I... have no words.

Otter, all game:  "Excal is scum!"
Alex:  "I agree that he's acting scummy, but we know scum were trying to lynch him, so I think he's town."
Otter:  "No you're just wrong!"
*Excal flips town*
Otter:  "See!  Alex's analysis couldn't possibly be right!  He must be scum and really knew Excal was town all along!"

Otter:  "Hay I'm gonna cheat for town."
Alex:  "I'm cool with that from a winning perspective, but cheating is bad!"
Otter:  "ALEX HATES TOWN!"

If you are town, Otter, you're playing worse than I could have imagined.  Not only are you trying to break the game, you're also forcing the issue to me and trying to guarantee that I get lynched afterwards.  You say there's no serious objections when nobody besides me has even posted.  I can't follow in your footsteps and request modkill myself because that'd put us in LYLO, so town gets to mislynch me and go to 3-man LYLO.  You're not even trying to help town after your death by looking at alternate cases.

Assuming that Cid allows Otter's request (which he really shouldn't - I feel bad for him about all these dropouts), either the game is over or Otter was (worst ever) townie.  So, in the latter case, if Otter is town, who is scum... my kneejerk is actually Corwin, for the way he's repeatedly brought up and bought into poor logic, and how he's associated with other people in the game so far.  Not too many ties to Sopko and Tom, nor too few, and he seems to have been taking the safe courses and coasting to endgame.  That's just off the top of my head, though.  Will have to reread everyone if Otter dies and is town.

People aren't posting and one of those few who do wants to be the fourth modkill. If we jumped the shark, there's no need to drag it out 72x2 more hours till the resolution.

Current votecount:

Otter (1): Sir Alex
Sir Alxes (1): Otter

Mod's note: I've decided not to grant Otter's request for a modkill. It's bending the rules in a way I feel is contradictory to the purpose of the game and it is not a precedent I wish to set. Please resolve the day in the traditional manner.

With 6 alive it takes 4 to lynch.

Oh bloody hell. This freaking blows, can't fault Cid's decision though.

Sorry for my disappearance, I'm visiting my mother and completely forgot that her computer can't log into the DL. Posting from the library now.

Otter, why didn't you ask Cid if this was possible before pulling this gambit?

##Vote Otter

I can't believe this didn't occur to me earlier. If you wanted to be modkilled, you didn't have to give Cid a choice. All it takes is quoting your PM, and boom, done. Finito. Easy as pie, and rather blatantly obvious after it's hapened a few times with this group already. But instead you asked. Why?

The simple explanation is because you didn't really want to be nuked, and knew in advance asking politely, especially after talking in public about how you wanted to use the modkill to cheat (and it's very obviously cheating, though protown if you really are innocent, which I doubt now), wouldn't be enough to make him pull the trigger.

Sorry for the lurking,I know its bad for town, but the computer dying on me has really set me back. I've been able to get on the internet maybe, twice in the last two days? I'm sorry I haven't`been around.

I honestly didn't think Otter was going to be scum, but Shale also brings up an excellent point about this. If Otter truly wants the MK, he should've just broken the rules. It's not hard to get the death if he so desired.

##Vote: Otter

with a FOS: Alex as well. There's not a whole lot to go off of today. Partly my fault for not posting much today, yes, I know. My old suspicions remain though.

Mod's note: *sigh* God damnit, Otter.

Otter, AKA Claude Debussy, 1862-1918 (Vanilla townie) was obliterated through sheer righteous indignation and I'm too pissed off to write up flavor text. Now, for the love of god, will you people lynch someone?

With 5 alive it takes 3 to lynch.

...

You know what one of the scariest things is?  An 18-wheeler with no lights on at 9pm at night, when it's dark.

...

Also, what the hell?  I get back after a crazy few days of things and...what?  Ok.  That is not something I would have ever expected Otter to do and...I...why was he goaded in to it?  Ugh.  Ok...10 hours left, with all of this happening, I'm not sure where to go in terms of scumminess - I think everyone here has been pretty good so far (and I didn't even suspect Otter!), but LaL, and such.

##Vote: Ryogo

I apologize if this is wrong, friend, but if it's not you, I'm not sure who it is.  My guess might be Shale, since it seemed like he was really goading Otter into the suicide and the rush, but...that's very close.

Well.

I was going to come in here and make a case on Corwin, but upon reread of his posts it mostly falls apart.  The most that I can bring against him is that he's been if anything a little *too* on the ball, addressing Sopko and Tom in the early game and putting himself heavily on Sopko day 3, and has bought into some poor logic regarding me.  (Though with that flip I suppose I can't blame him too much.  Otter for Worst. Townie.  Ever.)

So I'm pretty lost at this point.

Shale - Currently looking most townie thanks to his interactions with the flipped scum.
Corwin - Covered above.  Actually has pretty good play looking back on it thoroughly.
Ryogo - Me-tooism and a bullheaded pursuit of me because of day 1 actions.  Not good.  Despite that I'm not sure about him looking scummy.  Tom was playing pretty far above his normal level, where Ryogo's still making tons of what I'd call newbie mistakes.
OK - ??? Mystery.  Mostly hasn't shown up.  The things he has done have been going along with the crowd.

My best bets right now are Ryogo or OK.

Mod's note: In light of the awkward circumstances, I'm extending the deadline for twelve hours (yes, I know I said I wouldn't do this. Nor had I foreseen a situation this wacked-out coming to pass). This gives you all until 8:30 EST tomorrow. Hopefully that will be enough for you all to come to a decision.

Ugggg, Somehow, I knew Otter would do that...

Well OK, I honestly dont know who the hell the scum is. I'll say again, its not me. My suspicions have always been strong towards Alex. It's been more of a gut feeling as of late than to support with evidence though. I don't have much else to go off of. I can't pick anything out. Chalk it up to being a newb/you think I'm scum/I'm too dumb. Maybe Corwin or Shale for drawing almost no suspicion towards themselves, and OK for being like me and not posting a whole lot.

I don't have anything guys. If you feel the need to take me, I understand you. Looking back, yeah, it looks like I've been lurking. I still implore that I am town. Its been more of an access problem than anything else now.

Less than a day til lynch, I was going to vote for Alex, but I'll place a vote for OK instead, I doubt anyone else will go for Alex. If anyone sees this, at least wait 'til  sometime tomorrow to vote again for me, don't give the chance for scum to bandwagon. And I just had a brainstorm. If scum is OK, he's bulit himself a safe haven on the last day. By casting the first vote on someone who has a good chance of getting lynched anyways (That is, me), he avoids the suspicion of casting the second/final votes and getting accused of bandwagon-ing. ("I cast the first vote, how did I do that. YOU guys did the band wagoning! You're scum!")

It may seem like a OMGUS vote, but I was going to vote Alex first. I had a change of thought in the middle of posting, and it's really worrying me too. It's just a thought I wanted out there, especially since I'm expecting the land of CMT to come to Hildegarde tomorrow. I'm imploring you to not vote me... I am town, and it wont do you guys any good to take me out except to prove my claim.

It's sad that this kind of defeatists, surrender type behavior is the only thing preventing me from voting you. Unless you've decided to emulate the self-exploding townies, I don't know, too annoyed to care.

Voting someone you don't think it scummy instead of someone you think IS... and at a point where there's only one scum remaining, to boot. What will this achieve? OMGUS voting on OK. Wifom logic about the whole thing, in an attempt to prevent people from voting you. Explain all this.

Glaaaaaaaargh.

Couldn't get to a DL-capable computer until now; I'm posting from a friend's place, and probably won't be home by deadline. Sorry. Glad it didn't seem to screw anything up (more).

So. That was...yeah. Great idea, me. Way to call out the scum, me. For the second time in as many games, I thought I had something solid and it bit us all in the ass. Woo freakin' hoo.

First instinct is Lynch All Lurkers, which to me means OK and Ryogo. I could get behind lynching either of them today. Alex is also on the list, with suspicions from yesterday coming back in full force now that Otter's flipped, plus the added taint of having hounded a townie for that long. Corwin's play has been quite solid - he's pretty much the only person other than me I couldn't see myself voting for today, but I don't even have complete confidence in that. Dear God, what a mess.

I think Alex is the one with the bad logic, not myself. I also think he made puzzling choices so far, and maybe I've been too generous dismissing his tunnel vision as a pro-town trait. His kneejerk towards me or him clearing me afterwards don't really factor into this. Him picking the easier targets does.

LAL tempts, except I know I myself haven't been posting as much as previously after Otter started talking about suicide. It's just really hard to care, and I can't really blame other people for acting like that. Plus, aside from Alex, the rest haven't been around that much, so it's hard for me to pick among them. When 3/5th of the game qualify for LAL, I no longer see it as the preferred option. So who do I lynch? The one who seems the scummiest to me out of the surviving players. Quite a lot has been said about Alex over the course of the game and the rest of you should already have made your opinions about him, one way or the other. Here is mine.

##Vote: Alex

Ryogo is either pretending, very well, to be a newbie imitating the recent bad play on the part of town, or he is just that. Occam's razor + gut = the latter.
OK has looked better to me after I finally got him to participate enough. His vote for Ryogo is strange, but doesn't elevate my suspicions of him over Alex's
Shale has made some plays I really, really didn't like. But those are few and far between.

Going to bed now. Should we mislynch and I die afterwards, best of luck and win the game, even if some of you may not feel like it, guys. Modkills are fail.

##Vote: OK
at this point.  After sleeping on it and reading back more, his positions are... weird.  Very weird.  I can't really see anything that defends him.

In response to Corwin... I can't really blame folks for wanting to follow Otter but I hope you can all see how ridiculous his actions have been.  I've gone after the people who've looked scummiest to me, but I don't see how spinning that as "going after the easy targets" is either truthful or helpful.  The "easy target" day 3 would've been to stay on Excal - I chose to analyze the scum flip instead, which led me to turn around, defend him and look in other directions.  Whereupon I was hounded by Otter for NOT staying on the "obviously scummy" Excal.  So it's a no-win situation and I'm allegedly scummy either way, eh?

Ok, deadline approaching, Shale the only one not voting yet.

Roleclaim is the same as last time - Chopin, vanilla townie.  I am 1 vote from death, but I'm not going to kill myself or do anything like what just happened.

I am very, very uncertain of the remaining people - while Corwin has a point about Ryogo being...possibly all newness, there has been a good bit of lurking and echoing of opinions with him - this isn't good for him.  While yes, this could be something that just kind of pops up...he's the only person I'd call a lurker.

In case I am dead, my highest suspicions are the moment are:

Ryogo > Alex = Shale > Corwin > Myself

I feel good about Corwin, and know my own alignment.  Shale...the prodding was odd, and seemed very...off.  Almost like he was really trying to jump a lynch on Otter?  It's hard to look at that ,as many ways it could have gone.  Alex...I don't have strong opinions on, outside of I think he's played a solid game, and I don't have a huge suspect of him (a little less present than most games, but that's to be said of everyone).  Ryogo, I've said my stuff.

If the remaining scum is one of Shale, Alex or Corwin, you've played well.  I'm going to be around, so hopefully any discussion can happen that will happen - and hopefully we won't run into day 1 all over again.

Mod's note: Shale requested that I post the following for him, sent via AIM since he has limited internet access today. He actually sent the message several hours ago, but I missed it until now.

First Shale post:

Pallas Raithe: Anyhow, post follows:
Pallas Raithe: Alex Please point out what "very weird" positions OK has taken. "I can't really see anything that defends him" is very strong language, and I'm wondering where it was for the past few days when you were going after Otter.
Pallas Raithe: Also, the fact that you continue to say Otter was "the worst townie ever" for his tunnel vision going after someone who was acting scummy but flipped town, well, glass houses, stones, etc. The only difference between your play and his was that you used the flip to support yours, and I've already said what I thought of that evidence.
Obviously, you can still play like that and be town. *You* have, in the past. But attacking somebody else for doing what you're doing doesn't sit well.

Second post:

Pallas Raithe: Okay, I'm going to throw down a vote on Alex at this point. Suspicion over his unequivocal defense of Excal, plus suspicion of his tunnel-vision combined with going after someone for having tunnel vision, plus his unsupported vote on OK, plus his repeated statement that our (lack of) communication with the flipped scum clears the two of us. It just doesn't sit right. If I *were* scum, and had flipped instead of Sopko, then the same logic he;s using to clear me would serve just as well to clear Soppy.
##Vote SirAlex
Hopefully the Cid posts this in time for somebody to do something with it.

Finally, this:

Pallas Raithe: Also, if for whatever reason it comes down to deadline and there's no hammer on anyone, change my vote to OK.
Pallas Raithe: (I'm hoping people will be able to see my other posts before it comes to that, though.)

In light of the lateness of my posting this (lost track of time. Blame Front Mission 4), I'll allow a couple more hours for people to respond to Shale's points in case it changes anything (again raising the question of how many times will the Cid break the no extensions rule in one game, I know). If a majority vote has not been reached by that time, Shale's vote will switch to OK and hammer as requested.

Current votecount:

OblivionKnight (2): Ryogo, Sir Alex
Ryogo (1): OblivionKnight
Sir Alex (2): Corwin, Shale

With 5 alive it takes 3 to lynch.

There are 2 hours remaining.

Damn.  How close this has been.  Ok, is anyone here?  Besides me?

I would like Alex to answer these queries he's been posed.  If not...I will be putting my vote on him within 60 minutes or so (1000 EST - 2 hours from post would be deadline at 1030 EST).

Honestly, it sounds like whining, but this does seem like a somewhat odd case to jump to.  I know I am town - Alex has brought up as being questionable so far from everyone, mostly.  I don't suspect him, but I am town - I know my alignment, I don't know his.  At this juncture, I feel there might be more information to gleen from him than me.  Honestly, I'd rather nuke Ryogo, but it looks like we're not going that way.  Intent to hammer in 60 minutes.  Please talk if you are here.

OK:  Day 1 is on Keeshi for a bit (very early) then vanishes due to Comcast until very late, then jumps on Excal as the alternative to his own lynch.

Day 2, shows up, yells at Keeshi for the no lynch, gets on Excal again. (http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=673.msg13692#msg13692)
http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=673.msg13743#msg13743 - apologetics, lots of them
http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=673.msg13789#msg13789 - even more
http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=673.msg13792#msg13792 - even more.  Lots of defending himself from Corwin, pushing for love and peace.
http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=673.msg13809#msg13809 - case on Excal.  Keeshi's cop claim comes around here, and OK posts a few more times, having seen the claim... but keeps his vote on Excal(!!)

Day 3 he goes straight back to Excal and defends himself from Corwin even more.
http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=673.msg14118#msg14118 - this post I don't like.  It comes off as very wishy-washy on everything that isn't Excal.
http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=673.msg14178#msg14178 - Tom analysis.  Admits Excal isn't scummy, goes back to... having no opinion and no vote laid out.
http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=673.msg14286#msg14286 - comes out with vote on Sopko, but really doesn't even talk about Sopko much.  Reason for voting: "Of the two...Sopko calling out Corwin for lurking and misconstruing some data, as well as being a bit indecisive and non-committal is what gets it for me."  This is right in the middle of Otter vs me, and what I find odd is that he's voting Sopko with that little explanation and no attempt to persuade other people in a 3/3 votesplit late in the day.  He comes back later and announces intent to hammer.

And then... day 4.  Even more apologies for being gone, vote on Ryogo for lurking.  That's it.

I don't like his loner Sopko vote, constant excuses and apologies, and general lack of stances otherwise.  Being busy and gone is fine and all, but there's too much protest there for my book.

(Solid?  No.  Best I got right now?  Yeah.)

Present, requesting no hammer for ten minutes or so while I catch up on what was posted while I was on the highway.

So basically, its come to if OK doesn't nuke Alex, OK gets nuked himself. There, I can't really see his switching of a vote as much of a town move. Its more of survival (Which if he is town, is a town move. If scum, a scum move. Comes out neutral.) I can't say much else, other than whoever does go, I'll be very suspicious of the other.

EDIT: Ahh, Shale. Good to have you here! Let us know what your choice is. Time is of the essence!

I also find it weird that OK is 15 minutes late here... Worried to the extreme.
