FE10: So I'm in Part 2 Chapter 2, right? Now, those minor reinforcements with a Mage, a Soldier and a Halberdier pop up.  So Naturally, I have Brom sent there to bait them out.

The Mage attacks as expected; 10 Damage, 40 Hit, 3 Crit.  Brom has 29 HP. Ok then...

...and the Mage Crits. ARGH! Reset.

Ok, so I get near the end this time!  Lucia walks into blind fog, since well, I don't really have a choice if I want to advance.
Soldier with Killer Lance attacks her from the Fog! Ok, she's fine, I mean, this guy has a 17% chance to hit her, right?
...not only does he hit, but he CRITS as well, on a 12% CHANCE >_<

Ok, THIS time, Lucia is sent against two Soldiers.  That Killer Lance Solider attacks, 40% hit this time (go Bio Rhythm?)...CRITS AS WELL! ...difference is, Lucia was at full health (yes, I was stupid not healing her that last time), so she survives with 8 HP! ...then manages to avoid being killed, phew! Scare over <_<

Oh, I had one more reset earlier, but that was due to me having a strategy involving getting Nealuchi to be attacked by a ranged move (a Javelin), then a Warrior with a Crossbow pops out and...yeah ;_;  At least in that case, it wasn't a hax death <_<

Maple Goals:
1. 3rd Job
2. Beat Papulatus
3. Beat Zakum/Earn Zakum Helmet Legitly

4. 4th Job

Just got my Zakum Helmet. 22nd Sniper on the server to earn it legitly. Not much left to shoot for, really.

Shame about the 13 dex, as it's the stat that factors into my damage most heavily. Max damage for Crossbow = [(Dex*3.6+Str)/100]*W.Atk.

Oh, random Soul Nomad question for those that have played it: if I want to make a unit flying (as in, ignores terrain, can move over chasms), does it have to consist of entirely flying PCs, or is it sufficient to have the unit's leader be a flying PC? This just occurred to me because I know front-liners (anyone that has to rush over into the enemy's side of the screen, basically--Saboteurs get the screwgee here too since their attacks move along the ground) can't attack when fighting a flying unit that's over a chasm, even if the two units are in melee range.

They all have to be fliers, yes.  Which sucks, because the flying healers are utter fail due to their AI, and you won't always have chasms around to keep your snipers from getting shredded.

You need an entirely flying squad to reap the benefits of going over inaccessible terrain, yes.

A flying leader alone makes the squad half-flying, which means it ignores terrain bonuses/penalties and the enemy's Zone of Contact.

Grim Grimoire- Up to Day 4 take 2. Plot is fun to follow along with, and battle system is okay. It would be decent, but moving around in that giant area of space is clunky. Is there some movement mode they perhaps didn't explain?

Grandia 2- Replay for boss stuff. Up to Liligue. Not like randoms need any help being owned, but Elena's Nightmare Staff>>Lots of Stuff. The accuracy on the move is in fact great!

Kingdom Hearts 2: Third replay. Picked sword. I have beated Pride Lands round 1 so far.

Star Ocean 2: Beat Iseria Queen. Main strategy consisted of having Dias spam Air Slash and Throw a lot of Blackberries and ressurection items. Unfortunately, the game froze after I beat her. I still have limiter off Indalecio left.

Due to boredom, I deleted my Siren save, and started from scratch, after forgetting that it has a Mission Select feature. Shibitoes are merely annoyances at this point, unless they have guns. -_-'

Finally beat that multiple Stroller Grandma mission in Fatal Frame 3. It helped that I opted to go for Shutter Chances, instead of Fatal Frames.  -_-'

Mid-way through VP2. Been mid-way through VP2 for three months. -_-'

Considering picking up No More Heroes and, as a requirement for NMH, a Wii. >_>'

Sadness. The flying healers do indeed suck, which was basically the reason for the question.

OS-Chapter 2 of Velvet's scenario. Oswald's final boss actually wasn't that bad, I was suprised. Pretty easy to massacre with Unlimited POW and Painkiller. Is there something about Velvet I'm missing, or am I right in thinking she's the worst character in the game(so far)?
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

Zelda Phantom Hourglass:  I picked this up a while ago (back in November...ish?) and just now beat it.  It wasn't a long game, no.  Why did it take me three months, then?

Because it sucked.

That's... not fair.  It had it's moments, and it's certainly not a bad game, but it's easily the worst of them (CD-I ignored).  It brought back sailing, but in a manner that should have allowed you to largely ignore it... except for the fact that you have to fight enemies with your poorly calibrated cannon every 5 seconds.  The dungeons were overly simplistic.  One of those dungeons is, until the end of the game, a stealthy hide-from-all-the-enemies dungeon and do it before time runs out.  You have to do this dungeon a total of 6 times before you can beat the game.  The controls are... irritating, to say the least, though I got used to them toward the end.  The plot... oh, who cares, it's a Zelda game, you don't play it for that.  Though it is jarring, going from the games that attempted plot (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess) to something that was as blissfully plot free as LttP.  To make up for it, they throw the same cheesy dialog sequence at you over and over in an attempt to be funny.  Oy.  I get it, Linebeck is useless, stop beating me over the head with it.

There are some sidequests, but they're not easily found through the normal game and largely not worth it anyhow.  Did I mention that you have a different health bar on your ship than you do Link?  Not too bad, it sounds, until you realize you're stuck at 4 hearts the entire game unless you get lucky and get enough ship parts of the same set.  Did I mention that when finding ship parts they're randomly generated, so there's no guarantee that by endgame you'll have enough of a set to raise your hearts by 1?  And you have to fight part of the final boss as your ship, so you could easily be fighting him with 4 hearts? Grah.

So, yeah, the game largely sucked, but it did do some good things.  Every single one of the boss fights was well done (particularly the golem boss), and it was mercifully short.  It also used the DS's features far more than any other game I've played on it.  This was both good and bad; good because for fuck's sake finally a game's taking advantage of the weird things you can do with the DS, and bad because 99% of the game was a gimmick.  Seriously, almost every puzzle is "get clue, write it down on your map so you don't forget, move to next room, repeat ad nauseum.  It also made playing in public irritating, since every once in a while I would have to yell at my console like a retard begging for a hug... at least until I figured out you could just blow really hard into the mic and get the same effect.

I said the controls were irritating, but I need to rant about them.  They're more than just a little hard to get used to; they really just suck.  Moving, attacking, throwing, etc. are all the same motion.  If you tap the screen, you'll either attack or start heading in that direction.  If you're holding something in your hands, occasionally you'll throw it before you mean to because you accidentally tapped far away instead of pressed down so Link would hurry his scrawny ass.  The only times I ever died in the game were the direct result of Link running around like a moron instead of slicing with his sword.

The ship controls are worse.  First, like on land you use the stylus and the other buttons act as shortcut keys.  That's not too bad, until you realize that your touch screen is absolutely cluttered with buttons for you to accidentally hit when you're trying to turn the camera around to fight some irritating ass enemy.  Second, instead of manually controlling the ship you open up the route menu and draw where you're going to go.  This is both good and bad.  Good because you can largely ignore sailing and just bash things with your cannon every once in a while, bad because in battle there is no other way to maneuver. Having to stop the action every 5 seconds so I can change course and not get hit by a fucking cannon ball is just bad design.

To sum up, an OK game with horrible controls, simplistic gameplay, awesome bosses, and... that's about it.  Easily the worst non-CDI Zelda game made.

Also, too much Tetra tentacle rape.

She's completely invincible while swinging on her chain.  Also, use her homing chain a lot (hold down the attack button).  It's really strong and hits multiple enemies.  Her close-range attacks are cast-worst IMHO.  They almost never knock enemies down, even with crits.

RKS -

I finally broke down and managed to beat Rider mode. Let's be honest, the wall is a horrible boss that's nothing but a frustrating stopper. You either whore several energy tanks and beat it like a robot or you have to avoid about twenty gazillion ways to die throughout the battle. Neither of these make for good gameplay, but whatever. Stage 2 is easy for Rider on all counts as long as you know the pattern of the boss. Death's stage is a complete blast, since dash makes the platforming sections faster and funner. Death himself is a whore(Who knew he was Grolla's teacher?), since you need range to deal with the scythe. Death's main body goes down pretty damn quick, though. Dracula's...huh. I'd heard he was a nightmare to fight, but instead, I found that the spacing of his flame pillars is ideal for Rider to dodge and smack him. Form 2's easier than with Spiritia due to how effective dash is. I no tanked him without trying.

Iris stage 1 is a snoozer from end to start. Iris stage 2 is easy with Rider. The Yellow Devil's a bitch and a great chance to blow several energy tanks. I used one and nearly needed a second. It's an irritating fight since mistakes really cost you in the worst way possible. But anyway, onto the boss gauntlet.  I played this over several continues to learn how to fight the girls with Rider in depth. Lessee...

Liebea: A bit harder due to lacking range but still easy. The wind segment kinda sucks.
Spiritia: Fuck Spiritia. Fuck her hard, fuck her long, fuck her with a steel spiked boat oar. Her first form is a bitch with Lilli, though her second phase can be cheaped out if you know how.
Traure: Super easy. You can cheap her out with wall jumping and charged shots. I usually took no damage on her, it's nice to see one of the harder Spiritia bosses nerfed for Rider. It's a nice reversal!
Zorne: Zero sum change. She's a little easier with wall jumping but her charges can really catch Rider on the wrong end of her attacks.
Sichte: I suck at her and I still suck at her with Rider. Rider's dash is marginally more useful than Tia's slide.
Schwer: Zero sum. She fights about the same as a buster duel with Tia. Schwer is all about dodging the waves of crap she throws at you.
Freudia: Easier if you can manipulate her snowstorm attack to allow evasion, harder if not. The small room slightly favors Rider.
Luste: Still sucks!

Irismachine sucks even more with Rider. You cleave off it's HP and it's patterns are easy to manage. But the big part of that run? After about ten continues I no tanked the boss gauntlet and Iris. Kick ass. Anyway, Iris herself isn't hard. As long as you know her patterns, it's a slightly longer version of her Spiritia fight.

I can pretend RKS doesn't exist for a few weeks now. Seriously, FUCK that wallboss.

AW:DoR: Beaten.

C25 was easy.  Like, the units I started with nearly crushed everything on their own.

C26 was nasty.  First time I had 40 properties, he had 12, and I was getting horribly overrun.  I eventually realized this was because he had an economic advantage (30,000 income in free units, and 10,000-20,000 income in scatterbombing, 12,000 income from properties, but realistically higher due to his CO bonus).  Second time the battery ran out; my strategy wasn't that different, though so I probably wasn't going anywhere.

So...I realized I needed to combat his economy, so next attempt I moved all my units towards the top-center (along the two thin lines that can neither be lasered or scatterbombed) killed all his pre-deployed units, then proceeded to spawncamp his free stuff with a Bomber and a Missile (among other units).  "Oh look, a plane just materialized out of thin air right next to the unit that can kill it.  ZAP."x10.

I think that might have been the only time I've gotten a 150 power score.

Otherwise, ran some calculations, and...Md Tanks seem to be seriously awful.  Like, you'd expect them to beat Tanks cost-per-cost (since they used to) but they don't because they've been hit with a horrible nerfstick.  Against some non-tank units, they only deal 5% more damage than regular Tanks.  It's seriously insultingly bad.  This might all be forgivable if they could kill any unit at all in one hit...but they can't.  It's weird, because War Tanks have sensible stats for their cost, so it's really just Md Tanks.

Seconded. I love WA3's esthetics for reasons I can't really place. Even past the intro, I mean (which...I don't think anyone could dispute is beautiful).

SN: Thuris went down like a bitch. Two Blaze Slashes plus some poking. Boss without support in a strat game = ahahahahaha. Also, I can make squads with 8-9 units in them now. The game shall weep.

The cel-shading looks... how to say it... a bit blocky. But then, comparing it to Okami cel-shading is terribly unfair, it's more in how it's used. Granted, I like the effect anyway, but the game definitely looks aged, may have been so even when it was released - which probably nods to the effect being done on purpose, which would be really cool.
