MMZXA: Started this up.  Got to this water Boss that resembles Kyogre a bit and was doing well until he beat me near the end.  Bah, now I have to redo that whole area *Shakes fist*

Demon's Crest: Got back to this game, decided to go for an ending that wasn't the worst!

Anyway, got the Buster, then went and grabbed Air Form and Water Form.  Air Form is cool, Water Form is lame barring the fact that its needed in underwater dungeons.

...reminds me of Models Hx and Lx in MMZX, except that the Hx equivalent isn't quite as awesome (though still fun), and the Lx equivalent is more "you must use this or you die!" rather than "Completely rocks with its niche!" and its still kind of blech.

Crazy.  My roommates just started playing that game.

HL2 - A good deal of the way through Highway 17.  Loving this game more and more.  Gravity gun is awesome.

Portal:  I suck at the advanced maps.  ;_;  Wish there was more GLaDOS commentary, but hey.  I'll settle for excellent puzzle gameplay.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I FUCKING HATE THAT BOSS SO MUCH IT'S SO FUCKING RANDOM IT TOOK ME LONGER THAN VOLKMIRE'S INFERNO FOR CRYING OUT FUCKING LOUD.

The ending is totally worth it though.  ::)

Now, to forget this game ever existed.

Edit-Oh yeah, before I forget. After you beat the boss and she does the usual 'flipping upside down and hitting the stage' death animation, she rises up again in the middle of the stage to get to the position in the screenshot. If you get hit by her you end up spam-locked to death. Guess how I found that out?

Weak Trips.  You will have to download it again so you can Shift+Delete it and bypass the recycle bin.

I will have to throw at a big fat MEH to taking another mage (or Suzu lewl) in place of Mint for freaking randoms.  Waste of TP.

Grandia 3: Just beat Violetta. Man, she's got some crazy damage reduction or something, and if you give her the scythe she's a darn good Godlike. Randoms are back to normal, in that they're not easy, but not too difficult. Levels are 44 Ryu5 (huggles Lucky Book burning), 41 Bitey/NeoElfgirl/DDahna.

Looking at the picture, I'm sure Q-bert could totally pwn her.

P3:  Just took my midterms, think I did okay.  Couldn't get my academics to level 3 beforehand like I wanted.  Akihiko just joined to help me with second block randoms.  It's like the game says "Fuck you!" at this point.  Mudo spamming randoms, randoms with OHKO damge *when you HAVE DEFENSE UP*, and randoms with just too many freaking HP.

DDR Supernova 2:  My kid got this for Christmas, and surprisingly, Captain K. has mad dance skillz.  Can't do it for long before my body reminds me that I am an UOM.

Actually, that's just her posing before the endgame text. The pyramid doesn't have anything to do with actual fighting. Q*Bert would still kick her ass though, but that's just because it's Q*Bert.

Also, Second Block is when the game takes the kid gloves off. You should probably start working on having a Persona for every elemental weakness, if you haven't already, and spend a couple days each month until you feel more confident. Don't worry too much about the test, too. That's the hardest one to get Academics up for, as long as you study every day and donate at the shrine daily as well you shouldn't have any trouble having high enough Academics for all the other tests.

Tales of Destiny 2: Beat the game. The last dungeon was shorter than I thought, but that's a good thing. I lost once to the last boss due to mashing the buttons instead of holding them down during the boss' final attack. Barring me forgetting what I was supposed to do, the elemental bosses were more threatening. Anyway, more about the game as a whole.

Fighting was fun. Compared to the ToD, the addition of attack strings and the defend button helped a lot in improving combat. Spells also works much better, even low levels spells are reliable and the high level spells don't cause more than a minimum of pause. As a result, there was a sense of coordination between spellcasting and physical attacks. On the minus side though, the techs fealt less flexible. I remember that I in ToD used on tech slot for a tech that could hit all enemies and that way disrupt their spellcasting, on slot for pushing enemies back, one for plain damage dealing and I think I found a purpose for the last slot as well. In ToD 2, it was less using the right tech for the right situation and more stick to the one that has the best combination of keeping the enemies stunned and dealing damage. All things considered though, combat flowed much better in ToD 2.

Combat still could have been much better though. There was a lot of features that could have done with more support. The attack string -> skill -> sacred skill combo gave no noticeable damage boost for either of the skills as opposed to using them separately which made it less useful than it should have been. Early in the game when TP management was an issue, there was always the "get the most bang for the TP" argument, but as TP management became easier, I just stuck to skill -> sacred skill and eventually just went for the sacred skill directly.

This brings me to the next point, TP management. Early in game I only had the orange gels and I had a hard time getting the TP to last through a dungeon. As the game progressed, restoring TP became just easier and easier until eventually I could spam the most expensive skills with impunity. Combat worked the best while I wasn't under a direct threat of running out of TP replenishers, but still couldn't just spam the most expensive skills carelessly. Being able to do so overshadowed a lot of other strategies.

The plot was ok, but hardly great. It did have some neat moments though and was relative trainwreck free. Sure, it did occasionally include some less well handled things such as king douchebag sudenly sobbering up suspiciously fast and the rather pointless "it wasn't person X, who we haven't meet before, who did it, it was person Y, who we also haven't meet before" plot-twist, but I had no major WTF moments.

I liked the playable cast. They fealt rather well balanced, they have great interaction with each other and there was a sense of mutual dependency within the couples. The villain cast is very weak though, but it isn't as if ToP or ToD had an impressive villain cast either.

Reid is surprisingly unadventurous, a bit simple minded and also a bit of a doormat. I find him the least interesting of the main four, but he still interacts well with the other characters, doesn't annoy me and his development from the unvilling adventurer who Farah drags along to the determined defender of Eternia fealt natural and is trainwreck free.

Farah is of the reckless adventurous do-gooder type, like Justin, but she does show quite some common sense when she doesn't see someone she thinks is in immediate need of help and also seem to be aware of that her behavior is less than perfect, unlike Justin. I think she is the kind and reckless adventurer done right.

Meredy works well as the cute and mysterious girl. I don't know what else to say about other than that she interacts well with the other characters and yada, yada. I cannot recall ever hearing an explanation to why she refers to herself in third person, but I guess that's supposed to make her more cute or something.

Keele did quite a good job at being intelligent. His difficulty in communicating with others and expressing himself was pulled of really well. He managed to surprise me once when he left the party seemingly in order to pursue his dream, that in a situation where it was obvious to me that he would not be able to realize his dream like that, but later it turned out that he instead went to do a very good and awesome thing.

Now, I'm very unimpressed by how Infernia looks once you can traverse the waters. The feeling I get is that someone just painted a few green isles here and there and didn't have time or energy to add details. I think it's the same deal with Celestia, but the desolate feeling matches Celestia's atmosphere much better. BTW, it's not a big deal, but why the heck are the celestians the dark skinned ones seeing as Celestia is the cooler of the worlds? Maybe I should instead have asked how the planets managed to be both round and have each other as heaven as well.

Overall, I really like this game. it has some great strengts and the flaws are more of the unused potential type than game degrading type.

Finally getting around to finishing a couple replays. Well, almost.

FFT: Deep Dungeon! Yeah, it was fun (with the exception of the exit being randomly placed on every map. That was idiotic). My 10-brave chemist is now the highest-levelled PC since she was required for every map (Move-Find Item). So much awesome loot in there. Wish I could actually use it on something that would put up a fight! Oh well, I'll just have to settle for grinding Altmia into dust as usual. Just more violently, I guess. Elidibs was really only made a hassle by me having to maneuver around him to reach the treasure before killing him. Granted, Zodiac's damage is scary. But my chemist, at least, only has 3 faith and is functionally magic immune--she took 34 damage when everyone else was getting overkilled. So he could never flatten the entire party at once. He's also slow, so you usually have time to move most of the party out of the way. Poison Frog could've been an issue had he used it more than once. His support doesn't even bear mentioning. So yeah, would've been nasty as a maingame fight, but not too much trouble with the equipment of brokenness.

Suikoden: Argh, S1 money-grinding is so bloody tedious. Man, I wish I was playing via emulator so I could abuse the dice game. If there were handy macros like PSIV has, I'm convinced I would be able to do the fighting while unconscious (Tir: cast Hell. Everyone else: Defend). I was very close to being asleep last time I went cash-farming for weapon upgrades, so I'm sure it would be possible! Just a few more of the S2 transfers to go and I'll knock this thing out already. Not much more impressed with the game than I was the first time through. I remain amused at the compactness of the game's storytelling (108 character in eighteen hours? Yowza. Some of the major story events work better than I'd remembered, but the game's still fairly mediocre.

Cave Story: Finally beat Ballos. Yay!

Original Generation Gaiden: Beat Mission 14, better known as Infinite Cash Works. 240-odd kills, 350,000 monies, and buckets of PP for Tasuku, Ryoto, Irm, Viletta, Excellen, Kai, Mai and Rishu. Fun map, even though it takes forever.

Phoenix Wright 1: Finished. Sigh at only 4 days of playtime ._.
On the whole it was generally easy (too easy?) except for the times when it got vague as I said before. Only gameovered once and that was when they pulled the rug out from under me by having a dastardly question that auto-loses you if you give the wrong answer.

A bit too much plot-losing for my liking. Also Gant is awesome. I have to get the sequel sometime if I can find it.

Suikoden II the Card Game: Is steadily getting more annoying. Enemy decks are getting better at a rate far outpacing my own, and there's no way of grinding for money or cards as far as I know. Currently they've been having a love of War missions which I don't have a lot of cards good at, and they keep uniquing out the ones I do have. Attempting to beat them at their own game by trying to beat a lot of Strength missions quickly isn't really working out for me and I seem to be relying a fair bit on luck (which isn't really favouring me currently). It doesn't help that they seem to be consistently having to win less missions than I do to win currently either.
In any case I'm up to after beating Seed near Tworiver or thereabouts.

P3 - Fuuka joined.  Getting the hang of fusion now.  Looks like you can get damn near any skills you want on a Persona if you take your time with it.  Got several social links up to 5+.  Academics still refuses to go to level 3.  I shudder to think how long it will take to get it to level 5.

Also made my wife listen to the whole soundtrack in the car.   ;D

Actually, lots of Personas can only inherit a certain element.  Like Personas with fire attacks tend to only be able to inherit fire attacks and not any other elemental attacks.  Besides elemental skills, I think you can get pretty much any skill you want on them, yeah.

Also lots of times they're stubborn about learning skills so it takes alot of pressing the cancel button. Makes some of Elizabeth's stuff annoying.

I think the earlier you choose the persona in the fusion, the better chance of its skills showing up.  Not sure, but it seemed that way to me.

Unfortunately this helps not at all for special fusions.

Damn right they were.

Beat Bioshock a few days ago. I'll gather my thoughts about the game as a whole and post them in a little while, when I'm less lazy.

Started a hard mode NG+ DDS2 playthrough today. Midway through the second dungeon. Dunno how far I'll get before I'm tired of it/need to do actual work. Still a fun game, though.

Rhapsody: Beat it. The game was awesome until shortly after the prince got kindnapped, then things slowed down. Dungeons got longer and the amount of story between the dungeons decreased. Considering that combat in Rhapsody is trash and the game relies on hillarious dialogues, that was hardly the best move. Oh well, the game was very short anyway, so it's not that bad.

SRW Original Generation Gaiden - Finished stage 31. Dear god the game hands too many insanely powerful units to you. I've stopped using the SRX in favor of having more launch slots for stuff like the Excellence duo and DEAR GOD FOLKA. Folka is way too freaking powerful after his upgrade, to the point of making every other boss fighter I have look bad, AND he is horribly efficient and tearing apart random grunts. I think only Kouta really beats him there, with the whole spammable 5800~ power ALL attack.

Still, having a lot of fun with the game, and it's definitely a worthy successor to OGs.

I got Phoenix Wright 2 for my birthday, huzzah~

So I got stuck on the third testimony on the first day of case two. Four gameovers in I got sick of listening to all their babble over and over so I saved before the crossexamination and just started using each piece of likely evidence on every sentence. Then when I find what the correct response is I get aggravated because I swear I had already tried that in my initial attempt so I'd never tried it again -_- Bah humbug. Up to the save point after that in any case.

Metroid Prime III is as great as I had hoped. My hands don't care much for the Wii controls, however... although it does take a lot longer to get them in pain than Prime Hunters' controls or playstation controllers in general do.
Up to after getting the Ice Missiles. I missed some scans in the elevator if you know what I mean so I'm not going to be 100%ing on scans this playthrough. Out of interest, can someone please tell me that this game doesn't have any completely stupid scans like in Hunters where the one boss type has two different scans depending on what it's doing when you scan it?

Bah at them restricting some purchasables to people with friends -_-

Suikocards: Conveniently, after complaining that there was nowhere to grind, it gives me a place to do that. It seems that very few of the current cards purchasable are worth buying anyway, though.
Seed in the Cave of the Wind is a god damned tool. My current most powerful cards are Jowy (of which I have 1) and Seed (of which I have 1), both on 5 power. CotW Seed's whole gameplan revolves around using incessant numbers of Duel missions, where you each choose a unit and the one with the highest power wins... and he has several copies of each of SomeOctopus (7 power), Luca (6 power), Jowy (5), Seed (5)... I'm pretty sure he had more of 5 power+ but those are all I can remember off the top of my head. ANYWAY, the 'best' outcome I can get from this is to draw one of his 5 power ones with either my Jowy or Seed in which case the mission is a draw, but then I lose my Jowy/Seed which is the only one I have while he still has more copies. It's highly aggravating. I did end up beating him anyway by getting a lot of lucky drawing combined with 2-point missions, and he didn't even give me another Seed card -_- Did give me another Nanami, but she's only 3 power anyway and is only vaguely useful because you can use her straight after Jowy or Riou.

ToPr - Gnome and Efreet down, Undine to go.

Rogue Galaxy - This is silly but passes the time.  It is very console style MMO attempt (different than FFXII but kind of similar), feels like PSO if they had focussed on making it Single Player really.  Up to chapter 4.

20 or so hours into Wild ARMs 5. Not much to say so far, since I've been pretty much blitzing it with no time for reflection, though Sword Medium + King's Crown on Dean Leads to lots of Double Critical pain. Rebecca with Luck Medium just for massive turn number and Hit rate fun, Carol as healer, Avril blasts things, Greg is the tank, and Chuck... is kinda just there.

Villains are antihype worthy, mostly, though at least Nightburn looks good. Cameos are vaguely entertaining: Jet on an epic journey for a can of peaches was pretty much the highlight, I think, though Zed is awesome by default.

P3 - Summer break.  A cute dog with wings just joined our fighting group.  And the dog has better stats than the combat robot.

Speaking of the robot, she has something called Orgy Mode.  Did I mention that I love this game?

I love this game.

Nearly all of the bosses have only one logbook scan, but can be scanned in all of their different attack phases to get tips on what to do.  One boss is a creature + rider, both are logbook scans.

And then there's exactly one boss (the third of the elevator riders) that has around 8 different form changes, and every single one is a logbook scan.  Very irritating, especially since she's a dangerous fight but can be easily cheesed to death if you're not going for the scans.
