No vote on Remedi's fight, though I write for her so fucking often I half think I *can* vote on her. Shit I had to revote this week and delete my vote for her.

Vexacion (BoF5) vs Bloodbane (VP1)- Usual 'haha Bloodbane' vote.

White Mage (FF3) vs Axel (Dis2)- PC form and boss form both hate status and both hate healers with deep resources. So.. splat.

Light

Morph Jerme (FE7) vs Brusom (Brig)- Think brusom scores a double here for me. That is that.

Heavy

Ashley Riot (VS) vs Gwendolyn (OS): Can't vote.
Tibarn (FE9) vs Zero (MMXCM): Tibarn goes first and doubles.  That pretty much ends most matches right there.  Heck, Zero might be OHKOed, but I'm not sure what matters more between his 2nd best HP (by a nonfail amount vs. average) or his bad defenses.  Either way, at worst, Tibarn 2HKOs (after the double), is not OHKOed, and has counters while Zero does not.

Middle

Harley (DDS) vs Baofu (Pers2): Need to look up what Baofu can do exactly now <_<
White Mage (FF3) vs Axel (Dis2): Can't vote.

Light

Morph Jerme (FE7) vs Brusom (Brig): The reign of Morph Jerme ends, while the reign of Brusom continues?
Suzu Fujibayashi  (ToP) vs Chuck Preston (WA5): I think Intrude wins this fight...

Heavy

Ashley Riot (VS) vs Gwendolyn (OS) - Shadow Ally pretty much. Also, has decent durability to boot. Ashley I think has a pretty gimmicky strategy that I don't think will really help him much. At all. What with Chaining and Risk and all. Ashley loses slugfest I guess.

Middle

Harley (DDS) vs Baofu (Pers2) - Can't vote if only because I've completely forgotten everything about Persona 2.
White Mage (FF3) vs Axel (Dis2) - Boss form Axel is kinda... pathetic. Apart from kickass music.

Heavy

Tibarn (FE9) vs Zero (MMXCM): Yeah, Tibarn's opening attack leaves Zero too near death.

Light

Morph Jerme (FE7) vs Brusom (Brig): This would be interesting if I respected the draining perhaps? As is, easy 2HKO.

Brusom also has Iai Strike which specifically ignores counters in game.

I don't think that argument works for me. Magic doesn't get countered in Brig either but I'd certainly see FE 1-2 range countering it (EDIT: if it's singletarget). Unless you want to argue Iai is somehow special in a way magic isn't.

If Iai Strike is a 1-range physical and doesn't provoke counters, then I wouldn't see it provoking FE counters since 1-range physicals normally do in Brig, so it would actually be a special property of the attack.  If it's a ranged physical, then it's more iffy.  Don't remember offhand which it is. >_>

It's classed as a 'special' type of attack, all of which (Breath attacks, Djinn attacks, Cry Bird) ignore counters in game. Other types of ranged attacks don't ignore counters if you're in range, Iai Strike does. I'm going to have Neph test it to be sure my memory's not faulty on this one, but I'm fairly confident on this.

From Gourry's FAQ:
