Eternal Poison:
End of the third Stratum of Thage's run. Thus far the game has boiled down to... "have everyone chip at enemies while Thage SMASHES them to overkilled bits ripe for capturing". Tends to work pretty well, although it leaves Thage brutally overlevelled. This sometimes bothers me, but then she goes and does something like 480 damage to a boss who has 600 HP and an overkill threshold of 200. Enemies almost all tend to be weak to either Darkness or Fire and its easy to give her a few other elements to abuse her Int score with. Raki is pretty cool because he has mobility + good damage + durability. Retica... heals. And the generics just do their jobs in terms of healing and chipping and capturing.

Plot? What plot? The character dynamics are intriguing but not much else is really there.

PB - Man, this game is like they decided to turn pillow fights into SRPG gameplay and made EVERYTHING into an equip. Even if it's not terribly deep, picking up your still alive enemies and bludgeoning other enemies with them is highly entertaining.

Puzzle Quest: In the middle of rebuilding Sartek. The gameplay, despite the frue cheating AI, is still fun, but I kinda wish you had a better way to avoid map encounters since they're absolutely everywhere~

Cryo, you fail to mention something Thage's route only, the various jokes in her route. If you drag the battle very long in battle, the trio'll start acting out of character and spitting out stupid jokes one anime genres here and there. Some are totally hilarious, like Raki going YuGiOh in Queen Dharia's stage or Thage's misinterpretation on puberty on Deus Phosa's stage.

DQ4: Completed Chapter 6.  The final time on my completed file is exactly 30 hours after credits, amusingly. Completed the monster book as well, though I opted not to save my 300K casino tokens.

PC Psaro is a no-brainer for gamebest PC when you get him, but the higher level requirements for some of higher end skills holds him back somewhat.  I just barely hit level 38 on him after the seventh round of Foo Yung/Chow Mein, barely enough for Kazing.  At this point he's still missing Metal Slash, Kathwack, Thin Air, Disruptive Wave, Puff!, Lightning Storm, and Magic Burst.  Lightning Storm would've been a welcome upgrade over the heavily resisted Kaboom and the weaken-against-many-targets Harvest Moon for MT damage, but I lived just fine without it.

I had a couple of runs of FY/CM screwed up by Rock Throw+Fire Breath thing OHKOing half my team, plus one case where a confused Kiryl repeatedly cast Fullheal on Foo Yung (ARGH), but Sands of Time fixed those.  Giving that to Alena really helped a lot.

Aamon had some really big damage moves, including an ITD physical on the last form and some hugely damaging breaths, but he almost never doubleacted so he didn't press enough of a threat to overcome my healing (the Yiggdrasill leaf stock for when Kiryl died didn't hurt, admittedly).  Magic Burst did ~300 to everyone, but the turn he took to heal afterwards meant it really was easily healed off.  Solo was pressed into service as a healer mainly, since he had Omniheal and the Meteorite Bracer, while Alena and Oomped Pisaro did the bulk of the damage.  Kiryl's main job was to put up Kabuff whenever Aamon dispelled it (which was pretty often) and chipped in with damage and healing when he could.  Insulate would've been very nice, but I suspect Meena would get killed way too often for it to be worth the trouble, since you don't have wagon access for the fight.

Very good game overall.  I enjoyed the chapter mechanism, the interface is polished (only took what, 12 tries? <_<), enemy power is reasonably balanced overall.  AI not being forced raises the game from one of the worst in the series without cheat codes to one of the best.

Naxx-25 is getting rocked. I have to say, I'm not enjoying the 25-man version as much. Things seem less signficant when we have three backup tanks to step up if I go down, which won't happen because we have five people dumping heals JUST on me.

P4: So, the June dungeon is...a...ahahaha, I love this game. Anyway, Radiohead was easy; came in with about 16 SP left on the main character, thinking I'd get my ass whooped but at least know the element setup, and the battle wound up being a joke (never thought I'd say that about a P4 boss). Next boss was a grind, but at least had the decency to telegraph all the nasty moves. Made the fight a manageable, if lengthy, chipfest. Both bosses get mad props for being some of the freakiest designs I've seen in a long time.

Random notes for today

-The boss music deserves hype. Must club Super with this.

-First maxed link! Sun. Picked mostly because the drama club girl is cute. Yes, the MC got his mack on.

-I have to wonder how the Dojimas haven't died of food poisoining yet. Probably 75% of my Courage boosts come from eating the spoiled food in their fridge.

I'd recommend just FAQing some of those Request, myself.  That said, Chie has the proper item for the snack girl.

Nah. I like finding things on my own. That said, where does Chie actually hang out? I never see her for some reason. I've started her S. Link, so I'd assume there's a regular place you'd find her just like everyone else.

God of War: Finished!

As I played this game, I couldn't help but constantly compare it to Devil May Cry games, most in particular DMC1.  Why DMC1?  Cause DMC3 is not really a fair comparison, as saying "you did something worse the DMC3!" is like saying "You're a worse main character than SHC's Yuri Hyuga!"

First off, the game is stylish, I'll grant that, but it also takes the graphicness a bit too high.  I don't mind blood and gore, but it seemed like they decided to show scenes of people getting butchered just for the sake of more of it.  This is contrast to DMC where their means of being stylish usually involves explosions or impossible acrobatic stunts.

Fights...weren't as engaging.  For starters, they were easier.  God of War enemies are more durable than DMC enemies (at least on Normal for both), but they're also not as aggressive and easier to read.  Also hit nowhere near as hard either.  There's also this issue that you can be tying up an enemy...yet they somehow break out of it despite being in a flinch animation; not cool!  Don't get me wrong; fights weren't bad!  I'm just saying that it was an obvious step down compared to DMC1.  Magic was a neat touch, I'll grant, and Devil Trigger Rage of the Gods was nice and broken, but you ended up using it all of three times the entire game since it takes a while to charge, and...

Well, that leads to my next point; bosses.  THIS GAME HAS 3 BOSSES.  The first one is the Hydra, second is the Minotaur, 3rd is the final boss sequence.  I was looking forward to boss fights after the Hydra cause they were different, quirky, and generally, Bosses are where Action Games are at their peak.  DMC1 did like to recycle bosses *shakes fist at Nightmare*, but at least it had them.  Phantom was a cruel first boss, but a good introduction to "This game doesn't pull punches!", Nelo Angelo had style, Griffon...ok, he sucks.  You fight each like 3 times, but they did improve them.  Also, in general, DMC1 had A LOT more enemies, by which I mean the variety of enemies was much higher.  God of War, you mostly just fight upgrades of previous things.  Like in the Path to Hades, everything there is just EVIL LAVA VERSION!!!! of things you fought.  It led to more repetitive fights.  DMC1 wasn't afraid of reusing older enemies, but then tossing new stuff at you as the game goes on.  Granted, Shadows = ;_;, but then, DMC1 in general is a much harder game.

GoW did have a neat sort of plot and setting, I'll grant.  As a fan of Greek Mythology, nice to see their unique take on it.  Its nice seeing a fictional setting also treat Hades as something *NOT* a villain, just the Lord of the Dead *punts Disney for that*; heck, he even gives you the totally unfair Army of Hades spell which just wins.  The plot of "Spartan trying to repent, but he's still a total douche"...no, its not amazing, but its better than a lot of action game plots...which says something...
Nice touch in the ending showing all those wars throughout time, on that note.

Now, GoW doing things worse than DMC1 in general isn't necessarily a bad thing, just sort of stands out, but...what does hurt GoW a lot compared to the DMC series in general?

Platforming and Puzzles.  DMC series platforming can be summed up as "jump across a few platforms, if you fail, start over; you lost 5 seconds of your life."  God of War? They have as much platforming, relative tot he game's length, as something like Mario 64, with constantly jumping across gaps THAT CAN KILL YOU, no less.  Puzzles are just time wasters.  Blocking shoving that takes a while, and is not particularly fun, yay!  DMC1 Puzzle is "Find Object, find place to put object, new path opens up"; basically, they existed to force an order of exploration.  GoW had those too, and those I don't mind, since its just a way ot avoiding making a dungeon linear, and forcing you to back track, explore, etc.  They're fine, if a slight gameplay divergence, they're short lived.  The block puzzles get tedious and repetitive.

Also, Rope fights and climbing.  Climbing up isn't too bad when there are no enemies, since you can shortcut...but when their enemies, it takes a while since you really want to kill all of them to progress. Climbing down, meanwhile, takes forever, which is annoying. Killing isn't hard, but takes a while.  same for the Rope Fights, except change "Want" to "MUST."  The fights here require no thought, its just "use throw command, kill."    The straight up fights are fine, guys, STICK TO THOSE!  Don't give me these half assed battle sequences.

End result is? GoW feels very averagish.  Its...very much DMC-lite with a few aspects that DMC specifically avoided, that detracted from the game play.  Game was fun enough at times, but frustrating at others, so they cancel out.  No clue if the later installments in the series improved upon any of this, any oppinions on whether I should look into playing them?

...and all this comparison to DMC makes me want to play DMC1 or DMC3 now <_<

SBCG4AP - 8-Bit Is Enough:
Good end to the season. Not awesome by any stretch of the imagination, but it had plenty of fun moments.
Only saw one glitch this time! And it wasn't even something that perpetuated itself like in the last couple games. The game did completely crash at one point though so I guess the rest of the glitches merged into that; hooray for autosave.

Doesn't really seem to be much of anything new to do in the aftergame that I've seen so far aside from the Trogdor game, which is quite a step down for the series in general and especially so after the last episode's. They don't seem to have stepped down the ludicrousness of the secrets however so I'm not even going to bother with them.

Endless Frontier:
Just did the Level 3 area in the Mighty Era. Hooray, the moustache of doom won't be bothering me any more (possibly).
The worst component of the game, I believe, is how nearly every boss is placed such that by the time you can see it, you can't do anything preparatory/etc because you've already gone into automove before they were on the screen. The most flagrant example is in the underwater place that I forget the name of; halfway down a corridor, Bonny and Clyde saunter up behind you and you have to fight them. So after that, you continue down the corridor but after a turn at the end suddently you're in automove and have to fight Red & Blue. Directly behind THEM is a door. Eying it suspiciously I backtracked and saved before entering. BAM moustache of doom directly inside. Massively. Annoying. They've toned it down a bit lately at least; most of the bosses in Folmitheim you could see before you reached a temporary point of no return, except Cardia and Telos (possibly also the egyptian cat that I forget the name of).

Also the complete arbitrariness of forced evasion makes me a sad person. Especially when it triggers when you're not even attacking the enemy. Understanding this is something I don't do.

Yes, this game is addictive. I'm score running earlier songs because Caged Heat on Sweatin' is a goddamned pain in the ass.

Stacatto beats that you can barely hear because of DS crappy sound output is awesome fun hey.

Plus the gameplay only matches said beats about half the time, so even if you do get into the flow of the song you're still going to fuck up. Woo, rote memorization!

On the plus side, I'm up to four perfects (out of 12 songs cleared) on Sweatin', so that's good.

This only occurs if your combo breaks and you drop the enemy to ground. It'll never occur on a first hit, thus as long as your attacks connect, it'll not happen.
