I'm always interested to see how people move and change. I tend to stay in the same area on politicalcompass myself.

Your Political Compass
Economic Left/Right: 5.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.77

Closest (only?) person I'm next to on the chart is Milton Freedman which makes a lot of sense.

Same quadrant as before, but a bit more to the left than last time.  I'm right on top of Gandhi now.  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I'll proudly admit that the last year or so has just made me more of a radical anarchosocialist.

I've been leaning towards this as I grow older but recent events have shoved me here as well:

Economic Left/Right: -6.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.18

Further left on both than 2010, which is a bit surprising.  Didn't think on the social side there was really any room for that.  Economically also surprising because I work in an industry that has given me some respect for lending institutions and movement of money generally.  I would have thought that might push me to the right, but the opposite happened.

Your Political Compass

Economic Left/Right: -5.0
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.41

Pretty much unchanged. I hover around -4 and -5 on Economic depending, and pretty much -4.5 on Social.

The leftward shuffle on social issues continues apace.  Economics number is a little further right than 2010, but I'm not sure if that reflects a rightward movement as much as an increased caution on the test's less defined economic questions.  In the post-truth era, statements like "the freer the market, the freer the people" can mean totally different things depending on context and speaker: what exactly is a "freer" market?  So I found myself a lot less likely to pick the "strongly" options on those and often wished for a neutral/needs clarification option.

This is pretty much where I was 8 years ago (I've moved by like half a point from centre along both axes). That said I see less and less value in the right-wing parties of both Canada and the US though, which kinda proves the line that I'm not leaving them; they're leaving me.

GIANT CAVAET: I find aspects of the test's design to be questionable. The lack of nuance is incredibly bad because you general know which choice aligns in which direction, but incredibly poor wording makes it hard to swallow some of the questions. I answered using their wording, not the way I would have if the question was precisely worded. As such, my actual place is definitely to the left of this.

"Are people born unlucky?" in the religion section- Very Vague. You could say someone born into an oppressive situation is unlucky, but it's not that they themselves are unlucky. Is this a disagree or agree?

The one regarding people who can work, should work- This question is framed with a viewpoint baked right in. The way the question is written makes it perfectly natural to agree, but the question also doesn't paint a remotely accurate picture of how the system actually works. I would also say that people with lots of money who get lower tax rates on capital gains are the actually the group that this question accurately describes.

There are a bunch of other questions that I thought were flat out sloppy due to the lack of nuance. Does anyone think that Charles Manson could have been rehabilitated (regarding the question about whether the worst offenders can be rehabilitated)? I can't imagine that there would be much variation in the answer, so what was the question actually trying to determine?
...into the nightfall.

Agreed on the poor wording, indeed.  I said strongly yes to rehabilitation, though.  I'm optimistic regarding improvements in psychology and treatment methods.  I'm not a psychologist, but "oh, sociopathy is untreatable" just doesn't seem to fit with what I know of all the current models of personality and consciousness.  Can it be done practically, especially once someone's in a punitive prison system?  Probably not.  Could it be done theoretically?  I think so, and again, that's what their specific wording asks...

Yeah, a lot of us have been noting the poor quality of this test this time around.

I think specifically though the luck question works where it is. It's testing for a belief in a non-rational concept without directly asking something like "ARE YOU SPIRITUAL?" I suppose it does go along with part of the poor phrasing question- but if you don't believe in luck, you can't believe someone is/is born unlucky or lucky.

Changes: ENTJ to ISFJ. I guess aging graduate school, previous relationships, work experiences does that to you. I admit I am more a homebody these days, but I really do enjoy traveling/sight-seeing/always eating outdoors with alcohol and people watching. Okay. I'm old. The coolest thing? Me and Brienne are ISFJ buds. Snatched butch lezzie! (I think she's not a lesbian though but lesbians love her because)--- Robin Roberts, too!

New:
Economic Left/Right: -6.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.28

The patriarchal language, religious questions, anything involving women or homosexual agency and opportunities pissed me off way more than I thought. But it makes sense.
