FF3: Gutsco kicked my ass with his doubleacting, mini spamming, and brutal physical vs mini'd PCs. Level grinding now.

Fire Emblem 6: Started and now Beaten on Normal mode. Far too lazy to play Hard mode, as I had enough resets on Normal.

Lilina destroyed worlds when she wasn't the direct cause of my resets.

MVP? Probably Alan, the Cavalier I picked at random at the beginning of the game. Don't know how good Lance is, but I assume they are interchangeable.

I went the route that included Elphin and Yuno, so I missed out on a few split-path PCs, but otherwise I managed to recruit everyone and keep the alive (though I definitely could have sacrificed a few of the annoying buggers).

It was fun seeing the kids of the FE7 characters, and it was extremely hard to think about the game as being released -before- FE7. I can sort of see why FE7 went the route it did with its story after playing FE6. Due to not touching on FE6's plot too heavily, FE7 managed to avoid many gaping plotholes, which was nice - though I would have still preferred a focused prequel.

To avoid another 7-page FIRE EMBLEM PLOT discussion by making a potentially erroneous claim about the quality of FE6's plot, I'll just say that I liked it, Zephiel in particular. And Hector's awesome beard.

I'm a little curious how the ending plays out if you choose a non-Lilina bride for Roy (Thany, Sue, or... Sophia, I think?)

Actually meeting Niime makes all of Canas' FE7 supports more hilarious in hindsight... also a little sad consider how young he died.

Also, FE7 seems to hint that Canas and Nino are related, so by extension Ray, Lou, Hugh, and Niime would all be related?

Ugh, FE6/7 family trees - is there a list somewhere?

Alan and Lance are approximately equally good, though they're even better if used together, as they have an awesome support that grants them +3 atk and +15 evade. I'm pretty sure Lance has spent time on the top of FE6 tier lists (the thought being that higher starting speed makes him sliiightly better I guess, but Alan's Strength makes it a good contest), so yeah, they rule, and Alan being MVP isn't too surprising.

Quick question, do they ever state ALL of the eight legends from FE7?

Also, I know that some of the games are canonically related. Are they all? Those charts are pretty boss by the way.

Persona 4: Up to the boss of 8-Bit Castle. Then got beat in the most frustrating battle ever. Unfortunately, since I'm back home for the Holidays at this point, so that means no P4 for me. When I'm a bit less tired, I'll do a spoiler summary of my opinions thus far.

Also, I know that some of the games are canonically related. Are they all? Those charts are pretty boss by the way.

They feature all 8 of them (at least their names and related weapons) in FE6. However, they show up a bit more in-person in FE7.

The site Bardiche linked to has a list of all of them if you're interested. It also lists all the Legendary heroes from all the OTHER FE games, too. Really nice information site. I wish there was one like it for the Wild ARMS series.

The FE games aren't -all- canonically linked as far as I can tell, though they could conceivably all take place on the same planet given enough time passing between each of them, as some people speculate for the FF series.

Arguably, the FE games are more linked, due to having similar physics and wildlife (Pegasi come to mind) in each game.

Though, obviously FE1-3, FE6/7, and FE9/10 are linked to eachother directly. I don't know anything about FE4 or 5, but Niu just mentioned that they are linked to FE1-3. FE8 doesn't seem to link to anything. What a shame.

First 5 FEs are related.

FF fighter that is Nomura ARPG in disguise-

Golbez crushes in-fighters, never expected this. Really sluggish though, his dodging really sucks. But still crushed Cloud and Tidus with relative ease, this is how much in-fighters hate him.

Also, Kuja vs. Ulty, the boringest battler of the century. It basically ends up like this: If Kuja use Ultima first, Ulty snipes with Shockwave Pulser, Kuja dies. If Ulty use Shockwave Pulser first, Kuja snipes her with Ultima, Kuja wins. A fight that involves nothing but waiting for the other to attack first.

FF3 DS: Just got out of the Amur Sewers.

Level grinded from 15 to 18 for Gutsco; this time, he rarely used Mini, so his physicals were a lot more managable. Salamander wasn't too bad since I had lots of Ice damage. Kraken killed me the first time despite taking tons of damage; his offense is just evil. Second time around I got Shadow Flare, which ripped off over 5000 damage.

Job evaluation, to date:

Black Mage- MVP up until the Fire Crystal. Early on, Bows let it keep up on physical damage while it nukes bosses well. Later, it pretty much outdamaged everything except maybe Advance with just the itemcast staves and -ara levels spells murdered bosses. The itemcasts have faded for value now, but then I've also stopped using the class.

Warrior- Advance is very much worth it. Solid damage dealer from the start, but absolutely brutal after getting Royal Sword+Blood Sword; it OHKOs almost every random while healing good amounts of HP to boot.

Thief- LVP of the classes I've used throughout the game. The physical is... passable, but nothing more, and Steal has been close to worthless to date.

Red Mage- Physical started off solid and slowly progressed to sub-itemcasts. The tankiness with two shields is very nice though, and thus far it has enough MP charges to last through a dungeon. We'll see how long that lasts, before I'm forced to switch to White Mage. I'm pondering the feasibility of using WM to get through a dungeon, then swapping into Red Mage just in time for the boss for extra tankiness.

Geomancer- Everything is insane hax except Whirlpool, which sucks massively. Makes for a nice progressing from Black Mage, since you get it just when BM starts waning.

Scholar- Used one for Hein's Castle only, and it was pretty disappointing. The MP sucks compared to even RM, and the physical's not good enough even now to really impress. More importantly, Study was a bust vs Hein himself; he kept changing his weakness before I had a chance to take advantage of it with anything. In the end, my Geomancer did about 60-65% of the damage while Warrior contributed almost all the rest.

I believe I explained it already. "You try to attack someone but Maxi gets in to some dumb stance that doesn't let him turn to face the enemy" sums it up nicely.

Which means you're not one with the Maxi-Fu.  I think I have around a 70-75% win rate with Maxi against a foe where I hover around 40-45% with every other character.  There's definatly people I would never use him against.  But there's definatly a pattern to his random posing that can be offsetting because no one else has it.

FF fighter that is Nomura ARPG in disguise-

Golbez for the win, the teleport zap is a bit too broken. Despite not being my best character, that move made him my favorite though.

P4: Will the real villain please stand up? Oh, they just did. Yeah, I'm at the seriously final frue ultimate no really dungeon. Did some grinding to get everyone their final skills before refighting the Eye, which it turns out was kind of unnecessary since there's still one full-fledged dungeon left, but hey. Maybe I'll just skip the randoms and knock this thing out already. Granted, that's not happening until Friday since holidayness happens very soon.

Eternal Poison:

Finished Olifen's route. Mostly fun stuff. Gameplaywise it felt a bit harder than Thage's route, which I can't really explain. You'd think Thage's frailty would make it harder, but her magic immunity proved more useful I suppose. Olifen got enemy mage-sniped two or three times. Other than that Marie tore stuff apart and Olifen was shockingly competent at physicals towards the end there. Dual Attack for the freaking win.

Plotwise it was a decent story about Olifen growing to assume the mantle of a leader. I'm a little disappointed that Marie was the character they chose to give no real focus on characterwise. Olifen had his coming of age story, Logue had his curse, and Levatte had a fair bit of exposition on his story. The pretty one gets left out? For shame. But in all seriousness, the cast was interesting and worked well together.

DL?
Olifen: Low Heavy. Fast physical bruiser but nothing else really.

Logue: Middle. Mdurability isn't terribly great. Status isn't that owning.

Levatte: Middle. Some status and healing. It works.

Marie: Middle. Fire magic smash, and Bleed status is a good one to have backing you up. No healing bites though, and she isn't magic immune like Thage is.

I'll give the game a break for a while

Because Bowie sucks and, in my hands, controls like a semi without a steering wheel.  Besides, like I said, Maxi has proven use against certain types of players, which makes him far better than you were making him out to be.

Phantasy Star ZERO: Hit L68. Very Hard/Super Hard difficulty is Super Hard. :| Fortunately, it's WiFi only at the moment. Dark Force is now a complete and total pansy in both Normal and Hard difficulties >_> Dealing ~200 damage per hit is obscene for this game against bosses. I dunno why it is that high given freaking RANDOMS are more annoying than Dark Force >_>;;

Phantom Brave: Just beat Walnut, I'm sure that's not the last time I see him considering super's hype of him <.<

Game is weird so far, that is all I'll say.

Wild ARMs XF: So I'm bored at work cause there's nothing to do given the store is gonna be gone by Saturday, and the managers don't give a shit, so I figure I might as well bring my PSP and start this up.  Just finished the 3rd map!

Current thoughts?  Way too early to make any sort of judgment.

Dissidia: Finally got the Pandora Battery, so yeah, no other games exist for me now <.< >.> (nah, I'll probably try and play Phantom Brave just to get that out of the way or something.)

Beat Tidus' story arc, and I'm going in reverse order, so Zidane's next!  Unlocked Jecht and Cloud of Darkness cause Hatbot said I should.  Thoughts on the 12 I've used!

WoL: He's generic and boring.  Not bad! Just...generic.

Firion: A character who relies entirely on Scorpion's GET OVER HERE strategy.  Somehow it works too.

Onion Knight: FAST! Hits a lot!  A bit awkward on HP attacks.

Cloud of Darkness: Definitely not a beginner character; the DMC bases behind her makes her interesting, but yeah, someone you have to seriously put effort into to get the full use out of her.  She seems decent if actually trained with.

Cecil: Weird.  Dark Knight seems kind of crappy, considering its slow and can't do shit for Aerial, though guess he's good if you know exactly how to use him, where as Paladin is pretty good.  Paladin sucks on ground, though, its a lot easier to force aerial combat than ground based combat (...if you're not Firion, who can sit back and force the enemy to come to them, so he gets around this flaw), and his general quickness makes him much easier to use.

Bartz: HE. SPINS. TOO. MUCH.  Seriously, half of his openning moves involve spinning, and his combos usually involve some spin too.  He's a bit weird to use as a result; he seems like he'd be a lot of fun once he gets his other moves, what with stealing moves from other characters.

Terra: ^_^

Cloud: Knocks things around and does it well.  They weren't kidding when they said he's good at causing Break Status.

Squall: Heel Crash is a bit weird, and frankly, he needs a better HP attack since Aerial Circle and Fated Circle (I'm guessing that's the ground one) are a pain to hit with.  His basic ground combo does some nice damage though, and he's not bad on speed.

Zidane: If you're attacked by him, you're going aireborne.  HP Attacks are a bit unintuitive, but he's good at keeping pressure on so he can sneak in the needed move unexpectedly.

Tidus: Runs all over the place hitting things.  His Blitz Ball attacks give him some actual range, and SPiral Cut isn't bad once you learn how to use it; pity about Energy Rain.

Jecht: Not. For. Beginners.  Now, I've seen videos and I know he can be an absolute beast if used properly, but that's the thing; using him properly is not easy.  He's easily the hardest character to use of the 12 I have so far.

Unsure who I'll unlock next.  Probably play Zidane's story first though.

And yes, I'm enjoying this game a lot.  Was worried at first given the game was really weird, but once you get past the "get use to the game" stage, its a lot of fun.  That, and choosing Bartz against Cloud on level 5/9 CPU for my first fight wasn't a smart move (go figure, I choose the HARDEST OF THE INITIAL 10 and probably weakest based off his initial set as the first character...or more accurately, Hatbot did <.<)
