You don't have to. It just helps. My general point was "none of these casts are decisively more interesting to me than the others" and I got off on a tangent because it was late mostly.

I already vote on FE10 forms so I'd just like to get it ranked already. Seems better on playership than most of the other games here anyway.

MK2... is just the best idea out of the rest I think.

FE10-yeah, about time we ranked this. Been long enough, gained playership, etc.

FF13-Unlike its predecessor FF12, it has a cast worth something in the DL, and shows signs of potential growth in playership. The fact that its multi-console (with no significant differences between the two as well) means its probably better than many other games to boot.

Also remembered it now since it wasn't on the list, but old yet harmless idea - rank FE:SD, even if it's just FW Marth. He's in Smash Brothers, after all. (The full rank that I'd support would just be Marth, Caeda, and Jagen anyway.) Not going to spend a vote on it, obviously.

Yes, if it's been too long, then people who've played the game have forgotten about it. These aren't classics like Final Fantasy 6 being ranked which a good number of older voters (i.e. most of the DL) played as kids a billion times. I'm a big fan of XS3, and I wouldn't really be in favor of ranking it at this point - be damned if I can remember what Allen can do aside from suck, for example. I'm consistent; I rolled my eyes at Vandal Hearts getting a full rank very late, and same with LoL2.

That said, to be clear, I think the DL has gotten stale and would be in favor of ranking like 4 games + 2 sets of FWs right now if I was in charge, so ranking MK2 would be fine; I'd just want to also see FE10/ToV/FF13/DQV/etc. ranked as well.

His point was "A year is not a long time, in fact ranking games less than a year old is stupid because the DL does not play games that fast anymore", not that age is unimportant.

Perhaps this is a silly question that I should have brought up in chat but why exactly do we limit ourselves to only two games per period in the first place? If it's for ease of use, that's fine and dandy and I won't argue with it but it just seems kind of strange that we don't just put all 5 or 10 or however many games up and go through them with people who vote yes or no on them. I mean, sure, the numbers may end up being the same but it just strikes me as peculiar that we intentionally limit things as if some sort of terrible disaster might strike if we overrank something like we did in the past.

ultimately because we went through a long period in which there weren't more than 2 good ideas at a time, and thus making games fight tooth and nail to make the second section limited the amount of crazy obscure/people promoting favorites getting through. Since it doesn't look like good, rankable games are going to make a comeback in the marketplace anytime soon I can't say I see a good reason to change it.

Although we could probably stop waiting such a long time between ranking periods now.

It's a pain in the ass to rank a large portion of games at once from the backside of things. We can look at speeding things up a bit if there's demand after this ranking period.

Well, it used to be 3 at a time, so clearly we're being a bit arbitrary with the 2-game limit.
