SRW@2 - Beaten! Man, Xer was right about Ganeden. She is mildly dangerous! ... until she runs out of EN, which takes less than a turn with the godly 50 EN cost on Follow The Sun, which she loves spamming whenever she can. Then, she turns into a 500k HP punching bag. Pretty sad.

Anyhow, typical SRW goodness with sexy squad system makes for a happy Snow. The system itself is great, and character balance, -for once-, turned out really well. I was using practically everybody by the end, and there was a sort of niche for practically everybody as well. Some better than others, but even the fodder has a reason to exist. Which is nice. The polish issues on the system were slightly annoying, though (a unit is removed from a squad when it dies in battle, forcing you to manually put it back in? You're forced to deploy event units as a lone squad that can't be modified? Fail). Those bring the game down some. However, it's still pretty enjoyable. Fun SRPG gameplay with a sexy deployment system that's surprisingly different from your average SRPG, which shakes things up nicely. I think it's a low 8/10? Around that area.

Unit evaluations! Divided by squad leaders, fodder comment only if I care enough about the rest of the squad.

Kusuha/Bullet (Chokijin) - Broken. Broken. Brooooooooooooooooooooooken. Kusuha's starter mech, the Ryujinki, is a friggin' endgame machine that they hand to you as a starter. Good bases, good sniping, good Ps, good finisher, solid durability - no real flaws to speak of, and Kusuha is a fine pilot. Then, she gets the Ryukooh and Bullet in the midgame and suddenly she turns into a monster with an overkill power finisher, a wonderful ALL and a second pilot! Then, her special skillset gives her freaking 45 SP Love, and Bullet gets all the PP Kusuha collected before he joined, and... yeeeeeeeeeah. Just insane.

Kouji (Mazinkaiser) - Mazinger Z was eeeeeeeeeh, but was worth keeping for Kouji's development, since he's an utterly badass pilot. Very basic unit: Kouji squad leader, Sayaka for HP regen fodder, Boss for EN Regen fodder and Brain Powerd fodder with Accel for mobility and Chakra Shield. Worked well, if not terribly impressive for most of the game. Then, suddenly it's Mazinkaiser and Kouji makes thing EXPLODE with that 1-3 5000 base P ALL off Kouji's insane melee and Mazin Power. Oh, and absolutely never dies. You can say a lot of stuff about Mazinger Z, but durable (partly thanks to Kouji's badass leader bonus) it is. Then, when Mazinkaiser, with its brilliant Armor/HP combo, kicks in, you can kiss the idea of killing it ever goodbye. I think Ganeden was lucky that she could even 10HKO Mazinkaiser by then.

Shingo (Goshogun) - Interesting niche. Sniper Super Robot with three pilots, solid weaponry and mostly averagish Super Robot stats. Fun to play with, and it's a rare niche to boot, but Goshogun became really badass when it got GoFlasher Special. That attack+the equipment glitch makes for fun times. Insanely long-ranged ALL with three S Ranks and nearly 5k base power for the sexy.

Kincaid (Crossbone Gundam 1) - I'm a complete pirate mech fangirl. Kincaid is a really interesting pilot in that he's your typical solid high-tier Newtype pilot... only he specializes in melee. Seriously, his melee stat is Kouji-level good. But very few Real mechs have anything resembling acceptable melee attacks. X1... caaaaaaaaaaan have those, but it's weird. Without the cape, it utterly sucks at most offense-related things, but has a nice finisher. With the cape, it's actually great at random-busting, but the finisher is not there. It at least has nice mobility stats either way, though. Then, in the lategame, the X1 gets Screw Whip and suddenly capeless X1 is feasible. I went overboard, though. Maxing the X1's weaponry gave me a death machine that was only outdamaged by Kusuha, and that Haro turned him into an utter mobility god. For his squad, I had Puru and Voltes V for ALL/Zeal abuse, helping both the lack of ALLs in the X1 and essentially tripling his offense for one turn. Not bad.

Amuro (Hi-Nu Gundam) - FIN FUNNEL DESTROYS WORLDS. Until Amuro got it, though, he madly hopped through various mechs so he could keep up. With his absolutely insane stats, Amuro can salvage nearly any machine, and brings up decentish ones as well, though, so this wasn't a problem. However, the Hi-Nu made everything worthwhile. Fin Funnel was serviceable against bosses, and, against randoms, it just made things explode. Spammable 4200 base power ALLs with S Ranks (105 Will? You're -kidding-.) just rule. Oh, and gamebest practical evasion to boot. Man, Amuro, you're a beast.

Gai Shishio (Star GaoGaiGar) - Picked up lategame, too. Was always a serviceable, but unspecial cannon until Star GaoGaiGar kicked in, then it became one of my best offensive dynamos. Not much to say.

Kazuya (Daimos) - Awesome Super type. Kazuya is a very good pilot, with good SP, nice skills and above par melee. The Daimos itself is an oddity, being premier twink bait (it can both tank and dodge competently, which is great) with awesome Ps and very competent finishers, but lacking in ALLs. To fix this, I set Trowa of the two long-range ALLs as my secondary leader, and it worked wonders, making the Daimos squad one of my most versatile. Kazuya's offense was always a boon, and I can't say no to free 2-4 3300 base P attacks for randombusting. When Viletta became available, I slapped her in the unit and Kazuya turned downright immortal. Fun stuff.

Haman (Qubeley) - Mostly grunt-slaying with surprisingly high-powered gruntkilling offense due to her squad leader bonus. Noin hype incarnate does fun things in this squad. I set Combattler V as a secondary leader for when I wanted boss offense, since the Qubeley's not geared toward boss-killing at all. Not bad.

Judau (Full Armor ZZ Gundam) - Very versatile. Judau is a solid pilot, but the ZZ Gundam makes him. 2-4 P ALL with solid power and an actual finisher to work off really kick ass, and the ZZ Gundam's stats stopped sucking in @2. When he got the Hi-Mega Cannon Full Power and FAZZ, things just went ballistic. Kicking ass at both gruntslaying and bossmurdering is very valuable. Also never, ever died. >_>

Yuu and Hime (Nelly Brain and Hime Brain) - Spam Chakra Extension all day, never get hit, spam Bless and Cheer, repeat. Simplistic, but goddamn if it wasn't retardedly effective. Chakra Extension is sick and wrong, and a 5k base ALL, even if a combo, should never be this easily available nor as early as it was.

Vera (Mother Vanguard) - EVASION GOD BATTLESHIP MOTHERFUCK YES. The weaponry isn't too special, although spammable long-range ALL off Vera's Ranged stat works very nicely. Ultimate randomslaying battleship that destroys worlds, always very solid otherwise. Also, overkill accuracy. What the fuck, battleships hitting and dodging.

Bright (Ra Kallium) - Nukes things. Dead. Doesn't do a lot else! But it's damned good at nuking. And that's good enough.

Kamille (Nu Gundam HWS) - Randombuster. High-quality one, too! Kinda underwhelmed against bosses in the end, though. And dear god, the Zeta Gundam drags him down until the HWS.

Banjo (Daitarn 3) - Yum, boss-killing and a good P. Also, gobs of durability with 10k BASE HP and solid defensive stats and skills. Great slugger, but lacking in ALLs.

Heero (Zero Wing Custom) - SPAM TWIN BUSTER RIFLE FOR GREAT JUSTICE, ZERO CUSTOM. What a freaking badass ALL, it alone made Heero my Top Ace. Not all that much other than good stats besides that! But Twin Buster Rifle destroys worlds. So evil.

Tetsuya (Great Mazinger) - Limited boss-killing, but very good against grunts and durable. Used his squad more for the fodder I had in it (Jun has Hope!) than himself. >_>

Ryouma (Shin Getter) - Man, for a unit I actually found notable, figures that I would forget to list it. Anyhow, you know how brokenly good at damage a Getter can be when you have the other two pilots (who, by a quirk of the machine, can buy PP skills) pumped up on SP Regen and SP Up? And when you have a Hope whore (Miwa) in their squad? Yeah. The offense is absolutely nuts and the Shin Getter 1 actually deals well with randoms, unlike AG Shin Getter, whose ass felt horrendously frail with very little to mitigate that. In @2, the squad system works wonders to make it a lot more durable, and it feels like its defensive stats are better, too. Was one of my top-three offensive mechs in @2. Very satisfying.

Koh (GP-03 Dendrobium) - Um, wow. Versatile mech. Koh is an oddity, though: his base stats are pretty damned badass, and his spirit set is fine, but his pilot skills are utter trash. Doesn't even get Newtype levels. Granted, this works for the GP-03, since nothing ever runs off NT for it. So, I have an evasive 8000 HP mech with a strong high-range ALL and a solid melee finisher, who carries a bunch of support fodder for general utility purposes (Elle made a fine Bless/Cheer whore, and she also got Daunt). Nothing overwhelming, but certainly worked for what it was.

Anyhow, that was that. Notable fodder units were the Purus: Zeal+awesome stats made them great secondary leaders, and invaluable squad fodder as well. All Resupply fodder units were nice, too, and Gundam Wing Katoki for Noin hype incarnate. Yes. Fun stuff.

The World Ends with You - Joshua Day 5.  I can't figure out how the hell the scratching pins work.

Mostly useless outside Discharge and Earth Quake, so you can just don't bother or something.

TotA: Beat Nebilim! ....on Normal. Hard just kicked my ass all over the place and I gave in. Still a good fight and took a few tries, in part because I'm not good enough at getting spellcasters out of the way of magic. Ah well. Got Tutti, will wrap up the sidequest, grind for Grade, and finish Van over the weekend. As far as replay bonuses go, I want to keep Cores and AD Skills along with the cheap stuff like battle stats, tech uses, titles and key items, but that's probably more Grade than I've got.

The World Ends with You - Got up to day 7!  Day 6 boss was freaking annoying on Hard at L1.  Managed to pull it through though.  And apparently scratching must be horizontal or something?  I dunno.  I can do the tremor one consistently now so I guess it doesn't matter.

Oh, and got some of those shout pins.  THE MICROPHONE IS THE WORST FUCKING ADDITION TO A PORTABLE QUIT FUCKING USING IT YOU FUCKING RETARDS.  That is all.

Persona 3:

Owns my soul. The character designs are cool, the plot is similar to MK in that its more about groups of people growing together, and the gameplay is fun and addictive. I've never been huge on grinding for Persona/DDS Mantras/whatever, but adding in the Social Link feature makes it more than just making new toys for combat that you don't really need.

Only thing I'll say now is that the AI works very well. Heals when it needs to, tries to smack weakness/use whatever deals the most damage. It actually streamlines combat instead of feeling like a nuisance.

GTA4...

Is approximately 1000 times better than GTA:SA, because it removed almost all of San Andreas' new features. I am having a lot of trouble murdering three dudes in a titty bar, though. The way the strippers are armed, you'd think this was a Rudy Ray Moore movie (Dolemite, motherfucker!)

DQ8: Finished the Dark World stuff. Gemon killed me once. Mostly bad luck: he started out with a desperate attack and overkilled Angelo the first turn. Laaame. Zing refused to work and Guv's ST healing wasn't enough to stay afloat. Pretty easy the second time, though.

Anyway, flying mode got! Time to loot whatever's left on the world map. Apparently that island in the lake on the eastern continent give you battles with gold golems every time. Nice. Will need the cash for those shiny Tryan Gully equips.

Hey, it's a good fight! Just.. not due to Wagner, who really doesn't have enough offense there. Wagner 2 has the offense, just zero staying power. (Seriously, make sure Elsa and Bosch have their evade up for that fight, he can really shred them)

FM4- Zenith Wanzer gotten for Darill, who now has 600 extra power. Dear GOD will his melee attack hurt.

Wouldn't say it was a good fight. It was -long-, but baiting enemies in steady, short waves worked wonders. The linking can be annoying, but I was never really in danger due to people liking to go after Bosch of the 53% evade and Elsa of the 46% evade and rip-you-to-shreds dual machinegun action. Once I got to Wagner, all that was left was menial cleanup duty, and he fell pretty fast.

I thought that fight was pretty well setup to show the kinds of things you are facing, pretty normal army mostly.  Wagner 2 is where you start running into the serious loopy made scientist shit and his damage in that fight is insane, while he is weak IIRC his evade can be infuriating when coupled with the damage.

Assassin's Creed - Predictions held out, the gameplay fluff was the best part of the game, running around on rooftops and stabbing people in the face.  Assassination missions were vaguely interesting but always boil down to the same thing.  The final missions suck though.  You go to kill the last guy, hear a chick's voice as they spring a trap, so you sword fight 10 guys instead of assassinating someone then SHOCK YOU REMOVE THE HELMET AND IT IS A WOMAN AND WAS A TRAP!  MEH at that.  Plot is stupid anyway.  Okay, find out where the guy is go to assassinate him.  Okay you assassinate him by SWORD FIGHTING THROUGH WAVE AFTER WAVE OF GUYS.  Get up to him and King Richard, have a chat with them blah blah he is going to betray the King, so the King tells you all to suck a dick and he will let God sort it out through trial by combat.  Queue what MUST be a Men in Tights reference (or plot writers not being consulted by level designers) because your trial by combat is you against the big bad and his guards.  While King Richard just watches you butcher in total about 20 of his men in front of him.  Ignoring the ones you butchered to get to him (It must end up being you kill 60-80 of his men by the end).

Then MORE SHOCK!  Your mentor betrayed you and was also a Templar but wanted to keep the treasure for himself (I am still trying to work out what the fuck they would have to be thinking.  The motivation is retarded adn the whole thing is just an short sighted OMG PLOT TWIST!  that doesn't have any coherent backing to it.

So queue final boss fight.... which involves just sword fighting again, they even manage to tie in sword fighting 9 guys at time into the boss fight.  Twice.

Still a fun game though.

So I finished that and went on to finish No More Heroes - The final boss fight of the game is fucking bullshit and can suck a big fat dick.  So can the level really, not cause it is bullshit but just because it is boring with the bike stuff and the sword fighting stuff was a bit meh at that point.  They should have stuck with mooks with no health.  So the fake ending is kind of funny.  Did the real ending, better boss fight than the proper final.  Easier but a lot less bullshit.  The ending sequence was just perfect for the game.

It is comlpetely and totally silly and nonsense, but the game admits that and the whole thing is just awesomel.

I highly reccomend No More Heroes to anyone with even the slightest inclination for video game art fag in them.

Ah, GTA4. I finally unlocked the last island, which in turn unlocks one of the most important features of the game...

The talk radio station hosted by Lazlow. I was distraught when he didn't have his own station, as he is and will always be pretty much the best part of a GTA game's music... AND HE JUST TALKS.

TF2:  So the Medic achievements and Gold Rush are finally out.  Gold Rush is pretty awesome.  I love the Payload victory condition and the 3rd map is simply awesome.  I can't wait for there to be custom maps using this style of gameplay.  I might be the only one, but a Warpath or Lazytown Payload map would be sick, I think.  Dustbowl, too.

Got 21 of the medic achievements; well, I got 5 of them, and Statutory Grape has been playing obsessively and got the rest.  The new needlegun is pretty cool, especially given how useless the original was.  It's no bonesaw, for sure, but it makes getting away from enemies when your partner bites it ten times easier.  This gun is probably the only reason why we have the 10,000 healing in one life achievement.

Came close to getting First Do No Harm on Warpath, but the Heavy I was using for points beat me out by 2 bloody points.  Fuck that.

TWEWY:  Beat Daisen-BWAAAAHHH!!!'s chapter.  Boss was easy but had way too many hitpoints.

Final pin setup was Ice Risers, Innocence Beam, Macrocosmic Pull, Healing Bunny, Handsfree Healing (useless), and some lightning thing I was leveling up.

Played the whole game on Normal difficulty - no Easy, no Hard.  Most bosses were competent.  I usually had to retry at least once and occasionally go back and change my setup.

Overall I give the game a 7/10.  Severe lack of polish mars an otherwise fresh concept.  Might give it an 8 if the aftergame is enjoyable.

Black Citadel is the effective Final Dungeon, so yes.  Mind, the final boss is actually not there.  After Black Citadel, you have a bit of a scare moment where they more or less go "FETCH QUEST!" but it turns out to be pretty tame (just go to various parts of the world, inspect a spot, move on.  You'll know where to go if you so much have been paying attention <_<.  I think there's a minor dungeon revisit in the mix, but its so short and easy you won't care)  Final Boss occurs right after this quest.

Fire Emblem 9 - Got back to this.  Finished mission 10!  Nephenee is awesome.  Totally owned the boss in mission 11... and then I get fucked in the ass when I had a 99.6% chance or so of getting through that.  Fuck you, game.  This wouldn't be bad if it didn't make me just do the same last 30+ minutes over again, but that's all it does.

Wagner 2 has gamebest boss damage. I was fucking stunned when I refought him last week, that machine gun's power is unreal. Yet he can be soloed by Elsa and Bosch if only because of links and evasion, he's not durable and you get a nice weapon upgrade for him.

I love the Payload victory condition and the 3rd map is simply awesome.  I can't wait for there to be custom maps using this style of gameplay.
Umm...there have been custom payload maps since BEFORE Gold Rush came out.  (A few cow escort missions and a few random mine cart escort missions).  Granted, none of them have the dispenser-on-a-cart trick that Gold Rush does.

The new needlegun is pretty cool, especially given how useless the original was.  It's no bonesaw, for sure, but it makes getting away from enemies when your partner bites it ten times easier.
Err...old needlegun >>>>>>>>>>>>>> old bonesaw, for the record.  Significantly more damage at point blank.  Has range (and actually not much damage dropoff, so you could beat shotguns and the like from medium range).  The needle arc sometimes made it possible to kill sentries on the other side of low walls.

Though yes, new needlegun > old needlegun.

Anyhow, 36/36 achievements myself.  Got ~25 on the first night (a bunch of my friends got together to achievement grind), and picked up the rest one-by-one over the next few days (the final one requiring me to get dominated 20 times, which was proving surprisngly problematic.  Not that I never get dominated or anything--in fact getting dominated isn't too uncommon for me on some servers, it just refused to happen much the last couple of days).

On the other weapons, my initial reaction was that new medigun << old medigun, though I'm not sure anymore.  I have a good 200 hours with the old medigun, and a lot of uber habbits with it no longer apply, whereas I've sometimes accidentally gotten excellent results with the Critzcrieg.  I'm going to spend some time with it just to learn the new tricks and see if I can get more consistent results out of it.

New bonesaw is a massive upgrade, of course.  Take weapon with no real use at all.  Replace it with one of the top 10 most relevant weapons in the game.

JC2- I've not had much time and haven't really ran into any real bosses for a while now (Plenty of generic crappy bosses though).
Faced Nam for the third time, he was as craptasic as ever but managed to be even more so this time. His trash talk seemed to upset Kahu who unleashed his inner demon! By doing this he goes from weak kid who hides behind meatshields to a 10xPCHP and OHKO beast.
Yeah, Nam got battered again.

As for quests I've been mostly just being attacked randomly by people who want me dead to save the sweet knights/want my tail/think I'm Nam/think I'm a demon/want my fairy, hell the list goes on.
The Kalma are also becoming much tougher and overall more scary. The stronger ones seem to be able to speak words like Kill, Fool and die. This implies they are becoming more like the humans they are trying to imitate which is bad news for the world.

TWEWY: Got to the top of Pork City. Go to secret boss. He 2HKOs my entire life bar on easy. What the heck. Not sure what I'm supposed to do. Trying at the moment to do all the offense with my partner and evade with Neku, but the margin for error is ridiculous.

EDIT: Did some pin hunting, a mimic of Niu's "Super long invinci-frame" setup got me a win on Easy, at least. Used Lefty Cat/Righty Cat/Brainy Cat/ Carcin/ Splish Splash Barrier/Blown Kiss. Working on Hard at the moment. May need to do some more ridiculous food grinding for attack power.

FM4- Unlocked Durandal Sim 14. It looks.. actually pretty reasonable. Only problem is that you start the map split up. A bunch of high tier enemies but you don't have to protect anything, and you at least aren 't too terribly far apart.

15-20 enemies it looks like.Going to be a slog.
