditors because I clearly want to feel depressed about people spending hundreds of dollars on ill-fated gacha tangos. People seriously stream this shit.

FFRK:  Working on Elite Dungeons.  Still need to do Boss Rush and +/++ for Golbez, but meh.

Heavenstrike Rivals:  Beat all the story missions.  Uh, that was anticlimactic.  I guess they're planning on releasing more in the future?  Cause right now it's just kind of hanging there.

Have all the units I'm using promoted except my mages, because mage promotion material dungeon is like 10x harder than all the others.

FFRK: Just beat White Dragon with a fairly half-assed setup. Going in with Boon as my only mitigation move was a serious mistake, but after a couple of S/Ls I managed to make it work with two Curagas in play. I had nothing left by the end except for about 2 Bioras on Vivi and two REQUIEMS on Eiko. Rinoa got the kill with her second shot of Power Sigil (shared SB, basically a Comet clone).

....Okay, seriously, this is getting absurd. First (and only!) rift of the day, Uliana's helm and a Magefist. Yeah, that's good for an Essence Burn build. Jesus Christ, my direct damage is practically nil on T3 but it doesn't matter because as soon as I kill one thing, by waiting around for the minions to do it for me if necessary, it's just an endless cavalcade of explosions. Went fishing at Kadala again, why yes I would like the Inna's Mantra pants, why not.

Now I just need to do something about my boss strategy....

FFRK: Did a few more pulls on this Mage weapon heavy banner. Bunch of crap but then suddenly the light of a shiny 5-star! Could it be? Finally a Mage weapon?

No of course not, it's a bangle. Dragoon themed too. So yeah, hoping for game breaking Mage weapons, instead I got Kain paraphernalia.

At least there's lots more mythril in this new dungeon update left to collect!

Actually, the Dragon Bracer ain't half-bad for mages. Yeah, it's an attack bracer, but +18~ Mag and Mind off an armor slot is something only other 5* bracers and hats can achieve. Usual disclaimer about bracers being the best armor type in the game for overall offensive builds applies here. I guess there will always be the FF14, Hope and Zidane banners for your next magestravaganza russian roulette needs, though. Do at least keep any 4* rods you run across, since you may have better odds of combining them into fake 6*s and those can get you by pretty well. Spell mults are so nutsy that you can work with lower raw numbers than physicals. Flipside, physicals scale much better with buffs.

Seriously tho this is kinda the tough part.  If you have enough pieces of Uliana, 7-sided strike all the things.  Otherwise...well, I'm doing an Exploding Palm build and my second source of damage is Cyclone Strike.

Alternately if you have at least 2 pieces of Inna's, you can use Air Ally to get a healthy amount of spirit (8 per second with the first Inna's set bonus, plus 100 every 30 seconds) then use Wave of Light for real damage.

Alternately alternately, get 2 pieces of Raiment and suddenly your spirit generating attacks do legit damage.

Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

Could it be the items I need?  No, it is the items I deserve.

Payday 2 - Reset my progress along with younger brother.  Try it out with all the new DLC.  Still a fucking great game when it is firing on all cylinders.  Still really shitty when they fuck with balance.  Oh you didn't know this map was balanced to be harder than original maps?  Well fucking deal with it, fight stuff that is about 3 difficulty levels overture comparatively.
NO MORE POKEMON - Meeplelard.
The king perfect of the DL is and always will be Excal. - Superaielman
Don't worry, just jam it in anyway. - SirAlex
Gravellers are like, G-Unit - Trancey.

DS2 - Some Russian dude invaded Laggy and he summoned me as my dual-whip wielding Naughty Adolf. He proceeded to kill me 5 times (never actually attacking Laggy) while I ran around throwing the I'm Sorry wood carvings.

I think we finally beat the game.

FFRK - Progress is slowing down considerably but that's OK. I think I finally hit about what I should expect for average mythril gain from now on instead of the flood of mythril they give you to bait you into the game. Also ran out for story dungeons that gave me 3+ stamina gems so I'm probably past the point where the game will let me play basically all day for free, and that's also a good thing.  Really starting to feel the lack of decent physical weapons, even with both Kefka and Terra with 5* rods fielding multiple R4 and R3 Agas I'm running out of spell charges before the ends of high-end dungeons and my physical hitters just can't compensate well enough. Like, I'm not sure that Necrophobe is doable for me right now because I just run out of spell charges before I can even take down 2 of the 4 barrier nodes to take him out, and my physical damage is loltastic (1-2k~ vs 5-8k) by comparison.

The other option is farming orbs for spells and so I'll probably do that a bit while also trying to focus on getting mythril for one more 11 pull before I leave for vacation on Friday.

It's looking like I probably won't get Galuf's 2nd crystal just due to going on vacation in a few days where I'm making a point of NOT playing the game in part just to show that I can. I am OK with this, because Galuf looks shitty. 5 Monk and not much else. Too bad, since he was the best FF5 character.

On the other hand, Faris is doing really well on the B team. 4* Support so can use Hi-breaks, can use my whip so has a decent physical, and I could get a couple 4* Speed skills without hurting my mage resources too much so I may end up levelling her up next EXP day and fielding her until I get a sword or second dagger or something.

I think in the short term my best hope will be either a second piece of Inna's that doesn't conflict my my Uliana's gear, or finding the second Shenlong's fist (I also found one of those!) and stacking boosts to resource generators.
