I was moving for an forced vacation (between Layoff and Returning to School) over the past 2 weeks. Still had internet access for that first week, but was too busy to discuss stuff in length. Good thing too, as it allowed me to coalesce my thoughts.
Personally, I don't understand why we have to do promotions/demotions based on a order of "Top X/Bottom Y". (And by this I mean results, not entrants.)
Why can't we just base it on the pool results by points in the pool? This is what I'm thinking:
Assuming a Win in the Pool is worth 2 Points, a Tie 1, and a Loss 0:
Any fighter that gets 4 or more points is placed in the Upper Division
Any fighter that gets 3 or fewer points is placed in the Lower Division
Simple as that. The externals of the Downgrade Pool don't need to change at all. All changes would be internal. And a Boolean based on points easier to understand than a sorting algorithm. (As Season 49 H/G has shown.)
