RPG Mascot Battle!

So we all know those annoying little animal mascots, pets, and familiars that seem to float around RPGs on the off-chance that the game needs to do some merchandising... But let's talk about how useful they are.

I'm gonna list off as many of these non-PC pets that I can remember and let's decide which of them reigns supreme based on in-game usefulness.

Just list all the ones you know in order from most useful to least useful. Numbering helps speed up the vote-counting process.

No, you don't have to play them -all-, just list the ones you know enough about that you feel comfortable voting on them.

Eringya and Nyankos?

Niu: Cactuar and Tonberry are common enemies in FF games, I don't remember them being utility characters. Eringa and Nyanko are in a similar boat, only they also count as PCs. This list tournament was specifically for non-PC mascots, based on usefulness.

Umm...a lot of these things aren't...really...mascots.

Mascots require being something, often not human, to be representative of a series.  Like, you think a series, its something that comes to mind (I know, its not exactly that, but you get the idea.)

Something like Moogles of an FF game is a mascot.  Wyverns of FEs, especially since Wyverns are just shy of being in the same tier as Dragons for "common RPG Enemies" are not.

I dunno, there's a large amount of arbitrariness chosen for that.  I mean, Mermaids from Suiko4, but not things like Kobolds or Ducks from previous Suikos?  Or Beavers from Suiko 5?

Not to mention I object to Epona being on the list in general, to just avoid all the "OMG ZELDA ISn'T AN RPG!" debates <_<

...mascots don't have to be per-series.  They can be per-game.
