Godlike

Necrosaro (Dragon Quest IV) vs Exorcist (Bravely Second: End Layer): One-rounds in there somewhere with a double physical or something.
Claude Kenny (Star Ocean: The Second Story) vs Zack Fair (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII): I think some status will do this?
Brahms (Valkyrie Profile) vs Persephone (Wild ARMs 5): ITD overkill
Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI) vs Kei ‘Nate’ Nanjo (Persona): Should I vote on Nate if I'm not inclined to allow the overlevelled Persona?

Heavy

Roxis Rosenkrantz (Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis) vs Kain Highwind (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)
Edgar Roni Figaro (Final Fantasy VI) vs Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)
Vaike (Fire Emblem: Awakening) vs Esuna Busy (7th Saga)
Hildagard Valentine (Shadow Hearts: From the New World) vs Cross Ward (Radiata Stories): Boss, and should be good enough for this.

Middle

Oerba dia Vanille (Final Fantasy XIII) vs Shante (Arc the Lad II): Two infinite healers. One has a limit.
Akihiko Sanada (Persona 3) vs Sylvain Jose Gautier (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)
Lorelai (Suikoden V) vs Ursula (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)
Cid Highwind (Final Fantasy VII) vs Alfyn Greengrass (Octopath Traveler): Seen enough Compounding nonsense to call this.

Light

Chemist (Final Fantasy Tactics) vs Reimi Saionji (Star Ocean: The Last Hope)
Norris (Chrono Cross) vs Huber von Vestra (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)
Locke Cole (Final Fantasy VI) vs Harley (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)
Kongol (Legend of Dragoon) Sancho (Front Mission 4)

Godlike

Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI) vs Kei ‘Nate’ Nanjo (Persona) - tbh if Alfred is out I'm not sure what the alternatives would be but IIRC Hierophant didn't really have anything that would outrace Man Eater beatdown.

Heavy

Roxis Rosenkrantz (Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis) vs Kain Highwind (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)
Edgar Roni Figaro (Final Fantasy VI) vs Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd (Fire Emblem: Three Houses) - Dimitri doesn't ORKO and I have no respect for using Charm as status resistance.
Vaike (Fire Emblem: Awakening) vs Esuna Busy (7th Saga) - ID, surely.

Middle

Akihiko Sanada (Persona 3) vs Sylvain Jose Gautier (Fire Emblem: Three Houses) - 2RKOs with Swift Strikes, isn't 2HKO'd without Akihiko spending turns he can't really afford on debuffs.  Would go first if I ever used threat range as anything other than a tiebreak.  If Akihiko were using P4/5's debuffs he might take it but 3's are notably weaker.
Lorelai (Suikoden V) vs Ursula (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)

Light

Norris (Chrono Cross) vs Hubert von Vestra (Fire Emblem: Three Houses) - Normal Hubert problems.
Locke Cole (Final Fantasy VI) vs Harley (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years) - e: nvm forgot the paralysis procs way to fucking go locke
Kongol (Legend of Dragoon) vs Sancho (Front Mission 4) - Sancho just gives him so much time to land the ID.

Necrosaro (Dragon Quest IV) vs Exorcist (Bravely Second: End Layer)- Uh, wow, no idea how much damage Necrosaro does. I have to assume that somewhere he has ORKO?
Claude Kenny (Star Ocean: The Second Story) vs Zack Fair (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII)- Uh, well, does Zack have stats? Edit: Respect for ES stun kicking in in a long match.
Brahms (Valkyrie Profile) vs Persephone (Wild ARMs 5)
Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI) vs Kei ‘Nate’ Nanjo (Persona)

Heavy
Roxis Rosenkrantz (Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis) vs Kain Highwind (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)- I guess someone wanted Roxis to lose. Kain's endless luck continues.
Hildagard Valentine (Shadow Hearts: From the New World) vs Cross Ward (Radiata Stories)- Does Cross have stats?

Middle
Oerba dia Vanille (Final Fantasy XIII) vs Shante (Arc the Lad II)- I don't think this is infinite healer with limit vs one without one, I think this is infinite healer w/ status immunity versus infinite healer without status immunity.
Lorelai (Suikoden V) vs Ursula (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)
Cid Highwind (Final Fantasy VII) vs Alfyn Greengrass (Octopath Traveler)

Light
Locke Cole (Final Fantasy VI) vs Harley (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)- Harley has turn 2 Paralysis and then proceeds to wear Locke down.

Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI) vs Kei ‘Nate’ Nanjo (Persona)- Assuming Alfred is legal. If not it flips yeah.

Heavy

Roxis Rosenkrantz (Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis) vs Kain Highwind (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)- Roxis isn't a much of a Heavy.
Vaike (Fire Emblem: Awakening) vs Esuna Busy (7th Saga)- You have *how* much Res Vaike?!?!?! Good grief. 7S ID deserves antihype but so does that RES.
Hildagard Valentine (Shadow Hearts: From the New World) vs Cross Ward (Radiata Stories)- Different tiers of Heavy. Cross needs to land status turn one and to not be OHKOed and I don't think he manages both.

Middle

Oerba dia Vanille (Final Fantasy XIII) vs Shante (Arc the Lad II)-E: Vanille can't block Sleep.
Lorelai (Suikoden V) vs Ursula (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)- Ursula is champ tier; we've seen that before in Futurama.
Cid Highwind (Final Fantasy VII) vs Alfyn Greengrass (Octopath Traveler)- Alfy is champ tier; Cid is not.

Light

Locke Cole (Final Fantasy VI) vs Harley (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)- guh
Kongol (Legend of Dragoon) Sancho (Front Mission 4)- Fuck the ID, Sancho runs out of ammo/healing here at the worst.

Oerba dia Vanille (Final Fantasy XIII) vs Shante (Arc the Lad II)- Abstain. I really don't think I see Shante's status protection getting deshell/deprotect; it doesn't get AtL2's version of that as far as I'm aware. Shante may take it anyway as she and Vanille are both spamming really inaccurate status here.

Defense Down and Magic Down (Mdef down) are both gotten by ATL2 status protection. I know you are thinking Weak Enemy, but that's PC only and also fails against enemies that are are fully status immune so there's not indication of why Deshell/Deprotect would get through it.

Dhyer: Meeple's topic for CC is here:
http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php?topic=952.0
The main numbers we're missing (since they USUALLY don't matter) is just how good Zack's healing is at end-game, and the accuracy on his useful status (e.g. Stop).  I suspect it's full if you assume Zack doesn't pile on some good HP+ materia, but that would be dumb and stupid.  I think it's probably still full anyway?  Want to say you could definitely have 9999 healing Curagas.

Claude Kenny (Star Ocean: The Second Story) vs Zack Fair (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII)
Claude heal-locks, but Zack wins heal-locks.  Eventually DMW will give Zack something stupid like invincibility or a limit for free damage.

Heavy

Edgar Roni Figaro (Final Fantasy VI) vs Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)
Vaike (Fire Emblem: Awakening) vs Esuna Busy (7th Saga)
Two status wins.  (And even IF Charm is status defense, that'd drive Noiseblaster from 100% to 70% or something?  Not enough to save the boar prince.)

Middle

Cid Highwind (Final Fantasy VII) vs Alfyn Greengrass (Octopath Traveler)
NOPE.  Don't think poison even built limit gauge for further humiliation.

Light

Norris (Chrono Cross) vs Hubert von Vestra (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)
Even if Hubert isn't doubled if he uses Miasma, there's no way Miasma counter + Frozen Lance is a kill.

Would physical stun from the eternal sphere into Mirror Slice do anything vs Zack?

Why wouldn't Charm be status defense? That is literally its function in-game.

Except for the part where it blatantly isn't, considering it neither protects against all status attached to damage (which I have never respected FE resisting and never will) nor does it protect against the one pure status move in the game, so forgive me if I treat this argument for the utter nonsense it is.

super: Hard to say.  I usually interpreted the Eternal Sphere stuns as more like "ARPG stunlock to enforce the combo" and somewhat closer to Delay than paralysis...  but..  yeah, this gets into dark ARPG interp level stuff.  (Xorn beats everyone Delay vulnerable because his attacks have a ton of Delay attached and are really fast!)  I will say that if you see Claude as "fast" due to slow-casting mages in the average, then it is possible he "doubles" Zack with 2x turns before Zack gets a good DMW he's fishing for.  Dhyer: your stat topic mentions the delay on Eternal Sphere basic attacks but not on Mirror Slice - I forget, did the little doom stunluck thingies pop off from Mirror Slice as well?

It is a good point, if the delay or natural speed on Claude is enough, he can maybe win that way.

On the Eternal Sphere: it's very much not just a "this is the battle system" stun like Xorn's, it's a specific property of the weapon to shoot out a bunch of stars and tie up enemies in a way few other things in SO2 do. I'm never sure exactly how much to consider it but it helping tip long fights seems reasonable. No comments on the match past that of course.

On charm: Charm is an important defensive stat in-game (offensive too but the DL deliberately ignores that) and I feel like it should be factored in in some way. There are, as noted, some status attacks that don't check it (both Silence and a few staggering blows). Another option is to see charm as the defence against AOE moves, but again that's not really accurate (staggering blows are a counterexample). On the whole though, I would consider staggering blows primarily about their damage-dealing ability, while gambits are primarily about their ability to inflict rattle (their damage is even non-lethal except all but the primary target), which leads me to the conclusion that charm should be the defensive stat against moves which are primarily about status in the DL. The other option is to subject pure status moves to evasion (since NO status move in 3H ignores both evade and charm), but that goes against established precedent that FE characters normally can't use their evade against status. On the whole I'm happier with subjecting it to charm, it feels more true to in-game. If there are other ways to reconcile which moves hit charm and which hit evade I'm all ears.

Godlike

Necrosaro (Dragon Quest IV) vs Exorcist (Bravely Second: End Layer): I imagine his double physical KOs, yeah.
Brahms (Valkyrie Profile) vs Persephone (Wild ARMs 5): VP1 Brahms is one of those weird artifacts that scans as patently unrankable now, VP2 Brahms is... good but isn't going to win many Godlike matches, and certainly not this one.

Heavy

Roxis Rosenkrantz (Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis) vs Kain Highwind (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years): Presumably.
Edgar Roni Figaro (Final Fantasy VI) vs Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd (Fire Emblem: Three Houses): While I am inclined to consider Charm in general as per above, I don't think it does anything against Noiseblaster which ignores both evasion and magic evasion, making it very much perfect accuracy unless immuned.

Middle

Lorelai (Suikoden V) vs Ursula (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years): Has thunder resistance. (Might win anyway?)
Cid Highwind (Final Fantasy VII) vs Alfyn Greengrass (Octopath Traveler): Presumably. Cid can block poison, but Alfyn's healing is good enough to handle Cid's damage, and I imagine a 4-BP Amputate can dodge the scarier limits. Certainly if he lands a defence debuff first.

Light

Chemist (Final Fantasy Tactics) vs Reimi Saionji (Star Ocean: The Last Hope): Uh. If you don't allow Berserk Reimi loses horribly. But with it, she can use it and not give Chemist much benefit... still struggles to overcome Auto-Potion and it only lasts three turns. I suspect Chemist can probably pull this off.
Norris (Chrono Cross) vs Hubert von Vestra (Fire Emblem: Three Houses): Can't even hype Banshee strats here.
Locke Cole (Final Fantasy VI) vs Harley (Final Fantasy IV: The After Years): Turn 2 paralysis gives her enough time to win, Locke can't 3-2 or 2HKO her. Kinda sad.

Erwin Schrödinger will kill you like a cat in a box.
Maybe.

Wait, I thought most people did factor in FE evade against status in some way? Or do you mean newer FE's?

Also, edited in to vote Claude over Zack. I respect ES stun kicking in at some point in a heal-lock match.

For FE6-10, people generally used Res as the FE stat to check against (magical) status, because status staves in those games checked res (1 point = 5% less hit) and not evade. (Even in those games the truth was a little murkier, like FE8 had a stone attack which checked evade rather than res.) 3H no longer has status attacks which check res; they either check evade or charm (a new stat).

Otherwise the only time I can recall using FE evade against status from other games is if that status explicitly used evade as its check in its home game (e.g. some Final Fantasy games). There's obviously in some cases going to be some interpretation calls to resolve attacker definitions and defender definitions in those cases though.

Erwin Schrödinger will kill you like a cat in a box.

Hmm, I must have been thinking that some people used Evasion for FE 8 and then I just kind of ran with it in general due to the hyper importance of evasion of Fire Emblems to the point where I felt like giving it credit there felt true to in game use.
