Dhyer- really the only reason to go recruiting in SuikoTactics is because that raises the skill cap.  Though naturally it's an arbitrary and silly requirement as-is.  Of course, the biggest reason to fuss over your skill cap is getting Punishment Magic to A, which may or may not apply to most players (at A Double-Edged Sword has no charge time.)

Sadly, I didn't import S4 save data, because I deleted that...2 years ago. So no getting to see RoP in a non-fail version.

P3- Beat month 3. Boring month ending, especially compared to month 2's ending. Very disappointing. At least I can take Stupei out of the party with Mitsuru around, as he sucks and the main has MT Fire magic at the moment (And MT Ice soon!)
...into the nightfall.

FF3 - Started a replay of this, now that PW series is done. Was going to be FE but eh, felt like something else. Replaying a game with a job system = always a good move.

Anyway, going to be using the classes I used least first playthrough. Since I only have the Wind crystal so far, this translates to "not Warrior or Thief". Just beat Gutsco.

Monk - Suuuucks until getting all the Monk equips stuff, which takes until Tower of Owen for the second Sonic Knuckles. Then merely LVP, probably. I forget how Thief compared at this point. Warrior was clearly better though, and mages > fighters in general at this point anyway. Go go back row + physicals are about as good anyway (though Warrior cheats with advance) + magic damage being better.

White Wizard - Sucked until staves, then good. Cura is a life-saver, and the stats are notably better than Red Wizard. Staff item-use spam rules.

Red Wizard - Jack of all trades, definitely master of none though. Sluggish, weaker magic than the other two mages, weaker physical than Black Mage (what the fuck), but can do both their jobs and take hits better than either.

Black Wizard - Casts the spells that makes the peoples fall down. Best offence easily. Hell, best physical in my party most of the time, not that he used it much because itemcast staves are usually better anyway. (Eventually I just equipped him with staves for maximum magic beatdown anyway.) MVP obviously.

Medusa is a whore, Big Rat was also good, other bosses underwhelmed. First real dungeon was much easier this playthrough since I knew to mainly use bows. ^_^ bows. Too bad they're falling off now. However, soon I will be using Ranger ( ;_; ), so hopefully I'll see them pick up again!

Erwin Schrödinger will kill you like a cat in a box.
Maybe.

God Hand: Beaten.

Almost beat the final boss in one go, but he got me just as his health was down to one combo left.  Sad part? That would have been a win if I didn't use Home Run God instead of Crescent Kick (700 power instead of 900) like I wanted.  Took me about another 4 attempts to beat him.  Cute fight, only cause its one case where you WANT Demons to show up given how much they fail there (granted, makes sense plot wise!), and they always drop SOME power up; even a simple Cherry helps and such.  First go against him, the second Demon dropped a 2 Roulette Charge item, so that was nice.  The winning run, the second demon dropped a TP Recharge...when I was 80% to getting one level up (I had enough TP for 2 God Hands at max), so basically used it then, fought a little while, it was getting close...*TP Bar becomes Yellow, activates God Hand, beats him down, he falls into pummel mode while God Hand is still active, splattering commenced*

Anyway, the game is about as unforgiving as you can get.  Granted, no real penalties for dying (in some cases, you get rewarded, as dying = instant full health, and you ALWAYS start with at least 1 Roulette slot; if you have more, it just starts you off with as many as you got to the check point with, so yeah), barring the fact that you'll have to redo some stuff if you didn't hit a check point, so in the end its just a lot of trial and error (mostly error <_<; ) until you eventually win.

Plot scenes were a riot.  Gene...take the humor side of Yuri, and make a character based entirely around that.  God Hand's plot lacks anything in the way of seriousness 90% of the time, so this works.  Olivia...a bitch who can pull a hatchet out at any given moment.  Though, I must say, nice how they portrayed her relationship with Gene as more of "two siblings who don't really get along AT ALL, but work together regardless" instead of a love interest.  A love story wouldn't really fit God Hand, so yeah, glad hey went that route, also cause it leads to more silliness.  Elvis...is Elvis.  Shannon...ah...Crazed Nympho.  Old Man was a total lamer, ditto to Devil Hand, but I guess you need SOME seriousness in there for foil of the silliness.  Just about every single sub boss, despite each having at most two scenes, were great always amusing (be it a PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING GORILLA reading a newspaper while waiting for a bus (or did he just get off of it? either way, it definitely involves a bus <_<), to the Power Midget Five (yes, that's exactly what it sounds like; Midget Power Rangers) to master swordsmen who is making a dramatic entrance out of a random door from nowhere...but manages to trip over the door frame anyway...yeah...)

Why did I analyze the God Hand cast? I don't know.  But they're generally hilarious either way!  The scenes are worth seeing in some manner (I take it the LP shows them <_<?)

One way to look at it? Take Devil May Cry 3, but then realize you can never become nearly as stylish or over the top as that game, so everything you take out of style, you shove into the humor department.  That's God Hand's scenes.

As far as a game play comparison? Take Final Fight, make it 3D, give some character customization, add in a Devil Trigger-like aspect, and make the game harder, and it only gets EVEN HARDER if you're good at the game...and you have GOd Hand.  So really, its like Final Fight with a shit load of steroids pumped into it, and a slight dose of DMC <_<.

Overall, fun game.  7/10 material? Something like that.  No, its not another Devil May Cry 3, but its still fun enough.

Edit: Elfboy, as far as Thief's worth in the early game?
Its pretty bad there too.  Damage is completely lacking, though his durability isn't bad (gets a lot of the same equips Warrior does), and gets free weapons, which is an incentive to using him (plus how raising a Thief pays off once he starts getting good stuff in Amur and after, but you saw that first hand <_<.)  Just thought I'd remind you or something.

Ar Tonelico: Started this up last night. Wow, they don't waste any time before establishing Lyner as a total blockhead. Have I mentioned before that I hate this kind of character? "Damn logic, my fighting spirit will overcome all obstacles!" The girls better be cool enough to make enduring his stupidity worth it, you guys.

Also, I have to laugh at Shurelia's character art. Mostly the "breastplate." Not to mention Radolf having a six-pack sculpted into his armor. Ahahaha.

Lyner is epic stupid, yes. And the girls should probably make up for it to you, Cid.

Mana Khemia:

Up to C7. The game is a lot of fun. The plot is inoffensive and mostly doesn't exist, the characters are cliche and not too deep, but enjoyable and charming in their own way. Music is enjoyable but not jaw-droppingly awesome (coming with a soundtrack CD is cool, just wish it hat more on it). The combat system is made of win, gold, and awesome. Its pretty much the logical evolution from what Atelier Iris 3 had.

Characters all have unique skillsets but are customizable by putting common skills onto weapons and armor (from elemental magic to status to healing... but they are limited to 1 per equip and 4 equips a PC so its balanced). The unique skills are learned via the Grow Book, which each character has for him/herself with their own abilities/stats. As you make items, new points in the Grow book become available for purchase. The abilities/stats are purchased via using the AP that a character accumulates in battle (read, XP). You generally have enough AP so unless you run from battles like a pansy you won't have to worry about that.

And why would you run from battle? The combat system is fun. Speed is handled via a cool card turn order display that shows empty spaces, so kind of like Grandia's bar but with cards. This is delightfully manipulatable too, since there are moves that will effect based on positioning on this or create timed cards that act several more times after the original.

You have six slots in your party, three front line and three support. The front liners start out fighting as per normal, while the support stays in the back regenerating health/SP. Whenever you attack or are targeted by an attack, you have the option of activating a support. If attacking, the supporting character will jump in and deal a tiny bit of additional damage, and then be swapped in. If support is used while being attacked, the character being brought from support will come in and take the hit for the one being attacked. You can also opt to switch a character in the front row for a support character and let that support character act immediately. Whenever someone moves from the front row to support, they have to wait a short time before they can come out. In a nice little addition, having your front row killed just brings out any support PCs you have instead of giving you a game-over. Are you paying attention FF12!?

The game strongly encourages the use of Support. SP restoration items are few and far between and largely ineffective. Combo this with good skills costing a great deal and you get a serious SP issue for the front row fighters. So swapping is pretty much a must for long fights or dungeon treks. It also matters because enemies don't *completely* suck. This is like a first for Gust games, or at least a return to semi-competence from Atelier Iris 1. And thats assuming you be a good little alchemist and go home at night. If you've got the audacity to walk around and fight at night, you're in for some edge-of-your-seat fights from sub-bosses and bosses. Its a lot of fun.

So NEB may want to play the series before 7!

Had to shorten the name a bit for the character limit, but it still works. Now I'm heading back to non-reaper missions to build up some other partners and work on making Jonin.

So, ACF. I did some more sidequesting today because OK bugged me about it. Beat the Adult Mags, which killed me once when I was a few hundred HP short of the required MT damage but fried the next time around, the Egregori team (status whores), who tried to physically attack Great Boostered Rudy and ate an Inertia Cancel->Arc Nova...and then I ran into the optional boss fight against the Sadas quintet - basically, four minions that use OHKO suicide attacks, and one boss that revives one minion every turn. Kill the minions quick, then hammer on the boss; Simple strategy, but the thing had staying power, and eventually ran me out of Arc Novas and Quick Draws for crowd control, leaving me kind of on the ropes. Then it killed Rudy, leaving me more so. In desperation, I have Emma ready an Alchemic Bomb on the pair of living minions, and Great Boostered Jack uses a basic physical on the boss. The physical does 600 damage. I wince. The boss dies. I laugh.

FF7: Started this up again for the umpteenth time!  Yes, its ENTIRELY Crisis Core's fault.  All I can say is Cloud seems like an ESPECIALLY large douche after Zack; its funny cause the way Cloud acts is nothing like Zack, despite how Cloud somewhat emulates his life after Zack.

Whatever, that aside, figured I'd make this play through useful, and actually use Vincent the entire way through to get Damage Figures with Death Penalty under a more generous Interpretation for the DL.  No, not saying its standard, but I figured "Kills = How Many are required to get all limits for Vincent" is a bit low.

Also will probably get End Disc 1 damage figures, for the sake of Aeris damage scaling, if I didn't do this already (I honestly can't remember.)

Lastly, Cloud is named "Newcomer" and Barret has been named "Boomstick."  Why?  Cause Cloud is first referenced in game as "Newcomer" by Barret (as in, right before the fight where he's called "Ex-Soldier"), and Barret...well, blame CK for that name <_<

Persona 3- Beat...Month 4, I think it is. Again, giant let down as it took the same basic scenario of month 2 (Shadows trap you), but then removed any tension or sense of foreboding. I really hope they didn't blow it all on month 2, because that would be kind of sad. Also, at least one social link is out of th way! Next I'll aim for that annoying kid who is dating a teacher.

Uh, maybe I should start posting in here again.

Phoenix Wright games of various sorts.  On PW4 now.  Dialogue is win, trial gameplay is usually fun, but investigations can go die in a ditch.

Mana Khemia - Doing a forced bosses at night run.  Much more fun this way.  Too bad plot bosses don't get the double stats boost.

Platinum Puni - Almost OHKOs!  Other than that, not too bad unless you run out of SP before getting to it.  I skipped randoms so I didn't have that problem.

C1 boss: Lore Beast - A joke.  I guess Quick might be scary under some circumstances?  Meh.

Beast Gang - Boring~

C2 boss: Roxis - lol

Puni Gang - Cute, but still boring~

Yulawnie - EVIL.  Has OHKO damage, and the timed card skill is solid 2HKO... three times.  Also durable enough that straight blitzing doesn't work too well either.

Caterpirider - Also has OHKO!  And support!  And if you kill the support he gets a chance to counter with said OHKO damage!  A nasty fight, to be sure, and I actually game overed once here.

Fallen Lover - MT SP bust spam!  Only attacked once outside of that though...

Stone Watcher - MT 2HKO with Knockback off of good speed?  Naaaaasty.  Ended up twinking HP and just blitzing him.

Dark Bringer - Actually not all that bad.

C4 boss 1 - Easy.

C4 boss 2 - Also easy, but having only two people, neither being a healer, makes this a bit more tough than the previous.

Stone Emperor - Had to fight it three times due to killing it too fast.  Ended up untwinking offense and spamming physicals during Burst for more hits.

Armed Brownie - Deals 380 damage to a ~160 HP average.  RANK.  Mostly just need to come in with Nectars and whittle him down.

Fairy Trio - They're fairies.  There's even three of them.  Healing Echo is annoying but Purifying > that.

Guardian Forces - Back to lol....

C5 boss - Also easy.  Didn't even charge up Flare Ray that time...

Fire Emblem 9 - Up to Chapter 10.  Prettier and more polished and better gameplay than the other FE games, it looks so far.  Still FE though.

Well, yeah. The game stopped pretending otherwise a couple hours in when I invented a sleep-inducing item and Misha implied to Lyner that it could be used as a date-rape drug. (Lyner, naturally, doesn't get it).

Mana Khemia:

In short:

It is awesome. Play it.

In long:

Minor early game spoilers. If you haven't played it, be warned.

I'm up to the start of chapter 4. The game's pretty good all around, save for the characters(Vayne is so limpid I wonder if it's some sort of plot thing. Then again, he has a few things about him that don't make sense. Sulphur in particular makes me blink.) besides Jessica. Jessica's pure awesome. She's a cute pyro jailbird that has a demonic backpack? Awesome. I don't really care much about Nikki or Flay, and it's too early to say on Pamela.

The battle system's solid. It's a CTB with a few fun twists, which helps it stand out as not yet another insipid FFX clone. Multiple action moves, charges and the burst meter all amuse me. The enemies aren't much so far, but they're good at attrition since you have rather limited resources. The AP system is passable - you can get a lot rather easily so far. It feels like it's designed to allow minimal fighting should you so wish. Considering how levelling up is done, this makes sense. AS for the leveling up? I have to admit the concept fits the word and atmosphere perfectly. I do wish it was a little more open or not entirely tied to it - It feels too handcuffed. This is a pretty minor complaint.

Music's okay, though the real winner is the atmosphere. It really feels like a rich boarding high school from top to bottom. The entire island is designed around that and they pull it off with amazing skill. Bravo.

I downloaded the original TMNT for my Wii. Man, this game is weird compared to the 3475 TMNT games that followed it. Still, a nice change though.
