Lady-Think most of her combos were MT.
Lenneth- OHKO

Garai- Competent boss slugger vs Edgar.
Jowy- Scias needs way too many calls in his favor (Not to be OHKOed, sleep working, Jowy not doubling at the wrong time) to win this.

Venusaur- Jill is a pretty crappy middle. She gets statused.
Bruiser- Chip, chip, SMASH

Blastoise- Melville's pretty badly outclassed here.
Diego- Counter fighters make Meg run screaming.

Heavy:

Edgar Roni Figaro (FF6) vs Garai (CC): Edgar vs. Heavy boss. Yep.
Jowy Atreides (S2) vs Scias (BoF4): It all depends on whether Jowy OHKOs, as otherwise Sleep does it's thing and Scias wins. Scias is below average HP albeit not by too much, so I'll buy the NEB Jowy hype train.

Middle:

Jill Fizzart (FE9) vs Venusaur (PKMN): FE10 Jill goes first due to threat range and the odds of her winning in a straight-up status/Occult mashup are in her favor.
Bruiser Khang (ToD) vs Leehalt Alceste (WA3): Combo's are not Leehalt's friend? (see: Gatling?)

Light:

Blastoise (PKMN) vs Melville (S3): Tank mage.
Meg (Suikos) vs Diego Renault (VH): Going to guess he is good enough for this? Good run, Meg.

Blastoise (PKMN) vs Melville (S3) - rofl.
Meg (Suikos) vs Diego Renault (VH) - I thought Meg's physicals were -ranged-. Counters aren't really the way here if so. Regardless, Diego goes first and 2HKOs.

Lady (SH3) vs Belial (WA4): Some of the death blitz is actually true multitarget. Well, just Calamity Gaze and Malice Dirge, but that's enough.
Ryu (BoF4) vs Lenneth Valkyrie (VPs): Unsure on how VP2 does, tiebreaking that I know VP1 wins easily. Open to arguments here, too lazy to think deeply about it myself.

Heavy:

Edgar Roni Figaro (FF6) vs Garai (CC): Edgar vs. status-immune. :(
Jowy Atreides (S2) vs Scias (BoF4): BoF4 sleep isn't that good even, I don't think? It doesn't matter, Scias is below in both HP and MDef and I see Jowy OHKOing average, so...

Middle:

Jill Fizzart (FE9) vs Venusaur (PKMN): Jill pretty much needs turn 1 stun from her FE10 form? Yeah no. FE9 voter here anyway.

Light:

Blastoise (PKMN) vs Melville (S3): Melville mdur is nothing special, Blastoise pdur is. Bad mix.
Meg (Suikos) vs Diego Renault (VH): Probably.

It's more that her odds of Stun on a double and the fact that she goes first mean that she has a >50% chance of winning compared to Venusaur's status. 51% 'status' chance of winning that goes first beats out a 75% status that goes second. Jill's chance of victory is actually 63% or so. Possibly higher if I remember correctly and PKMN sleep wasn't an assured victory.

Pretty sure I just take him as Sky Lord period, so Meg might OHKO with Trick Rune outright...

Meg apparently uses throwing knives, and I'm not sure if I'd class those as arrows here. Maybe. I dunno.

Regardless, I will take this time to rue the fact that we basically lack conclusive VH damage tests.

If Meg's slower than average, Diego attacks, Meg gets countered, Diego kills Meg.

If Meg's faster than average, Meg gets countered, Diego attacks, Meg is forced to heal, see above.

So yeah, Sniper Diego 3HKOing is enough to win this, unless if Meg can 2HKO or is fast enough to get enough doubles against average speed before she runs out of healing.

Taking this opportunity to throw in some "Boot non-Vandalier VH PCs" hype. I've even played the game due to it being ranked and I can't muster any interest in it in the DL. I'm also still in shock that we ranked non-Ash characters and we missed out on a PC named 'Grog Drinkwater'.

Shameful.

Eleni is pretty cool. Monk-girl with healing/paralysis with a plot fetish for golems. Is also the love interest or whatever.

Other than that I tend to agree (EDIT: that they are boring/don't interest me, not that they should be immediately booted or some such). Though Diego as Skylord is something I still kinda remember.

Non-Ash Vandal Hearts characters essentially were ranked on the premise that no one really objected to the game on any level, and that was about the best a game had at that particular time.  There's a reason the concept of the ranking freeze came about shortly after this.

That said, I don't see anything particularly bad about it as a DL thing.  The whole class RPS business does make it a chore to work on from a pure stats standpoint, but I think having to go with your gut every once in a while isn't a bad thing >.>
